@faint no, in every region, there are two switch bundles, the first being the grey joy-con bundle and the second being the the neon blue joy-con(Left)/red joy-con (Right) switch bundle. If you've seen it reversed, it must be from a separate 2 joy-con set that have the colours swapped (so that you could make all red or all blue switches). OR someone bought the switch off the Japanese my Nintendo store and customized their switch purchase how ever they wanted (3 colours for each joy-con and 4 colours for each joy-con strap). I wish Nintendo would make a my Nintendo store for all countries!
@gatorboi352 umm... they probably expected it as they know their own stock numbers being shipped out... you seriously can't buy a normal retail price Switch here... Trust me I've been checking a ton of stores regularly and it's just all sold out... Mind you I'm in Hiroshima, so maybe there are more else where, but man good luck finding one... the thing is selling out as fast as the stores can stock them... I just want a normal retail priced Switch, is that so hard to ask?!?!?!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I would add Pokemon and possibly Yokai Watch to that list of series that sell gangbusters in Japan. Pokemon is just as big as DQ and MH in Japan. Yokai Watch is big, but it is new and targeted towards kids so we'll see if it can sell a ton of Switch systems as it did for 3DS.
To be fair this survey is a least from January. So many developers may have still been under NDA and so never mentioned that they were working on Nintendo Switch. But maybe there were only 135 (3%) developers working on the system from that point. It's hard to know. But I'm sure it's higher than that now.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE @Luna_110 It's cheaper because it's ONLY the dock, the HDMI cable and the Nintendo Switch AC adapter are sold separately. Together it's still $90US. I'm assuming any AC adapter will work, but if you don't have a spare AC adapter of HDMI cable you'll still need to out and buy those...... Still a terrible price... Why isn't this thing $20US. If it was this cheap, tons of people would buy multiple docks for every major TV in their house!
Love this game! I've played the heck out of Kingdom and Kingdom: New Lands. They've got my support! Hopefully, I can convince my wife to play this with me too!
@JHDK The new Fifa isn't a last gen port, Peter Moore says isn't a custom build fifa game for Switch. That doesn't sound like a port of the PS360 versions. Granted it "could" be based off of those versions, like taking assets and what not. But it could also be a downgraded X1 version.
@Bulbousaur If you go to Nintendo.com and go the the Nintendo Switch Features area and scroll down, you can get a closer look at the Switch, the Dock, the Joy-con, the Grip and the Joy-con straps. You can see everything in them (minus the actual IR Motion Camera, but it's indicated, you just can't see it). So the Gamecube controller adapter will eventually be updated in threw a firmware update. They just won't patch it in until Smash get's released on the Switch.
@Nik-Davies Can't use just use the same figurines? I’m not well versed on the series, but aren't the figures "backwards compatible" per se? The DK and Bowser ones should at the very least work if you have those.
@kevfrei my vote is on the Neon! After I get my hands on a Neon Switch, I’ll pick up that 2 pack of joy-con that red (left) and blue (right), that way I can go all blue or all red whenever I want.
@DarthNocturnal You also need to remember the Wii U in Canada was indeed priced at 350, but that's when our dollar was close to par. Now our dollar is something like 74 cents american, we have our crappy dollar to thank for the Switch being 400 this time. Using the american dollar, the switch is actually cheaper than the Wii U. We just got screwed.... Thanks to our dollar the PS4 slim with uncharted is 350 while the Switch with no game will be 400. So I worry how well this will do in Canada. That's certainly not an impulse buy price...
@cleveland124 @MarcelRguez @Kimite It all really repends of when the console it sell launches in March. The NA market is the largest gaming market and the Wii U sold 400,000 in it's first week and sold a total of 425,000 in the whole month of November (just shy of two weeks) That's not very much. I predicting the Switch to do way better than the Wii U. I think it will be a very late March release globally just to they can sell 2m units for the 2016 fiscal year and the bulk of the sells will come after the end of March. They probably just want enough Switches to help satisfy their shareholder with the 2016 fiscal year and then blow that year out of the water with the 2017 fiscal year. I'm guessing it will be a March 26th ish launch, giving it a week ish worth of sales to pick up the Wii U's slack this year.
