A double pack release containing both Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Party in one tasty bundle has appeared for Switch owners in the US.
The bundle is available exclusively at Target, with pre-orders already open as we speak. It launches on 4th October and is priced at $99.99, meaning you're effectively saving a total of $10 versus buying each title individually.
It'll be available both online and in-store, but online pre-orders also come with a $10 Target gift card.
You probably don't need us to tell you this, but you're getting two very fine games for your money here. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is arguably the best the series has ever seen, and while the same probably can't be said for Super Mario Party, you'll still get plenty of multiplayer fun out of it. You can find our full reviews of each title below if you're interested.

I recall people saying super mario party wasnt very good, which is a shame because there was one on gamecube I quite enjoyed, mario party 6 iirc
I'm still a bit annoyed there hasn't been a proper new Mario Kart since 2014.
The only way they can manage to sell this attempt at a Mario Party game
They've been doing a lot of pack-ins recently with other things, that's a very good thing.
I don't own either of these games physically (just MK8DX digitally), so it might be nice to get this.
Not really necessary though, I've played Super Mario Party and wasn't all that impressed with it. We quickly went back to playing Smash Ultimate.
@Doktor-Mandrake Compared to more recent entries it's pretty good, there just isn't enough.
The lack of boards was my main issue, but the ones that are there are fun.
@Doktor-Mandrake Having played every Mario Party, I'd say Super Mario Party falls between the Gamecube and Wii U releases in terms of fun.
It's not as good as 5-7 on the Gamecube, or 2-3 on the N64, but it's better than Mario Party 8-10 for sure.
Buying them separately would cost you $120, and since these are $99 as a bundle with a $10 gift card, aren’t you saving $30, technically?
@Doktor-Mandrake it’s still pretty good fun, especially with kids! Way better than the Wii and Wii U installments.
If you like minigames or if you have kids, I’d recommend it.
@Shamrock they did, the links are underneath the article.
What are YOU doing?
I have both already but that is an excellent double pack. The best so far on the Switch. Lol.
MK8Deluxe is an all time great and Mario Party Switch is good if not the best in the series.
For who is this? Almost everyone owns MK.
I'd prefer vouchers
@Xeno_Aura ya I did consider getting it for my switch when I first got my console last year, but couldn't justify the £40 for it especially when I've heard the online mp is quite limited (no boards) and dont think I'd of played it much for local play with others
Just checked and it's still £40, I'm kinda sitting on it hoping we'll get another mario party for this platform, I cant see nintendo moving on from Switch anytime soon
Lol you only save $10? That's a really lame deal.
Oh cool, the best Mario Racing Game and the beloved return of the formula everyone loved. All in one tiny Cereal box.
Will both games be on one game card? Or one game card + one download code?
Already have physical mk8. I would only get mario party if it's $10, which will probably never happen.
@thesilverbrick Yes. It's Nintendo Life though, so what do you expect?
@WoomyNNYes No, they are on separate game cards. You can see on the spine that there are pictures of both game boxes. Looks like it's just both games, but in a box just big enough to contain the two smaller boxes.
@Doktor-Mandrake
For what it's worth I liked it.
The box looks like two 3ds boxes posing as an adult
The double pack of games Nintendo refuses to support post launch.
@Doktor-Mandrake It sucked. It was nice to play Mario Party on the switch, but there were so little boards, alongside the boards being so incredibly small. The lack of DLC made it even worse.
They should both be $40 at this point.
A little DLC could make Super Mario Party great, as opposed to just serviceable.
Ah, I miss Target.
I want nintendo select prices on switch
Oh wow... ten dollar savings. 🙄
I feel this means that Mario Party DLC is incoming!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!
A 3d world + Toad treasure bundle wpuld be cool. I dont think id get this though. Played mk8 on wiiu and got pretty bored of it and i dont have anyone irl to play mario party if there isnt full online.
@Ardisan you wouldn’t want to play full games online... it would take FOREVER. And losers will always disconnect.
The online now is really good and always people playing. New games and modes though would be appreciated.
Only issue with the online now is that there’s only a few games that are used...
As some have said, this is evidently a way to sell Mario Party. But they could have done way better. That price is just too high.
