Original is the best, if not play it on PC.

They should both be $40 at this point.

All of these games are free on PC. Emulation has saved game preservation.

I’m not really too worried about this as the original games are what matters, not Nintendo’s poor emulation.

@Snakesglowcaps I could literally put some roms and emulators on an SD card in 20 minutes that don’t have any of these issues.

I got this for free on PSN. It’s a good game, but I wouldn’t pay more than $40 for it.

@Tuney because these are just virtual console games. Crash and tony hawk remakes are $40. These are just the game with a built in emulator for $60.

Plus regardless of how limited (or not) this game is, it won’t have the demand that original copies do.

Game collectors want original copies, and speed runners have to use original hardware usually.

Sunshine sells for $60. I bought a copy last year complete for $40.

By all means buy these overpriced Roms. It’s your money. I already have these games.

@Deltath Yeah the portability of the switch really does nothing for me. I stopped liking handhelds when I was 10 or 11.

I do play mostly RPGs anymore, and yes Xenogears (Xeno is my favorite series) was on PS1, even then I still prefer the 64. I actually replayed Xenogears just last month.

I do agree that double dash is the best Mario kart.

My first console was an Atari 800XL, then NES, then game boy, and then finally 64. I didn’t get a SNES until I already had a 64, but I played it all the time at friends and families houses.

Like I said, no other console has as many games that I enjoy outside of 64. If it had a Xenogears and MGS port it would be even better, but it is what it is.

Hopefully we get a new Xenoblade game soon.

@NintendoByNature sure, but $60? At best it should be $30. And this collection is better on their original hardware, or emulated on a pc, or even a mid range phone.

@HobbitGamer that’s why lubricating them is essential. If lubricated, the sticks don’t degrade. All of mine are still tight. And yes, the precision on a tight 64 stick is unparalleled.

@NintendoByNature not really. No stick has the precision of an N64 stick, and as these are running via emulation, PC does a better job.

@Deltath I still play my 64 regularly. Beat SF64 last night when I was bored. It still looks good on a crt or plasma tv. I’m 30.

All of those games I really like. Meanwhile I struggle to name 5 switch games I like.

@Deltath there’s a reason people my age hold the 64 in such high regards. It might not appeal to zoomers , but the 64 has the best multiplayer and quick pick up games.

Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Blast Corps, Goldeneye, Diddy kong racing, Banjo Kazooie, Ocerina of Time, F-Zero X, BattleTanx 1 and 2, Perfect Dark, Banjo Tooie, Excitebike 64, Pokémon Stadium, Jet Force Gemini, DK64, Mario Party (any, until 6 they were all good), Majoras mask, Tony Hawk 1 and 2, Rainbow Six, Star Fox 64, Resident Evil 2, Wipeout 64, Ridge Racer 64, Wave Race 64, Yoshis Story, Killer instinct gold, Conkers bad fur day, The World is Not Enough, Rogue Squadron, and more I can’t think of off the top of my head.

Hell I will say the N64 has more games I actually would want to play than any other console.

@Mynameishello backing up saves on your computer is even better. Portability is overrated, but phones can emulate too. I see no raison d’etre for the snes app, but that’s just me.

It’s the increase in resolution. Any (PC/Android/Mac)emulator could do this.

You also need to compare original resolution on a CRT or nice plasma tv to this version.

Ultimately I think the minor increase in image quality isn’t worth not playing them on original hardware.

@kingbk Nintendo 64 is Nintendo’s best console, especially if you want to play with friends. It has more really good games than any of Nintendo’s other consoles besides the SNES, and I find the games on 64 to be more fun.

Copying data is not theft. I collect retro games, but I also have every Nintendo game ever made up until 2006 on my PC.

@AlienigenX “the way they are supposed to run”. You realize this is an emulator too right? I was emulating snes and n64 in 2003 on my viao that only had a 2.4ghz Pentium 4HT. SNES emulation was never very bad. 64 was a bit more tricky.

This and Chrono Trigger were literally the first games I put on my SNES Classic. Probably the greatest platformer ever made.

I remember thinking how ugly these were when they showed them off at space world 2000.

Yes but panic restaurant is a single release. This is a rerelease of older games.

As long as batteries are available. The console won’t boot without a battery. Unless of course they have a docked only model coming out.

This game is limited for a time, but Nintendo will keep producing it during that time. It’s going to be replaced by a better version anyway, which is why it’s limited.

A working switch in 10 years will be more rare.

@Slowdive collectors and speed runners use and want the original copy. Rereleases are never worth anything at the end of the day.

Yeah I’d love to see n64 games without that size limit. Perhaps some of those mods we see for emulators. I don’t have an ever drive, but I wonder if they would work on actual hardware.

With how the switch is built, having a working switch in 8 years will be more rare than this game.

N64 is my favorite system, but the cartridges were a dumb move. They should have made the system accept minidiscs or something. I will say I do think the n64 cartridges are the most aesthetic.

Yeah the first Mario is best on NES but the others are best on snes.

With 8s performance issues on switch, I’ll be getting this on PS4.

I was only really a 90s fan of them. The only Rare games from the 90s I do not own are Mickeys Speedway, and Diddy Kong Racing.

DKC, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, Blast Corps, Killer Instinct, etc made the N64. I'd argue that the N64 was more of a Rare console than Nintendo...

I disagree on the hardware side. Switch is just a tablet, and pretty much all of the games could be played on better hardware.

I would like to see Nintendo put their games on PC at least.