Please bring Fatal Frame 2 Wii Edition to North America, I want it so much!!! I don't even care if there is a discount on that game, I would pay full price! I'm okay with no "american english" translations, give it to me in it's raw and natural english!
@allav866 November 2nd is the Animal Crossing direct, the date was confirmed in the previous Japanese 3DS direct. No idea why they didn't confirm that in the EU or NA directs. They also simply said Animal Crossing Direct, so there's a possibility they may even reveal information on the AC mobile app as well. I hope they do, as I really want to know what that app will be like.
@BLPs @Chandlero That is also not quite true. Normal gambling payout are indeed illegal in Japan. Exceptions to this rule are the lottery as you said, but also betting on horse races, boat races and bicycle/motor cycle races are completely legal. I'm not sure about sumo though... There's no sumo in Hiroshima, only Tokyo.
Now what pachinko & slot parlors do, is they go through a loop hole. This is how Konami, Sega, Namco, etc, make a ton of there money. One must buy "balls" and tokens from the parlor (just like you would at any normal arcade venue) and you just play. Now if you've managed to accumulate a ton more "balls"/tokens, you will leave the "establishment" by entering the building next door (that is usually literally connected to the parlor) and you sell them your "ball"/token and get your money. The building next door is effectively a "pawn shop" that ONLY takes "balls" and tokens. BUT the prime minister of Japan, wants to have a real casino up and running before the Tokyo Olympic games. I for one hope it happens, Casinos are beautiful, exciting and a fun place to go. Pachinko parlor may be ridiculously loud and have lots of pretty shiny lights, but the people in there kind of look bored and depressed..
@Wendigo Well there's no details about that, but Nintendo and USJapan are planning to have it open before the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games. So if that's anything to go by, I'd imagine at least one of the US in the US would have it up around then, give or take a year. But I'm just speculated of course.
Oh your right, there is PAX west at the beginning of September. Maybe we'll get some news there. PAX is indeed a big deal, but I'm not sure if it's big with the mainstream media.
September does seem like the perfect time to announce the system and get great coverage and hands-on in the US, UK and Japan.
@Peace-Boy It really doesn't take them that long to set these things up, even if it does, they could simply send a second team to set of the EGX stuff while the TGS crew packs everything up. That way the key devs can just fly in. As for big events in the US after September... I think the next big one is Dice Summit in February of 2017.
@Matclip A reveal with a Nintendo Direct is certainly a possibility, but the problem with Nintendo Directs are that they simply preache to the choir. Nintendo is going to want to catch the eyes of PS, Xbox, PC fans and the mainstream audience. Sure gaming website will check out Direct, but big events will get mainstream media coverage. Who knows though, we'll have to wait and see.
@Anti-Matter This is fantastic! Everyone knows that Tom Nook is secretly the villain of this series. He's the one pulling all the string behind closed door. Forcing you to work to the bone to pay off your debts. This group just took this idea and ran with it. Sure it does seem out of place due to the sheer cuteness level of this series, but it fits it so well. I look forward to watching it all.
@ThomasBW84 Nintendo has been in the Chinese market since the early 2000's. They've got the iQue in China. You guys should make an article about that someday.
@GrandpaPixel @Grumblevolcano I honestly doubt that will happen, slopes will probably be one of the new key features of Super Mario Maker 2 for NX (Granted, it all depends on what the NX is! haha). I'm sure of it. Slops would be a huge deal, seems silly to me to add them in once the Wii U is dead.... Imagine, Super Mario Maker NX, SLOPES edition... haha
I also think that adding slopes would require some retooling of the game/physics engine, which is something I'm sure they don't want to play around with until a sequel get's made OR an NX port of the game is made. Everyone wants them, so I think it's a good selling point for SMM2 (and a SMB2 style! )
@Ryu_Niiyama Actually the opposite. China doesn't really care about infringing on non chinese ideas. Therefore this wouldn't be an easy win for Nintendo. I wonder if they will even bother to pursue it.
