@Spiders The answer is easy: In the reviewers opinion (very important - it's just his opinion!) the American Truck Simulator as a whole is a little bit better than Far Cry Primal.
The score system I mentioned above would help to point out, what's good and what's bad about these games. 6/10 or 7/10 - the Nintendolife system - is a bit too imprecise. Maybe the Truck Simulator would get 72% and Far Cry 68%. This would mean that they are nearly of equal quality. While 6/10 sounds quite worse than 7/10.
Nonetheless, if my budget is limited and I would be interested in both games, I would still read the text of both reviews and decide then, which to buy. For me, text and score is important.
I really don't know why so many people don't want a scoring system anymore. I mean, what's the point? If you just want to read the text, then do it! I love to compare the games with each other and therefor a scoring system is absolutely necessary.
Reviews DO need a final score. For me it's important not only to read about the pro's and con's of a game but to have a score, also. How else can you make a list containing the best 10 games of 2016, for example. There are so many games out there, they have to be graded. I even think the x out of 10 system isn't sufficient. The graduation has to be more subtle.
For me, the system from wiig.de is the perfect one. They measure in percent, based on the following points (half steps possible). An example:
Graphics: 7.5 out of 10 -> 7.5 x 1,25 = 9,375 Sound: 8.5 out of 10 -> 8.5 x 1,25 = 10,625 Controls: 9.0 out of 10 -> 9.0 x 2,5 = 22,5 Fun: 8.0 out of 10 -> 8.0 x 5,0 = 40,0
Result: 82,5 = 83%
There you have it. A precise score which make the games comparable. And as you can see, graphics and sound is important, but more important are the controls and fun is the most important point. For me, thats the perfect system. Even if a game doesn't have high-end graphics, if it's fun, it won't get a really bad score. If all categories are high-class, the result will show it, also.
For me it's the disc version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition, along with Star Fox Zero/Guard - my first Star Fox game. And I think it's gonna be great!
I also voted for Book of Unwritten Tales 2, though it's been a while since I played a game like this the last time. What I don't understand is why they don't include the first game of the series. That would be a great package and I haven't played both of them yet. Feels a little strange to start with the second one.
I think two things are neccessary to make Miitomo and My Nintendo a huge success: They need to include an option to add friends by email or somethinh. And they need to reward buys of physical copies of the games. What I've seen so far, both systems are really good. Now go a step further, Nintendo, and I'm totally satisfied.
Day 1 buy for me, also. I can't wait for this game to be released. Kudos to the developers for bringing it on a disc and supporting two player mode via Gamepad and TV - THAT is exactly what would have made Minecraft: Wii U Edition the most awesome console version.
@Cypronia Thanks a lot for your answer! We will try it out as soon as the update arrives here, that's for sure. I appreciate your work and it's good to see that you fight to improve your game.
Do you work on another update that maybe supports local coop in the regular survival mode? That would be awesome.
The long awaited update is still not available in Germany or maybe Europe. But now I have to read here that it doesn't bring local co-op for survival mode with it. Are you serious? That's the main part of the game. All I wanted was to play it together with my wife. Now I'm disappointed. And glad I bought Minecraft last week.
Ahm... what is that? I can hardly read the numbers in the item bar on the top of the Wii U screen! It's way too small. I hope they fix that before Terraria gets a release on Wii U.
30 € is NOT too much. It's a fair price. You can't compare it to the PC version because Nintendo wants to make a little profit, also. You also get some DLC with the game.
So don't complain. Buy it because it's still a great game. Be thankful for getting this milestone of gaming history on Wii U. We all know it could be a better port. It could even be the definitve console version. But take it for what it is. You'll have a great time with it. At least I know I will.
Do you know what I believe now? NX will be a cooperation project between Nintendo (N) and Microsoft (X like Xbox). Recently there's so much love going on between these two. I mean, Minecraft is coming to Wii U. That Xbox guy says he'd love to see Nintendo games come to Xbox. Now Rare Replay could be a possibility for Wii U. Something seems to be going on, folks.
