Pikmin Bloom is the latest AR mobile release from Niantic that ties in with a prominent Nintendo franchise, following the enormous success of Pokémon GO. It's evidently designed to be a little more relaxed in its objectives and targets, as it's focused on making more Pikmin friends and bringing flowers to bloom as opposed to capturing a huge range of Pocket Monsters.
We went hands on with the app earlier this week (below) as it underwent a soft launch in a limited number of countries.
Its roll-out now seems to be picking up pace, with Nintendo confirming that it's available to download throughout the Americas.

It seems likely that the roll-out will progress fairly quickly, with Nintendo of Europe confirming it'll arrive in the region 'soon'.
Let us know if you're planning to check this out!

Really intrigued by this one. I've set it for registration and automatic download when it releases in the UK
....and of course I can't play it because my phone isn't supported...even though I meet the requirements...
Right...of course, whenever it's a mobile game I'm interested in, I can't try it. T.T
it looks fun, but it won't run on my dated phone
oh well. at least I can still play Pokemon Go (for now).
Downloading now! It's quite nice out here in the cornfields of northwestern Ohio on this crisp fall day, so I think a nice long stroll outdoors will be in order this evening.
This thing asks for a mountain of permissions, moreso than Pkmn GO, including installing and linking Google Fit.
Crud! Now I have to get it🤣
I don't understand.
Fun game, got run over while getting a new Pikmin, currently in the hospital, 10/10
As someone who lives in South America I can confirm it is indeed available in this America too.
Hard to get behind a game where the Pikmin aren’t dying..
Major 3DS step counter vibes.
I downloaded this, but it wouldn't let me sign in with my My Nintendo account because it is not a kids account. I have now deleted it, oh well.
Played it for a bit and it’s nice! It’s not very “game-y” but it’s a neat background thing that encourages you to check up every now and then. The flower trails are neat as well since you can see where others have walked; I was shocked to see someone else had already laid a flower trail on my school campus.
It’s not super engaging but that’s not the point of it. It’s a neat little app. If you can, I say try it for a bit.
My older phone is not supported, which is odd considering I can play Pokemon Go. Maybe it'll be supported once the rollout has progressed some.
I got my fill of the great outdoors with Pokémon Go, I'm good. Now if you'll excuse me, I must retire back to my fat, sweaty nerd lifestyle of closed blinds and high caffeine carbonated beverages.
I always had login and loading issues with Nintendo's mobile games... they take forever to load, they always need downloads, so eventually I just gave up.
But I hope the game does well... I'd like another traditional Pikmin.
Downloading! It is finally getting cool so I will be walking more.
Niantic has horrible privacy practices just look at the privacy information for their games on the App Store.
@switchscreenshots There is zero percent chance that it requires a kids' account. You're doing something wrong.
It's also working here in Brazil. Downloaded it and said to myself: "I'm going to be the first to plant some flowers at the park"... impressively, I wasn't!
Come to the UK already.
I've singlehandedly turned my high school into flowers right now, so I'm having fun haha
@Broosh It's gotta track your steps, something pokemon go doesn't do
@Bret I signed in, or tried to, using my My Nintendo account and it said, “This is not a kids account”. Could have been a temporary glitch. Have you been able to get in?
@NinChocolate walk in the street and they might
WE ARE PIKMIN! HEAR US MOO!
FINALLY pikmin4 has arrived. Thanks, Me a Moe Toes.
I searched the App Store for “Pikmin Bloom” and was greeted with a nice auto-complete suggestion. I hit enter. No results …. Ummm okay… 🤨😑
So then I had to go to the Pokémon Go app page, tap more by this developer (Niantic), and bam there it was.
Downloading now!
Seems to be a lot more laid back experience than Pokemon Go which had you glancing at your phone every few seconds when a new Pokemon appeared. From the little I've "played", you just keep the phone in your pocket as you walk around and then check your progress from time to time. Perhaps there's more to it as you progress.
Lovely that they released this one right before it begins to snow in my area. Lace up my snow shoes? I suppose I will.
I like it! It feels more like a compliment to my runs and may encourage me to go more often. The microtransactions look standard (gross), but I don’t feel pressured to spend at this time since I’m more then likely to treat this more as a lifestyle app then a game.
Edit - threw 2 bucks at it for the starter pack. It was very generous with petals!
@switchscreenshots I haven't tried, I'm not interested. But it wouldn't make any sense to lock the game to only kids accounts.
Gameplay aside, some of the assests make it obvious how dated Pokemon GO is.
Ingres got rebooted for it's 5 year aniversary so...
@switchscreenshots i just used google and linked mt Nintendo account.
Pokemon Go were uninstalled after 5 mins years ago.
Pikmin is so much better.
@Dilly-Mick I did that too but on my brothers phone when I was trying to set it up it only allowed Nintendo or Niantic kids.
@switchscreenshots delete the game and make sure the birthday you put in at the beginning in an adult, that’s how I fixed it