@Peace-Boy That's like saying "How will they reveal it in Japan, E3 is US Only.". If it's revealed at TGS, it's still going to be revealed to the world. . Besides, after the reveal at TGS, they could easily bring everything NX related to EGX since it's literally the following weekend. This way they have their official reveal, followed by an English blowout.
As of right now, according to VGChartz HW has sold 1.24m copies, where as HWL has only sold 0.34m copies. So by just looking at those numbers, wouldn't it make sense to port this DLC over to the Wii U edition?!?
@crimsontadpoles Actually I watch his new show, Pacter Factor, on youtube and he's quick positive about Nintendo nowadays. He just seemed to really despise the Wii U. It almost seemed like a phase for him
oops, let me just switch your names around... haha
@Luffymcduck It's quite possible, it all depends on what the NX turns out to be.
@Sanicranfast No that isn't true, https://mynintendonews.com/2016/06/16/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-features-different-visuals-on-nx-but-same-experience/
If you read the short article, and if the guy is to be believed, the "different visual" is most certainly, cosmetic upgrades, better textures, less pop-in, possibly even 1080p 60fps. No one but Nintendo knows to answer to that yet though.
Semptember does seem like a great month to reveal the NX. There's both the Tokyo Game Show AND EGX. 1) TGS is September 15th - 18th 2) EGX is September 22nd - 25th. Personally I think revealing it at TGS and then bringing it to EGX would be a great move. Sure Nintendo doesn't traditionally go to TGS but they did go to reveal the Wiimote, maybe they will do the same for the NX. I really hope this is what they will do, I really DON'T WANT a Nintendo direct reveal. Nintendo directs are way to isolating and only cater to current Wii U/3DS crowd.... Sure TGS and EGX is not as "big" as E3 but they are both the biggest in their respective countries.
@Kirk That's the spirit! Don't worry about any of it. Just play the 'wait for Nintendo to reveal it' game. I've been playing this game ever since the Wii U essentially dried up. Since I've been waiting this long, what's a few more months anyways? haha
You can see it in most videos, but it's most apparent when you are gliding around. You can't not notice it. I noticed the pop in myself but didn't notice the detail blur. If you watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg6hnrC_vgU You'll certainly see it. the guy talks about it too. The pop in stuff starts at about the 4:00 mark. The pop-in in XCX is better in my opinion. XCX has more of a fade in style of pop in, Zelda has literal pop in.
I don't know the NX will be more powerful, I'm just making a calculated opinion. Nintendo has never release a new system on par or weaker than the preview generation. Even the Wii was more powerful than the GCN. If the NX is again the same style as GCN to Wii, that would make the NX two WiiU "duct tape" together, would still result in the NX version of Zelda being the superior version. The Xbox One Slim will be priced as the same as the Wii U yet it's way more powerful. Nintendo can easily may their onw new system with Xbox One spec and price it for 300$. Again we know nothing about the NX, but how likely will the NX be on par with the Wii U? I know they said the NX won't replace the Wii U OR 3DS (but this statement is still true if the NX replaces BOTH the Wii U AND 3DS (words can change everything haha)). If the only change between the two versions, is lighting, textures, etc, it means it's still the same experience, but one is prettier.
If your interested in that line where the detail goes blurry it's at the 5:26 mark of the video.
