Everything Nintendo is doing, at least recently, is based on supply and demand. I mean come on.. Even the 3DS is sold out everywhere. My local Wal-Mart has like five 2DS systems available, that's about it..
@Grumblevolcano I agree that this is some kind of strategy or stress test of some kind. I don't care how much apologizing Nintendo does. They know the intent on what is about it. Lol, who they think they're telling??
Hmm?... Yeah I still don't find any statement from Kimishima believable about the NES Classic. Nintendo (imo) done it on purpose. Maybe it's some kind of stress test if you will? BS is my opinion about it, and I'm sticking with it.
That's what's up. I plan to go all Nintendo Switch anyways. Pretty much done with everything else in gaming as far as Sony and Microsoft goes. Good news!
The web browser doesn't bother me at all. I primarily play games on game consoles. A YouTube app would be logical since the Left Joy-Con has a capture button.
@MarcelRguez Yeah for my preorders it happened in two ways. 1. I knew about it already as well as many others. I camped out at my local Gamestop on 1/12 a day in advance to preorder my Switch. 2. Second was on Amazon for my fiancee's preorder.
So yeah, I definitely didn't use Google, lol. But experience matters a lot. This preordering business isn't anything new to a lot of us here. Especially if you're an older gamer. But those Google statistics is a positive thing. People who have missed out on preorders are mostly using that search engine to get educated on how to preorder. A lot of new consumers don't know about fan sites like this. So...
Yes it will be interesting to see all this data convert to sales. Wow! That's good for Nintendo and gamers who play on Nintendo platforms. I'm not really all that excited as I use to be when I was a kid. Mostly because of maturity and getting older. But this is still a hobby that I play casually. It'll be really fun to play Switch games with my fiancee as I am trying to surprise her with her own console at launch, which is why I bought two of them. So it all should go well, hopefully.
@WiltonRoots I'm not boxed in to a round here mindset that you speak of. Nor am I interested. Everyone has different opinions. I was just poking fun at the things people complain about. Especially when it comes to Nintendo. I find it quite hilarious 😁
@Link118 yeah right. What Nintendo did was totally by choice. I don't know what they have against analog triggers. They didn't get the memo on how much positive feedback regarding those GameCube controllers. Now Nintendo just ignores it like it's not important to their consumers who actually owned and enjoyed the GC. Personally the GC controller is my favorite so far.
@business-scrub That is the exact point I tried reasoning for awhile now. The Switch needs games that are unique to its functionalities. Ports aren't all that bad an idea only if the Switch doesn't strain to run it, and if there is a demand for said game.
@WOLF1313 Opinions are great! I still think Nintendo leads in creativity and fun factor over the others. Although obviously the U was overlooked in all areas and expressions of concerns is in abundance. Their past practices becoming more tedious to most is still an issue.
I'm a gamer, not a fanboy. And still I prefer Nintendo's creativity first party games over any 3rd party games. My opinion works for me. Good to know your opinion works for you.
If the Nintendo haters had their own branded canned food then articles like these would be on the pallet all day for them to feast on. I can hear them now. "The Switch is weak!" "The Switch can't even run a game with realistic looking cars in it!" "Nintendoom!" "March 3rd is the new April fools!"
The list keeps growing of more 3rd parties with nothing to offer accept kind words and Hallmark gestures, but no games in the pipeline. Really, who needs a 3rd console to port to? The port trend is outdated imo. Creativity is lacking big time from 3rd parties.
Wow.... the baby mini game. Seriously? There are too many babies having babies for real. Too much of an epidemic at least in America. Just my opinion...
The lack of a web browser doesn't bother me none. I'm looking forward to playing games on the Switch, not browsing the internet. I have more than enough ways to web browse, my phone and iPad.
I'm looking forward to buying Splatoon this time around for Switch. I thought it looked cool on Wii U but wasn't trying to buy a U for the second for it. It looks super fun, and non violent too I might add.
Good article. It's cool to see Kimishima's mindset on the business as a whole. So hopefully they continue to hire dedicated people to keep Nintendo in the positive.
What I look forward to the most on Switch are exclusive games unique to the system. This is where the Switch can truly standout potentially if more of Nintendo's partners focus on that. Not just the unique option of playing console games on the go. The HD rumble and other tech built into the Joy Con has to be utilized as a primary.
