Re: SurveyMonkey Intelligence Breaks Down the Declining Usage of Miitomo

Tiredman

It doesn't really matter what you compare miitomo to because the comparison to the other two games isn't the point of the graphs. We see that miitomo has gone downhill on user interest over the last month and there are many good reasons for that. Miitomo is trying to compete with so many other apps that keep people connected, and miitomo does not do that particular function very well. The drop game is dull as can be and honestly, due to the difficulty, it should be giving tons of freebie tries at it daily because there is little reason to do it other wise. I only mess with it around once a week if I remember, just to snag a few platinum coins. I am not even sure why I bother since I don't care about picross and there is nothing else worthwhile to spend coins on, so my coins will likely expire with nothing to show for them other than a waste of my life earning them.

Re: Editorial: Fire Emblem Fates and Code Name S.T.E.A.M., Two Very Different Intelligent Systems Ventures

Tiredman

I own both the FE collectors edition and STEAM, but I haven't gotten around to playing STEAM yet as I am waiting till I eventually pick up a New 3ds since I have the FE amiibo.

As for FE Fates, I was let down by the games. I was wanting more of Awakening but the games took out much of what I really enjoyed about Awakening. I am fairly certain I am not the only one feeling this way. I won't be picking up the next FE unless it goes more Awakening. I was ok with the 3 game layout, figuring Birthright would be Awakening, Conquest would be classic, and no clue what the other would be. But Birthright was not awakening, and that really annoyed me.

Re: New DLC Maps Are Coming To Fire Emblem Fates Next Month

Tiredman

If all the maps were $.49 I would snag them. I don't see the point of paying as much as they are asking for a single map. They already have the engine built, and they have been using layouts of stages from previous games. I don't like rewarding people who are just milking us at those prices. Give me a $10 expansion pack.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of My Nintendo and Miitomo?

Tiredman

Honestly, this new system doesn't make me feel like being loyal to nintendo. Club Nintendo had me hunting new copies of games down, even when they were full price. Full price, digital only games will not sell to me. If nintendo and the other consoles keep trying to force this digital only future on me, I will abandon them for PC and PC game sales.

Re: Review: Alphadia (3DS eShop)

Tiredman

It figures. I have been trying machine Knight on my phone I just completely lost interest after a certain point. I tried one other of their games didn't last long before I lost interest. As a person who grew up on old school games on the Super Nintendo none of their games actually have the same soul as the old games. I can't in good conscience pay what they ask for these games on Console because they are just not worth it to me and if I can't finish their games on mobile I don't see console being any better.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Becomes Fastest Selling Release in Franchise History in the US

Tiredman

To be honest, I am enjoying the game right now. Close to chapter 20, and working on children right now.

Other than that, I actually enjoyed Awakening a great deal more. I don't really feel invested in most of the characters in Fates, at least no where near as much as I did in Awakening. I miss an actual map to traverse. Also the story is rather weak at this point as well.

So other than lack of a traversable map, weaker character development, and weaker story, everything else is leagues better than Awakening. I like the new optional fight way of doing things, the My Castle, forging, the works.

Re: Nintendo Removes Infamous Drugging Scene From Western Localisation Of Fire Emblem Fates

Tiredman

@BrizzoUK We likely would of gotten it uncensored in the US if it wasn't for the major issues going on with the LGBT community now a days. It is still a huge fight for those folks to even get married as tons of Republican governors in power are looking for all kinds of ways to block LGBT folks rights, even going against the Supreme Courts decisions. If this game had come out 5 years ago, I doubt it would of been censored.

Plus, I doubt Japan is going to change how they do things just because of a Western audience, entirely because localization is a thing.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X Creator Tetsuya Takahashi Prefers Western Games To Japanese Ones

Tiredman

I find it interesting how he likes western stuff while many of us westerners like the japanese style rpg's. I don't like XCX as much as I liked XC. If XC had XCX's quest system, the game would completely blow away XCX in my personal opinion. I don't like silent protagonists, and I don't like open worlds when they use silent protagonists as you end up getting an Elder Scrolls type game. While I do enjoy an Elder Scrolls game occasionally, I prefer my rpg's to be like living a book, not creating a book.

Re: Xenoblade X Developers Talk About the Game's Complexity and Why The "Xeno" Appears in the Name

Tiredman

@Christoff It will be complex, but if you have screwed around with complex games in other genres, one would assume you would be fine. If you want to play a jrpg before X gets released and don't mind old, snag Golden Sun in the gameboy advance games on wii u. It isn't the same kind of rpg as X but it does have a number of mechanics that you can play around with besides just run around, kill stuff, level up, repeat.

Re: Rumour: A Class in Bravely Second is Supposedly Being Censored for the Western Release

Tiredman

@DreamOn I thoroughly disagree. If everybody takes offense at everything, then anger flares all around because nobody can see eye to eye. To be part of a big world means you have to realize that people will post things about you, try to mimic you, or any numbers of other things. Instead of whining about it, native Americans should be embracing that and helping non native Americans learn about the native American culture. Instead they are just making everybody dislike them.