The best wrestling games were on N64. A few weeks ago I played some matches in No Mercy and it was pure fun. The gameplay was so well done. Man, it's a shame that there is no good wrestling game on the Wii U. And I'm not talking about the WWE games.
I read on ntower.de that it will even support USB-mouse. That would be great because it's much more precise. But let's wait and see - and read some reviews which will come soon, hopefully.
By the way: Will Nintendolife bring a Terraria (3DS) review today?
Great news! I guess nobody doubted the support of the Pro Controller (well, neither did anybody regarding inventory management via touchscreen) but it's good to know you can communicate ingame while playing online.
I have mixed feelings now. Of course I was hoping for that feature and even more for dual screen gameplay for two players.
But... it's the same old story. If everyone says now that they won't buy it that's a bad signal to third party developers and Mojang especially. If it doesn't sell well everyone over there will think "We should've known it. Why did we put so much work in it?"
Are you kidding me? Literally everyone would have expected that this would be a key feature of the Wii U version. Oh man, what a letdown. And I think we don't need to hope for dual screen gameplay either, with one player using the Gamepad and one using the TV while playing with a Pro Controller.
Terraria and Cube Life could benefit from that. Which is a good thing.
I like that "Build your own bundle" thing! Too bad I don't live in UK.
But people, don't make the same mistake that I did. I bought Disney Infinity 3.0 last Saturday and today I will bring it back to the store. Its really long loading times, clunky controls and freezes are so annoying. Even at the price of 35 Euro, bundled with a Darth Vader figure, it's not worth it.
Thanks for the review. I was looking for one yesterday because I was thinking about getting this game for my daughter. Now I know that it is definitely not worth the full price
@Captain_Gonru I don't know if something like this happened before. But I don't believe that this post was a mistake. I mean, the game is not called "Minecraft Wii U" but "Minecraft Wii U Edition". Like it is a special version, tailor-made for Wii U.
I think it was a pretty goof Direct show. If only Minecraft would have been revealed, what a disappointment. All the time I was hoping for this one huge announcement and the possibility to buy it right after the Direct show. The rest was fine. Star Fox looks better now, Twilight Princess HD might be a must have and some of the 3DS RPG announcements sound great.
I like the changes and appreciate the additional work they put into the game. Of course Star Fox Zero doesn't completely live up to the expectations of todays players. It has a classic gameplay combined with the art style of its predecessors. I never was a fan of the look of Star Fox for SNES. But I think Zero will provide fun gameplay and thats what it's all about, isn't it?
I bought Cube Life for Wii U (still no update available in Europe, which is a shame) and Cube Creator 3D for 3DS a few weeks ago. To be honest I thought there is no way Minecraft will ever come to Wii U, now that it belongs to Microsoft.
If this turns out to be true I'll buy it, it's a no-brainer. Cube Life and Cube Creator are nice but can't compete with the original. Well, Cube Life has a lot of potential, but again, no update available which would bring local co-op. Here's hoping that Minecraft will bring a local co-op feature for two players. I would fall on my knees and thank god for that.
I'll be buying Affordable Space Adventures this week, that's for sure. For months I've been thinking about buying this game which makes great use of the Gamepad. Now with this minimal discount and the upcoming new content, I just can't say "Later" anymore.
I'm also waiting for a review of the 3DS version. There is absolutely no one online which is a shame, especially since some clueless parents will buy it and their kids will be disappointed. Just take a look a Amazon product ratings...
Funny, I just bought ZombiU this week when Amazon Germany threw it out as the bundled version (with a big yellow sticker on the cover, not the box...) for only 3,28 €. Since I thought about a purchase for over a year now, this was a no-brainer. Okay, I needed to pay another 5 € extra because it has a USK 18 rating and Amazon needs to be sure I'm over 18 but even 8,28 € is a great deal, I think.
I think it's a shame that there are bugs and glitches in it. And from what I have read the game itself could also be better at some points. But again, for that price you don't have to think twice. Now I own this launch title and at some day I'll hopefully find the time to play it.
