It's not long now before the launch of Lego Dimensions, and here we have an exclusive trailer for the Scooby Doo levels, as well as a close look at how this will play on the Wii U.
While it's not right to have favourites, Scooby has to be up there with Back to the Future and Ghostbusters as a fan favourite brand. He's one of 14 franchises included in the game that can be played with just the starter pack.
As you can see in the trailer, the main adventure takes players through 14 levels which suggests there is one for each of the included brands. Additional adventure levels for some brands can be purchased via the Level packs. Access to playable characters and the related open worlds are via the Team and Fun packs.
The Scooby Doo levels have a unique look to them, recreating the classy hand-drawn feel and sounding spot on with excellent voice work. Also, happily there's not a Scrappy Doo in sight.
Locations include iconic haunted houses, abandoned circuses, secret bookcase doors and the like. There's a great moment when Scooby and Shaggy dress up as old women to hide from their pursuer, just as they do in the cartoon.
Other brands are also included in the trailer. Ghostbusters, Ninjago and Superman are up first before a sneak peak at a Gauntlet-inspired level. Other open-world locations also feature like Hill Valley, the Ghostbusters fire station HQ and even Homer Simpson's house.
Add Scooby to Ghostbusters, Back to the Future and Doctor Who and you have the perfect way to use your Wii U to revisit Christmases past. The question is whether it will be this, Disney Infinity 3.0 or Skylanders Superchargers under your tree this year.
Lego Dimensions will release on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on September 27th in US and 29th in UK.

An actual Scooby Snack figure. We live in prosperous times!
I probably will not get into this. It will just cost way too much.
Infinity. I have the first two and can't wait for Star Wars.
If only this wasn't so expensive...which sucks, because I want to have Scooby, Doc Brown and Homer Simpson go up against Daleks, dangit!
As with DI, I would have gotten this if starter packs were not so expensive. So I may only get individual packs like this one.
When I was 5 in 1970 we moved into a new home and bought a brown mutt and named it Scooby after my favorite kids show. This looks a bit too much like the newer version for my taste, but still, it's Scooby-Doo.
I can't imagine not getting this. It won't be day 1, maybe not even this holiday when we have at least 2 versions of Superchargers to buy, but I'll be keeping my eye out for sales. I know Lego is known for high prices and no sales, but w/ the competition they'll be facing it's inevitable. Even amiibo are constantly on sale, even if stores only carry Mario, Peach and Luigi.
I can't see Lego Dimensions being the big thing they are expecting it to be. The market is being overcrowded with toys to life, plus the pricing is just way too expensive - £90 just for the starter pack? Seriously? Then £20 to £30 on top of that for each additional set you need.
I noticed the Simpsons are gonna be split up into individual characters too instead of a single one off collection, so those alone are gonna be really expensive.
I will probably be buying Disney Infinity 3.0 if they have an update version on sale, it is just too good of a deal to pass. However, I haven't purchased a figure since the original purchase. I have the original 3, Lightening McQueen, Elsa, and Toy Story figures. Not a single 2.0 Character and likely none of the 3.0.
from what I understand the level packs only have one level and I think that's pretty cheap. So if I get this I will stick with the $15 and $25 packs.
This game will be a pain in the neck for the people having to review it.
@StitchScout
Level Packs will contain 1 figure and two vehicles or gimmicks. And also you get an additional open world level. It's still not cheap, I know.
It will be interesting to see the fight between Lego Dimensions, Skylanders Superchargers and Disney Infinity 3.0. Each of them have their own strengths. Personally I think Superchargers will end this race on 3rd place. It's still Skylanders and you can use all of your figures that you've collected in the past years. But the races are just not enough to compete this year. I mean, Infinity 3.0 comes with an updated Toy Box Mode where you can build your own tracks. For me the question is: Will Lego or Disney claim the number one spot in 2015? Disney has great and well-known characters and the Star Wars license alone will push this game. The farming game inside the main game will also help to generate momentum, I think. But Lego on the other side, as the newcomer, can really make a difference. The Lego games are popular and created a really big fan base in past few years. Now you get this mixed up multi-world game with a great cast like the heroes from Lord of the Rings, DC Comics and Ghostbusters. And don't forget, you can build and rebuild your vehicles and the portal plays a bigger role than in Skylanders or Disney Infinity.
I need 450 EUR to buy all the Dimensions content I want xD
@FragRed There are a lot of people who don't mind spending tons of money on LEGO stuff and there are lots of LEGO game fanatics due to the abundance of LEGO games.
Very tempting given how much I absolutely loved the Scooby Doo & co cartoon shows growing up.
Bit too much for the starter pack & all though for me given the other games coming out around the same time, but certainly something I'll keep an eye on over the next few months if there's ever a sale or anything.
Certainly makes me wish for another Scooby Doo game after watching that trailer anyway- something similar to the upcoming Adventure Time or Gravity Falls game would be pretty awesome.
So you've got to buy 14 extra packs on top of the starter pack just to play everything in the starter pack?
I just know I gots to get this! It seems like TT wants to make several expansion packs for Dimensions as opposed to billions of individual LEGO games, which I approve of. Excited to hear that there are 14 franchises to go through in the starter pack alone. And Portal! Oh man...that said, £90 for the starter pack alone? Dammit, I'll definitely be going on eBay...
I want Scooby to have his own Lego game. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
HOW DOES SCOOBY BUILD SO FAST WITHOUT THUMBS OR LOOKING AT THE INSTRUCTIONS
@Rafie Yeah! Scooby deserves his own LEGO game.
Also these voices really threw me for a loop. I haven't been keeping up with Scoob and the gang, so I had no idea how they sounded nowadays.
Zoinks! Shaggy's sounding a little rough these days...I miss Casey Kasem all the more now.
