Remember back when Nintendo lifted the lid on the Game Boy Advance all those years ago? It showed the system in two colourways which were never officially released, both of which had silver bodies.
These 'prototype' models are something of a collector's item, and it turns out one of them has been sold via a Yahoo Auctions Japan in a job lot of handhelds. You can see the actual system itself in the video above, and it has some notable differences when compared to the retail version of the console.

For starters, the boot-up sequence has different audio, while the L and R triggers lack the 'lip' that is found on the final model. Furthermore, there are slight differences in the PCB layout and the screen displays problems when running titles that were released well into the GBA's lifespan.
If you've come across a similar GBA console, then you could be sitting on a pretty rare collectable.

Ohhhh man I love that coloring.
One of the best YouTube channels around if you're interested in prototypes and early builds of things. Highly rec checking out their other videos when you have time.
I do like the style of it, that's very nice.
He forgot to test if the prototype model could also play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.
Coloring looks very good, orange vanilla is very pleasing to the eyes.
I just got one with the new IPS screens on eBay and I absolutely love it
I remember thinking how ugly these were when they showed them off at space world 2000.
Game Boy Advance: David Dickinson Edition.
@bryce951 **** yes brother you bring up a good ****ing point why the **** are any of us even on this website I mean for ****s sake what's the point of even living at this point I don't want to enjoy anything, God is dead, long live the rats that will feed off of the nutrients from my corpse long after I've gone.
@bryce951 having a bad day? Is your life not full of joy anymore? Seems a bit negative for someone who obviously likes that "plastic crap" and is on a website dedicated to it.
I don’t care, really.
@Julien Lol I get the orange, but the silver?
I fondly remember the August 2000 Space World. I woke up at around 3 or 4 in the morning to see the updates on Nintendo's site and it was totally worth it as it was not everyday Nintendo unvealed a new console and a new Game Boy on the same day. I remember this GBA color as if it was yesterday. Just wish we had got Yoshi's Story on the GBA: the first game shown but never released (probably changed to Topsy Turvy during development).
I’ve modded a fair few GBAs purely out of love for the system, it has some of the best games and the console design is just beautiful, especially that colour way
Would like to add to the chorus of "love" for the GBA system. One of my favs.
@bahooney what did he say?
@Zenszulu What happened?
@Lanmanna It's a secret to everyone