This is the right decision. So many great games will be released until the end of 2015. On 1st of October we have LEGO Dimensions, two weeks later Shovel Knight. Another two weeks later we get Project Zero, then Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash and finally Xenoblade Chronicles X. There would be no time at all to play Star Fox Zero! And so many people are still playing Splatoon or Super Mario Maker.
Bring Star Fox Zero with a bit extra polish in 2016, Nintendo. It's the right decision, in every sense.

This looks great, I'm really looking forward to this! Just bought the game four days ago. It's a challenge, tougher than Minecraft, without reaching its depth. But this update will help a lot! Especially the 2 Player option.
@StitchScout Level Packs will contain 1 figure and two vehicles or gimmicks. And also you get an additional open world level. It's still not cheap, I know.
It will be interesting to see the fight between Lego Dimensions, Skylanders Superchargers and Disney Infinity 3.0. Each of them have their own strengths. Personally I think Superchargers will end this race on 3rd place. It's still Skylanders and you can use all of your figures that you've collected in the past years. But the races are just not enough to compete this year. I mean, Infinity 3.0 comes with an updated Toy Box Mode where you can build your own tracks. For me the question is: Will Lego or Disney claim the number one spot in 2015? Disney has great and well-known characters and the Star Wars license alone will push this game. The farming game inside the main game will also help to generate momentum, I think. But Lego on the other side, as the newcomer, can really make a difference. The Lego games are popular and created a really big fan base in past few years. Now you get this mixed up multi-world game with a great cast like the heroes from Lord of the Rings, DC Comics and Ghostbusters. And don't forget, you can build and rebuild your vehicles and the portal plays a bigger role than in Skylanders or Disney Infinity.
I don't know if I should buy this game. I liked to play Minecraft on PC and would love to spend an hour here and there in such a game on my 3DS. But it "only" got a 7 from Nintendo Life and some other sites, too. It clearly can be more with future updates. But when will they come? And will they come at all?
I say it would have been nice to create local tourneys. Maybe not the knockout formula which would be pretty useless because most of the time you just don't have 8 people in the room who want to play it.
But I would love to have a "Create a championship" mode, similar to the good old wrestling games like WWF No Mercy (N64). A mode where you can create a belt or a trophy or something and fight it out with three friends, for example. The winner is allowed to enter his name and there you go - a history of title winning is created. Next time you can invite your friends to put this title on the line, again. Can the champion still come out as number one or does the title history is getting a new entry?
Oh boy. That's not what I wanted to read. Don't get me wrong. I don't plan to buy this game. But I guess it will be the same with LEGO Dimensions this fall. Framerate problems, probably longer loading times, some freezes and bugs. The quality of the LEGO games became worse the last few years.
At least Nintendo didn't throw the gamepad over board and made one 180 turn after another just like Microsoft is doing. Wii U owners don't have to feel like they were screwed, there's just really no reason for. Maybe we didn't get so many games that used the gamepad features besides off-tv gameplay. But we got so many really, really great games with so much love to details. And that's what I'm thankful for.
It really looks very promising. I'll keep an eye on it.
Didn't know to this day that Shin'en is a german company. I just thought the name Manfred sounds very german and wanted to know more about Shin'en. And you guys also did Art of Balance? I'll sure support your work and buy Art of Balance and maybe FAST Neo. I live near Karlsruhe and appreciate that a german studio delivers high quality games for my beloved Nintendo platforms. Thank you, Manfred!
I hope they learned from their last games and deliver a fully polished product unlike LEGO Marvel Super Heroes with its bugs and freezes. Than I may be considering a buy.
I don't want to say that both games deserve that. But for me, the demo of Puzzle & Dragons was too hard at normal difficulty. When I know that a game will stress me I'm not buying it, bottom line. If it would be easier I would buy it, that's for sure.
And Kirby looks so charming and since Kirby Triple Deluxe I like Kirby games. But focussing on that Touchpad Control is not what I was hoping for. As a normal platformer I would have bought this, too.
