Nintendo has announced a presentation — no, not a Direct, but a Treehouse: Live presentation. These presentations normally take place during and around E3 or other Directs, but it looks like this will be a stand-alone one, taking place on 25th August.
The Treehouse will be split into three segments; the first two will focus on Splatoon 3 — one part on the game's new single-player mode, and the second on what strategies you can use in the upcoming Splatfest World Premier.
The last section will be dedicated to the Square Enix-published farming sim RPG Harvestella. This will showcase some world-first gameplay for Live Wire's rather lovely-looking game, which is a Switch console exclusive.
The presentation is scheduled for 25th August at 9:30am PDT / 12:30pm EDT / 5:30pm BST / 6:30pm BST, so make sure you set your alarms for then if you're interested in either of these games!

They are literally giving us anything other than general Direct news
No interest in any of those games, just give us a round up.
Haven't you given enough away about Splatoon already?? Get on with some other games we can look forward to....
I didn't watch the Splatoon Direct but is it really necessary to air a Treehouse for Splat 3 (and Harvestella) 2 weeks after the Splat Direct?
Harvestella comes out in November so this sadly feels like deconfirmation of a September general Direct.
So Splatoon Tw... I mean THREE gameplay.
Ok
Harvestella does look like a fun game though, so going to watch that.
I get Splatoon 3 but why Harvestella? Why not Mario + Rabbids or Bayonetta 3
Splatoon again?! Why. I imagine most people have decided by now whether or not they are going to buy it
My decision to buy Splatoon 3 depends on good single player story/campaign mode so I’ll be watching this. Also interested to see if Harvestella will be better than Rune Factory 5
might watch the Harvestella content after. Don't care about the Splatoon marketing
Good to see something of substance on Hero Mode. I didn’t like how the Direct just skimmed over it. It would be nice to see whether this is just like the last two games or if there’s a little more to it. I recognized the Fail Balloons from Octo Expansion in the Direct, so hopefully it may take more cues from that mode.
I hope we get a Bakugan reveal like we did in the 2020 treehouse./s
Sounds like an absolute yawn fest
The E3 was cancelled, so yes we have a treehouse now. They have an AAA to promote and third party marketing deals to respect.
Since when do we have general direct in August ?..come on, just enjoy it and...IF, IF there's a general direct it would be announced in September, as it has always been when scheduled.
This treehouse doesn't confirm nor deny anything direct related, period.
I'd prefer if it was for something like Scarlet/Violet where we still haven't really seen the game in motion, but I love Splatoon so I'll take any extra tidbits any day of the week. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is only the 2nd time we've ever had one of these, isn't it (after that Paper Mario and Bakugan one back in 2020 during lockdown)?
I miss the normal Nintendo Directs…
I'm not too interested in either of these games, but it's great to have a Treehouse Live event!! Those were always so fun during E3. I was sad we didn't get that this year. So this will be cool!!
It always felt like a behind-the-scenes chance to hang out with people from Nintendo. Very cool vibe.
How did Treehouses work in the past? Didn't they show people stuff in the game nobody knew was there? Stuff that wasn't shown in Directs or am I imagining things again...?
For the 12-13 million Splatoon owners out there, there's nearly 10x as many people they still haven't reached and want to try and reach. Maybe it's for them...who knows.
Yessssss. I really wanna see ranked mode, but I’m sure it will focus on the new three way turf thing. Kinda wanna miss the single player. It’s so close, at this point I want to leave surprises
I'm not going to watch because I really want to experience the single player as fresh as possible. Maybe I'll catch up on the multiplayer stuff though.
hard pass for me as neither game is on my radar. Enjoy for those who are excited for this
Harvestella looks neat, and I still somehow feel like I know very little about Splatoon 3, so cool I guess. It's still going to have everyone asking the same question they've been asking since February.
Will tune in enthusiastically for the Harvestella content!
Welp, way to take the wind outta my sails!
@Grumblevolcano Harvestella tacked onto yet another Splatoon 3 showing does seem kind of odd but I'm still planning on a fall Direct to promote the holidays more. Surely we'll get an HD something - SMG2 maybe, they left it out for a reason. Also a fall Direct could show another winter spring game besides BotW2, though more on that would also be nice.
We were always going to get a Splatoon 3 Mini Direct, so this is that. Hopefully with 2 player couch co-op b/c that's the only reason the 3rd game in the series needs a Treehouse Live. Even if only for the single player. Or a vs maybe, but that would get old real quick.
Fingers crossed that Harvestella is good. Highly anticipating that game.
Well, at least we're dodging the standard "bUt HoW wIlL iT rUn On SwItCh?!" discourse, with regards to Harvestella.
I only found out yesterday that Splatoon 3 has a demo this weekend, so I’m very excited for that.
I'm excited for it! Anything is better than nothing, and both of these games are high on my wanted list!
@rjejr We got the Splatoon 3 Direct earlier this month, this is more like replacing the reminder in the general Direct that the game exists.
I mean where is a normal Direct???? Whats the wait for?
That is the 25th birthday of Goldeneye. Not expecting it to be revealed during the treehouse, just a fun fact
I don’t think I’ll watch this as honestly I’d rather just wait and see the splatoon single player for myself, and harvestella seems interesting but nothing I’m planning on buying anytime soon
I rue most Augusts since that's around the time we start getting tea bagged with Pokemon news on a daily basis, but this year it's been Splatoon 3 AND Pokemon.