@Kimyonaakuma Exactly, Super Mario Party isn't a bad game, it is just incomplete. They tried to pad it out with the little side "carnival" games, but the meat of the actual boards is just lacking. It needed at minimum two more boards to feel anywhere near complete, given the size of them. It's really disappointing that this game got no post-launch support.
I don't get the Super Mario Party hate personally, esp since I've played it more than Smash and I didn't bother getting Mario Kart 8D.
Where the game falls short is there isn't toooo much content. A game of this nature just screams (Free?) DLC/updates to add more boards, minigames, etc. and Nintendo just left it to dry.
It's a shame how much of a bad rep MP has nowadays but it really is Nintendo's own fault when they refuse to treat it like it deserves care.
All-time lows they've been $40 (MK) and $30 (MP) each. Seeing as how you can currently buy both of these new from Walmart for $50, the only savings is the $10 GC. If they had made this a limited holiday edition for $75, it would have made more sense, but at $100 for one great game and one fairly meh game, it's just not worth it.
@JR150 You clearly don't know anything you're talking about. Super Mario Party has sold over 10 million without any of that.
This would have been incredible and a guaranteed day one buy/import if they put both games on a single cartridge. Both games (and current updates) could have easily fit on a single 16GB cartridge with plenty of room to spare.
Hell, I'm still tempted to spring for this if it comes to Australia as it will likely have the most up to date builds of the games on the cartridges (and pray that there are no further updates in the horizon).
I'm just waiting for Mario Kart 9. Or a Mario Party with enough content to warrant a purchase.
@Nemesis666
I know that. The joke is that the game doesn't have much content and people are tired of it already.
@Dahn_
Yeah I clicked expecting to see it for $59.99. Oh well it is a savings for those who don't have these yet anyway
@Rohanrocks88 I never said SMP was better than Mario Party 1-5 but I had more fun with it than 9 and 10. My personal favs are 1, 4 and 5. (DS was a decent timepass)
@GilbertXI I played the crap out of this and while I think it’s a pretty average game too, it has sold over 10million...
I guess this little bit of saving by buying the double pack is mostly for new comers. Most of the rest of us will have at least one of these games.
@JR150 super mario party sold 10 million units, but nice try.
@Nemesis666 Yes. Because a whole bunch of people were excited for it at launch. I wouldn't be surprised if it's tapered off significantly since.
It's the only Nintendo game I got that I slightly regret buying. Not terrible at all, just not as exciting as I hoped. But that might be mostly because I've never really gotten the chance to play it.
@Friendly I enjoyed Mario Party 8 on the Wii a heck of a lot more than Super. Granted, I was a lot younger, so I probably gave it the benefit of the doubt a lot more.
Most of the boards were very gimmick-based, which I know some people didn't like, but they all felt really distinct and some were pretty big (and I think there were a couple more of them.) It felt much more chaotic, but with the boards taking longer to loop and the gimmicks, there was still a bit more long-term strategy.
Also, I had a lot more fun with the single-player, which even had a whole campaign. And the standard multiplayer was fun enough with two players that I played it more than... once.
@CoastersPaul You don't know what you're talking about. Those 10 million didn't came in launch. In the first two months it sold 6 million, since 2018 it has sold more 4 million.
Right now, on amazon, new super mario bros. U deluxe and super mario kart 8 deluxe, $89.99. Fcuk this deal.
I feel that a bundle like this should have a savings of up to $20. The only convenience is that they are in one place.
@Nemesis666 I never said that all of the 10 million were all at launch! I just figured a lot of them came earlier on, which you've confirmed. (And that's pretty typical for games anyway!)
It was pretty hyped up, disappointed some people, and probably won't end up quite as evergreen as Mariokart. Sequels might not do as well because of that. But, yeah, on its own it was pretty successful, there's no denying that.
This is great, now if only they did a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 bundle so we get the original and the Golden Country together that would be sweet.
@WoomyNNYes They are on separate cases and cartridges just like the Pokemon Sword and Shield bundle but are both inside a cardboard package.
@ALinkttPresent @Retro_Player_77 Two game cards is good. Thanks!
@ShaiHulud
An Expansion Pack would be enough