@jariw You said that, but even if the Wii U version put the map on the 2nd screen like we saw at the game awards, the NX version is going to be the superior version. Really watch the Zelda Wii U footage. The textures/details once past a certain point are super blurry and the amount of sudden pop in is crazy. As long as the NX is more powerful than the Wii U, it will fix all these things. Trees, rocks, landscapes, etc, popping in really takes you out of the immersion of the game. Heck if you watch the footage closely you can even see a LINE where the textures/details in the distance become blurry (and it's not even far ahead of Link himself). Don't get me wrong, this game is beautiful, but it's going to be more beautiful on the NX. The NX version is going to be the definitive version (with or without Wii U gamepad extras).
@Spoony_Tech Just don't get your hopes up, Zelda currently has a 2017 release date. I too also think it will launch along side the NX, but I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out in May (for example), or even for the Holiday season.
@Kirk I feel you're creating a lot of needless worry for yourself. Nintendo would never release a controller like this as the pack in controller. As a secondary peripheral that's a possibility and anyone's guess. Nintendo releasing that touch screen controller with 2 analog sticks would be way better than this terrible idea. The NX and it's horseshoe controller would give the Virtual Boy a serious run for it's money, as no one would buy this system. It would be a huge flop out of the gate. Nintendo isn't NOT prone to shooting themselves in the foot with their ideas, but this would be beyond shooting themselves in the foot.... Here are example of what this could be for: http://www.theverge.com/2016/4/25/11504896/heres-what-nintendos-weird-u-shaped-controller-patent-might-actually None of those options even indicate it being the pack-in controller of the NX. Mostly related to health stuff. Heck this controller ( http://kotaku.com/5334428/nintendos-shameful-inflatable-horse-riding-wii-controller ) can still come to the NX. Companies make patents, that they never use, all the time. Personally if this controller is real, it's going to be related to their "Quality of Life" initiative. I think you just need to calm down, don't panic and just wait. Don't believe everything you see and read on the internet.
@Captain_Gonru Most of Nintendo's handhelds have launched between February and April, the only exceptions were Gameboy Color and the original DS, which both launched in November. The DS didn't become successful until the launch of the DS Lite which also lauched in March. There is absolutely nothing wrong with March. What I'm sure they learnt from the 3DS launch is that you can't launch a new system at a crazy price with zero worthwhile games. The Wii U doesn't have a great reputation, and it's still priced at almost the original price... Depending on what the NX is, it's price and it's future potential, I could see way more people buying the new NX for Zelda (also for it's future) rather than buying a old, expensive and poorly received console for Zelda. The Wii version of TP did not outsell the GCN version due to motion control, it's because it was a new exciting system with future potential, the GCN was a dead console.
@Grumblevolcano I can also see them doing that but I don't see why Nintendo would look to Rayman (which isn't a big seller) or Crash Bandicoot (that really hasn't been relevant since the Playstation era. I agree with the concept, but I think Nintendo will have a hard time looking at Western games to change Mario games...
@Kirk The GCN and Wii both released with no new 'Mario Platformer' and the Wii U did... Even the GCN sold way more the the Wii U will ever manage to sell. I don't think they need to launch with Mario. Personally I think Zelda BotW would be the better launch title. Get the hardcore to buy an NX for Zelda and then cement them in with a awesome Mario game.
@Seacliff umm.. your taste buds are not in your throat.... so you can't taste sour (or anything) in your throat.... Your taste buds are on your tongue and there for you would be left with a sour taste in your mouth.
@A01 6 games, 1) Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE 2) Monster Hunter Generation 3) Dragon Quest VII 4) Paper Mario (Surprise Treehouse demo) 5) Mario Party (New reveal and Treehouse demo) 6) Pokemon Sun/Moon
@rjejr wait, are you saying that they have an IQ of 12, or an IQ of a 12 year old child, sounds like you said the former, which would be illiterate people who can't even do simple chores, let alone use the internet to navigate miiverse... An IQ of 12 is way lower than the IQ of a 1st grader... You should really cut them some slack, they at least have an IQ of 50! hahah
@Lord How is buying digital content of video games an investment? You are surely investing your 'time' into these games, but your talking about investing money, how are you going to see profitable returns if you buy these games digitally?