@Tsurii897 @Flopsy86 Oh boy, that would be a bad thing. Didn't Nintendo also said that you could use every version of a character? I mean, not related to Yoshis Woolly World but in general. That's what I relied on and so I didn't preorder a yarn Yoshi. I already paid too much money for amiibo and I just don't see why I would need more than one Yoshi, Mario and so on.
I'm also glad that this game seems to be another great one for Wii U.
But I still haven't found a confirmation anywhere that the Super Smash Bros Yoshi amiibo also works with this game. Do I really need the Yarn Yoshi to unlock this double Yoshi mode or can I use the normal Yoshi amiibo for that as well?

Re: Rumour: Details Emerge on Disney Infinity's Canned Future Plans and Cancellation
If the Star Wars related 3.0 couldn't save the series, this weak 4.0 iteration wouldn't could have done that, either.
Anyways, 3.0 was a bugfest with bad controls. Was my first contact with DI and I brought it right back to the shop where I bought it.

I think if they would have done that the price would have been $125 higher.
For a long time I didn't need an external harddrive because Nintendo isn't in this "We need 2 GB day one patches" frenzy yet.

I don't know if I should buy this game. I liked to play Minecraft on PC and would love to spend an hour here and there in such a game on my 3DS. But it "only" got a 7 from Nintendo Life and some other sites, too. It clearly can be more with future updates. But when will they come? And will they come at all?
Re: Guide: How to Get the Most Out of Super Smash Bros. Tourneys
Re: Review: LEGO Jurassic World (Wii U)
Oh boy. That's not what I wanted to read. Don't get me wrong. I don't plan to buy this game. But I guess it will be the same with LEGO Dimensions this fall. Framerate problems, probably longer loading times, some freezes and bugs. The quality of the LEGO games became worse the last few years.
Re: Tablets Stole The Wii U's Thunder, Laments Shigeru Miyamoto
At least Nintendo didn't throw the gamepad over board and made one 180 turn after another just like Microsoft is doing. Wii U owners don't have to feel like they were screwed, there's just really no reason for. Maybe we didn't get so many games that used the gamepad features besides off-tv gameplay. But we got so many really, really great games with so much love to details. And that's what I'm thankful for.
Re: Exclusive: Get Revved Up With the First FAST Racing NEO 60fps Footage
It really looks very promising. I'll keep an eye on it.
Didn't know to this day that Shin'en is a german company. I just thought the name Manfred sounds very german and wanted to know more about Shin'en. And you guys also did Art of Balance? I'll sure support your work and buy Art of Balance and maybe FAST Neo. I live near Karlsruhe and appreciate that a german studio delivers high quality games for my beloved Nintendo platforms. Thank you, Manfred!
Re: LEGO Jurassic World Roars Onto Wii U and 3DS on 12th June
I hope they learned from their last games and deliver a fully polished product unlike LEGO Marvel Super Heroes with its bugs and freezes. Than I may be considering a buy.
Re: Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush Fails to Break Top 20 in UK Charts
I don't want to say that both games deserve that. But for me, the demo of Puzzle & Dragons was too hard at normal difficulty. When I know that a game will stress me I'm not buying it, bottom line. If it would be easier I would buy it, that's for sure.
And Kirby looks so charming and since Kirby Triple Deluxe I like Kirby games. But focussing on that Touchpad Control is not what I was hoping for. As a normal platformer I would have bought this, too.
Re: Preview: Unraveling the Truth in Yoshi's Woolly World
@Tsurii897 @Flopsy86
Oh boy, that would be a bad thing.
Re: Preview: Unraveling the Truth in Yoshi's Woolly World
I'm also glad that this game seems to be another great one for Wii U.
But I still haven't found a confirmation anywhere that the Super Smash Bros Yoshi amiibo also works with this game. Do I really need the Yarn Yoshi to unlock this double Yoshi mode or can I use the normal Yoshi amiibo for that as well?