I guess that's what I get for being spoiled with a new Metroid and a Zelda re-release last year.
I don't give a lick about Splatoon 3, but more info on Harvestella is welcomed.
@JnFnRu I think we'll see a normal Direct somewhere in September or October.
Nintendo is worried about Splatoon 3 success.
And Nintendo needs to be really worried.
What next a indie treehouse
I’m glad I have a backlog of games. Once again, news that reminds me of how boring, the video game industry feels, these days.
Eager to see more of that Harvestella! Looking so good!
I'll tune in. Nintendo Treehouse is always a chill time.
@Rykdrew Why would they be worried, just out of curiosity?
@Rykdrew
Why? Because the elite whiners on nintendolife said so? 😆
@WiltonRoots Because, apparently, this game does not attract so many casuals, but the aficionados.
And, at least based on forums like the ones here and in my country, nobody seems very interested.
Apparently, I repeat, apparently, it seems that this game will attract a much smaller audience than Splatoon 2, decreasing the installed base of a style of game that needs to grow in installed base, because this game is online-dependent.
I think, and I say now just for myself, and no one needs to agree, this game needs an offline mode against bots and/or splitscreen to be necessary and non online-dependent against random people.
I don't think this game survives in the nintendo ecosystem, with the fan profile that Nintendo has, just with minor modifications (splatoon 1.5 like). This game is not like Rainbow Six, for example...because the Nintendo audience is different. Just my opinion, of course!
Probably due to poor sales/preorders for splat3 to try and boost interest.
@Rykdrew Fair enough, I personally wouldn't take the opinions in places like here as a good benchmark, it's a small enthusiast crowd which rarely reflects the real world and probably makes up less than 0.1% of the buying public. I've seen so many "expert" opinions in here get crushed by reality over the years...when you see people say "celebrating mediocrity", it usually means their "expert" prediction was wrong.
The thing is if they make back the money they invested in developing the game, then they're making profit that's going straight in their pockets. BOTW only needed to sell 2 million copies to break even, for example.
Not long now until we see how it plays out. They've definitely been hyping it more than 2.
@WiltonRoots Let's hope you're right and the price of $60 for the base game + $29.90 (?) for the single player mode doesn't get in the way, and the installed base of the third version (seen as version 2.5) is not less than that of the second version. May the franchise not decrease!
It's a post pandemic world, where money is disputed with many other games, and also other consoles, Steam, etc... A world with many free online games of weight.
Nice to see Harvestella gameplay, that game has some potential to be quite good.
What's with the concern trolling over Splatoon 3 not selling well?! Do we have any data on this? If Splatoon 2 is anything to go by(selling 13M+ as of March of this year), Splatoon 3 is gonna be huge.
Yeah.. definitely one to skip...
Not interested in Splatoon. Mildly interested in Harvestella. Might watch that section if I don't have anything better to do. This is a problem with Nintendo (or me as a Nintendo customer) that there are phases where they would not announce or release anything of interest for me, and those phases go on for months, if not years. I think the last Nintendo game I bought was Luigi's Mansion 3. 2019 was the last time I was really interested in Nintendo stuff - since then it's kind of "whatever".
no rhythm heaven no click
Finally, I've missed treehouse
Who knows, maybe they’ll confirm/debunk a certain something about Splatoon 3 that’ll determine whether I’ll make a purchase or not.
Still waiting and hoping for a September direct though.
@Grumblevolcano Still need a real ND though I think. I mean you know I'm as negative as they come and something will come up that makes me think no ND this fall, like they shadow drop a BOtW2 trailer on Twitter w/ a release date, but until then I'm still thinkin' ND, if only to promote some hardware BF sales and such. Still waiting on my Sephiroth amiibo. Once an FF7 fanboi, always an FF7 fanboi. 😂
Is it just me who has no clue what Harvestella is?
I'm glad to hear more about single-player. But why is Nintendo so all over the place with how they're revealing and marketing stuff now...?
A big general direct would have seemed so much more organized. I also don't get why more about single-player wasn't just in the Splatoon direct. But hey, I'll take it all the same.
It's likely we'll get a full fat Nintendo Direct after Tokyo games show in mid-September but before the month is over. So about a month left until that time.
@Rykdrew I see. My opinion is that the casuals will get attracted later, when updates add something trendy. No harm in looking at it later when something genuinely cool happens. Having one thing like that at launch besides tricolour turf wars, which is currently locked behind an event, would be lovely.
I think that they're hiding their hand with story stuff, but not anything super-duper amazing.
I think this is bad marketing because their methods feel similar to NEO:The world ends with you, where the fans were meant to carry the game's sales by word of mouth.
Splatoon 2 is a snapshot of what the game was right now, and currently Splatoon 3 is close to that snapshot… If Splatoon 3 does not shift away from 2 with time. I am not getting Splatoon 4. I barely remember Splatoon 2's updates, so perhaps that's a bad sign, but I was a teenager with a ton going on then, so I don't really know for certain.
@Rykdrew $60 includes the price of the single player + online battles. The multiplayer is the draw for a lot of people, but the single player in these games has always been quite a lot of fun also, with a lot of levels, collectibles, bosses, and lore. Any DLC would be in addition to what's already there.