@NintendoFan64 No Nintendo hasn't confirmed anything besides a NX release month and that Zelda NX is a thing. Everything else is simply speculation and rumours. So the NX is still a complete mystery.
I hope this system isn't backwards compatible with physical games, as I hope they completely leave behind the Wii U (I love my Wii U but Nintendo needs to stop making hard to develop for systems). Nintendo could easily update the eshop and it's games to allow for digital game transfers, but my guess it will just be VC titles that end up backwards compatible as these would take the least amount of effort to do.
I have to admit the female voices were spot on and the group did a great job on this, but unfortunately they fall exactly in the line with the others in Sm4sh, boring and not funny....
Snake's codec which weren't all funny or great, were far superior to these Palutena's Guidances.
@TheDavyStar I upgrades my copy of Startropics to the Wii U, and the letter is replicated in the digital manual, while in the game, press the 'Home' button and so to the story section, you'll see the same letter is there, but in picture format, next there is a button that says "submerge it", click and you'll see the hidden message.
@TheRedCap30 I wouldn't say Jiggs was a joke character in 64, she was in fact one of the most popular characters in pokemon at the time due to the anime. Mewtwo got the short end of the stick for Brawl, Jiggs got in, how's that the short end? As for Smash 4, I also feel she's in simply due to being part of the original 12. Jiggs' popularity in Pokemon (games and anime) is very low now, sure she got a tiny little bump due to the introduction of the fairy type 3 years ago, but she's mostly relevant because of Smash. I thought for sure she would have been cut for Smash 4. Now I think she'll be back for a future Smash 5 just because she's part of the original 12...
@TheDavyStar In the digital manual itself (comes with the VC version of Startropics), you will find a letter (it's digital of course), click on it, and you will watch the letter automatically dip itself into a pale of water (in digital form). Just try it, you'll see. It's a nice touch. Keeps it in the spirit of the original game (but in digital form)! haha

Re: Chinese App, 'Pocket All-Stars Smash Bros.', Uses Nintendo, Capcom and SEGA Franchises
@ThomasBW84 Nintendo has been in the Chinese market since the early 2000's. They've got the iQue in China. You guys should make an article about that someday.
Re: Nintendo Download: 30th June (North America)
Where's the "I'm going to buy said digital download physically".
I'd love to vote for ZTD, but I'm buying a physical copy when I get the chance.
Re: Splatoon's Last Splatfest is Next Month
Everyone wants them, so I think it's a good selling point for SMM2 (and a SMB2 style! )
Re: Splatoon Comes To Smartphones, But Not In Quite The Way You Think
@Ryu_Niiyama Actually the opposite. China doesn't really care about infringing on non chinese ideas. Therefore this wouldn't be an easy win for Nintendo. I wonder if they will even bother to pursue it.
Re: Nintendo Outlines Ambitious Plans For UK's Hyper Japan Festival 2016
@Peace-Boy That's like saying "How will they reveal it in Japan, E3 is US Only.". If it's revealed at TGS, it's still going to be revealed to the world. . Besides, after the reveal at TGS, they could easily bring everything NX related to EGX since it's literally the following weekend. This way they have their official reveal, followed by an English blowout.
Re: Video: Take a Look at the Hyrule Warriors Legends Link's Awakening DLC, Due On 30th June
As of right now, according to VGChartz HW has sold 1.24m copies,
where as HWL has only sold 0.34m copies. So by just looking at those numbers, wouldn't it make sense to port this DLC over to the Wii U edition?!?
Re: Gaming Analyst Thinks Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Will Sell 10 Million Nintendo NX Consoles "Pretty Quickly"
@crimsontadpoles Actually I watch his new show, Pacter Factor, on youtube and he's quick positive about Nintendo nowadays. He just seemed to really despise the Wii U. It almost seemed like a phase for him
Re: Digital Foundry Assesses the Technology and Framerate in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
oops, let me just switch your names around... haha
@Luffymcduck It's quite possible, it all depends on what the NX turns out to be.