Ports are fine based on demand of whatever the game is. But Nintendo doesn't need a lot of them imo.
That's cool, and I hope everyone will enjoy it there. If Nintendo holds a hands on demonstration in the States then I'll purposely pass on it. Don't want to spoil the experience. I'll wait for the Switch I purchased.
@JLPick Yeah have a cousin who once owned all those running pad and power glove extras as well as a friend down the block. The Rob robot and all that external stuff. I'd watch them play it but it never appealed to me. Just a normal default controller is enough lol..
@JLPick I see.
I never bought into anything outside of an extra normal controller. Never owned a zapper, power glove, running pad, or any gimmick peripheral from Nintendo Sony or Microsoft in my 34 years of gaming. The Sony subscription was worth my purchase because I played online in quite a few games, same as for Microsoft. But I'm not buying into all subscriptions at once, just Nintendo only. My humble responsibilities outweighs gaming on a daily bases, but at least with the Switch I can manage getting in a few games here and there with its portable aspect away from the t.v.
It could happen. I don't see why not, potentially speaking. If Nintendo keeps marketing and supporting the Switch right it may sell as much as the Wii. During the first part of the Super Bowl commercial add the Switch was advertised as a handheld. They need to keep advertising that way imo.
@walrusballs
No thanks. I tried with the Virtua Boy, which was a type VR experience. Even fps give me hard times of being that immersed in a game. Motion sickness medication works but it's not worth it. I don't like medication, and it's just a video game. I'll remain old school with a controller when it comes to gaming.
@2CUTE4YOU Yeah the price of a Super Bowl commercial add is expensive as ever, and it always goes up in price yearly. But hey, for Nintendo to show their confidence in the Switch it must be worth it since they'll get it all back in abundance at some point. It's good to see confidence than apologizes as was expressed for the Wii U from Nintendo themselves.
@walrusballs
I'm not into VR but I'm not critical to those who want it. The only reason why I don't play in VR is to avoid headaches nausea and vomit reactions. But a Mario Kart VR would be close to a rollercoaster experience imo, which would be really cool to those who could stomach it.
Interesting indeed. I'm waiting for an official statement concerning the yearly subscription of Switch online. But I like what's being said guestimation/ballpark wise. 30 dollars or less is a lot better than 60 dollars a year. In fact im not even going to renew my Sony and Xbox subscriptions. My Sony one ends in March, and Xbox in September. No way I'm paying for three subscriptions. Lol.
Well, even though I just saw the commercial here at least I have a reason to watch the Super Bowl just to see the commercial air. As I'm from Pittsburgh, and the Steelers didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year (no bitterness), this will be cool to see.
Ohhh SOMEBODY'S IN TROUBLE!!
Lol.. It's the internet. Stuff like this happens offen. Core gamers know what's going on. But casuals will look right past it unless explained to them. No harm done..
32gigs for 39-52 dollars?? Hahaha! Never that.. But I plan to buy the 256gigs for 150. Man.. That's Sony style marketing just because their name is on it. We preordered the Nintendo Switch, not the Vita. Right? (Sheesh)
@LordGeovanni I know right... It's with every multi billion dollar business/corporation. As much as they try to hide it the truth still reveals itself. Nintendo has been around since the mid 1800's, so it's no surprise. But hey, what do we know? We just play games on occasion.. lol They can be yakuza all they want.
Wow.. May Yah comfort his family.
When I hear people talk about Nintendo like this I can't help but to picture Nintendo with mob/yakuza like business dealings. Hmm? I've heard similar stories about Nintendo for awhile now. Haha, ain't no way for people to say the same things about another for over 20 years without any truth to it. I'm just saying..
But anyways.. I enjoyed Dig Dug. Not PAC Man so much. Splaterhouse was cool. Of course Tekken, and SC 1-3 but the rest was unappealing to me.. Ridge Racer was ok..
United States (Pittsburgh Pennsylvania) here. This is the first I heard of price dips... interesting. I think for the most part America is use to high prices. 299.99 is the sweet spot here without any reason to dip the price. Preorders are all reserved anyway. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Toys R Us would be granted a short preorder option in stores soon towards the release day of the Switch. They're the only ones who haven't done it yet in store but online only I think..