@Sanicranfast No that isn't true,
https://mynintendonews.com/2016/06/16/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-features-different-visuals-on-nx-but-same-experience/
If you read the short article, and if the guy is to be believed, the "different visual" is most certainly, cosmetic upgrades, better textures, less pop-in, possibly even 1080p 60fps. No one but Nintendo knows to answer to that yet though.
Re: Rumour: French Media Claims Nintendo NX is Set for September Reveal
Re: Rumour: French Media Claims Nintendo NX is Set for September Reveal
@Kirk That's the spirit! Don't worry about any of it. Just play the 'wait for Nintendo to reveal it' game. I've been playing this game ever since the Wii U essentially dried up. Since I've been waiting this long, what's a few more months anyways? haha
Re: Video: See Even More of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild With Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo Minute
You can see it in most videos, but it's most apparent when you are gliding around. You can't not notice it.
I noticed the pop in myself but didn't notice the detail blur.
If you watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg6hnrC_vgU
You'll certainly see it. the guy talks about it too.
Re: Video: See Even More of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild With Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo Minute
Re: Video: See Even More of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild With Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo Minute
@Spoony_Tech Just don't get your hopes up, Zelda currently has a 2017 release date. I too also think it will launch along side the NX, but I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out in May (for example), or even for the Holiday season.
Re: Delays With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Due to Physics Engine and Dual Release Decision
Here are example of what this could be for:
http://www.theverge.com/2016/4/25/11504896/heres-what-nintendos-weird-u-shaped-controller-patent-might-actually
None of those options even indicate it being the pack-in controller of the NX.
Re: Nintendo Outlines Key Goals to Ensure NX Success
Re: E3 2016: New Kind Of Mario Game Is Coming, Says Shigeru Miyamoto
Re: Monster Hunter Generations Demo Codes Are On the Way in North America
Is the "your code" registered to a specific NNID or are both codes meant for any 3DS?
Re: Paper Mario: Color Splash Dated for 7th October
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy Don't forget Monster Hunter!
Re: Paper Mario: Color Splash Dated for 7th October
@Seacliff umm.. your taste buds are not in your throat.... so you can't taste sour (or anything) in your throat....
Your taste buds are on your tongue and there for you would be left with a sour taste in your mouth.
Re: Paper Mario: Color Splash Dated for 7th October
@A01 6 games,
1) Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
2) Monster Hunter Generation
3) Dragon Quest VII
4) Paper Mario (Surprise Treehouse demo)
5) Mario Party (New reveal and Treehouse demo)
6) Pokemon Sun/Moon
Re: The Nintendo@E3 2016 Miiverse Community is Live and Full of Unrealistic Expectations
You should really cut them some slack, they at least have an IQ of 50! hahah
Re: Nintendo Announces E3 eShop Discount Plans and Miitomo x The Legend of Zelda Promotion
Re: Video: Fans Enact 'Palutena's Guidance' With Smash 4's Latest DLC Characters
I have to admit the female voices were spot on and the group did a great job on this, but unfortunately they fall exactly in the line with the others in Sm4sh, boring and not funny....
Snake's codec which weren't all funny or great, were far superior to these Palutena's Guidances.
Re: North America Gets Both StarTropics Games for This Week's Wii U Download Update
Re: Nintendo of America Partners Up With CEO 2016 for Smash Bros. Melee and Wii U Tournaments
Re: North America Gets Both StarTropics Games for This Week's Wii U Download Update
@TheDavyStar In the digital manual itself (comes with the VC version of Startropics), you will find a letter (it's digital of course), click on it, and you will watch the letter automatically dip itself into a pale of water (in digital form). Just try it, you'll see. It's a nice touch. Keeps it in the spirit of the original game (but in digital form)! haha