Re: Review: Lucentek - Activate (Wii U eShop)

Tiredman

Man that game looks horrid. Makes me think of this beginner program to help folks learn to program called Alice. Alice is barebone, but useful, and the graphics in this game and the canned animations make me think of Alice on so many levels.

Re: Review: Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II (Wii U eShop / NES)

Tiredman

Whats interesting about this review is how it points out this game checks all the checkboxes. I am fairly confident this game invented or at the least had no template with which to check, and the review's point of view is based on comparing this game to the other games that have come out in the last 20 years. Just my 2 cents. I played both of the Star Tropics back in the times they came out, and I enjoyed both.

Re: The Legend of Legacy Isn't Too Far Away From a Release in Europe

Tiredman

This is a good game, but it is one you really want to play in increments instead of non stop. I am taking a break from it right now to play Devil Survivor 2, and I take LoL with me sometimes when I go out as I can do some stat and skill grinding on a map during short down times. Yeah, the lack of a story is rather bad and they could of done a lot more to give it even a minor story, but the game itself isn't horrible.

To be honest though, I would recommend folks wait for it to go on sale as it doesn't really feel like a full priced game. It isn't fleshed out enough because, other than animations, all the characters are basically the same thing, the main difference being each character has different affinities to weapons and magic that affect how fast they learn skills with particular types.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

Tiredman

@ottospooky Agree with you whole heartedly. Own over 300 physical games and going and am a huge fan of limited and collectors editions. I prefer my games for display and the fact that I may want to play them when companies shut down. If Sony were to shut down today, a whole lot of people would be mad when they learn that if anything happens to the games on their HDD, they are gone for good, and all the games they didn't have room to download are gone for good as well.

It also makes me feel good to go to a game store and see a copy of a game I own going for $100+.

Re: Review: Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (Wii U)

Tiredman

@fluggy Niche products do that. Unless you are into this type of game, then you won't "get" this game and it will be a hard sell to most reviewers. Happens with many games. For folks who love the series, this will probably end up being an 8 or 9.

Re: Video: Here's Some More Footage of The Legend of Legacy

Tiredman

To me this game is a lot like Etrian Odyssey, minus the character customizing. It also has it's own version of FOE's, as in enemies that won't chase you, and usually look like a shadow that you can easily avoid, but if you hit it, you get into a mid boss fight. What is nice though, is almost all fights allow you to run, which always works.

The problem with the game is it takes way too much grinding, and while some characters seem to jump in levels on certain things like hp, some don't. My Eloise is my weakest character because my hp level ups are few and far between where as my other two characters are a min of 30 hp, to a max of 80 hp difference compared to Eloise. She dies too fast on some fights before I can get a water shield out. The manual is also lackluster, as I don't really understand the point of getting 5 skills that all cost nothing to use. It doesn't mention if I have to level up some to get other skills, or any number of other things....or I didn't notice it, one or the other. And of course, as usual, the game has no physical manual.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Legends Site Shows Off Skull Kid and Phantom Ganon

Tiredman

@ItalianBaptist I didn't have a Vita for the same reason tons of other folks didn't, the Sony tax and their idea of memory. If you are a big time gamer, the Vita required around $320 to $350 just to buy the thing plus one game. Nobody wants to pay the price of a console for a handheld. And since no prices have gone down, there is still no overwhelming desire to get it.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Legends Site Shows Off Skull Kid and Phantom Ganon

Tiredman

@rjejr You said it yourself, the wii sold over 100 million. Nintendo gets lucky, then unlucky, but by far their biggest problem is power. If they fixed that problem, third parties would love them, and they would be competitive in their own market as the pure gaming console, not the all in one box xbone and ps4 want to be.

Got a taste of tv connected hand helds with the PSP, and while I love the option to do so as many of the games look ok, it still comes back to power, power, and more power. Handhelds just don't do the depth of console games, and to make a handheld as powerful as a console would put an extremely hot item in your hand after 30 minutes.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Legends Site Shows Off Skull Kid and Phantom Ganon

Tiredman

@rjejr Because, games in general lose a lot of what makes them great by going handheld if they were originally a console title. From what has been said, Hyrule Warriors will lose a lot of the scenery, including soldier numbers, by going handheld, plus most games, even Dragon Quest 8, lose a lot of their vibrant colors. Many people who make handheld games also cut back on many things that are staples on console. I don't mind handheld games, but consoles are where its at for me because you just don't get the same immersion on a handheld that you do on a console.

My go to example is always Shin Megami Tensei 4 versus Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne. SMT 4 does not hold a candle on ambiance and immersion like Nocturne does because so much is missing from the handheld game, especially deep sound effect, and a post apocalyptic world that actually looks like one. The world in SMT 4 is neat and all, but at such a small size it is very hard to really get into the world as a backdrop, and to me it was just a few roads you follow to get wherever. In SMT 3, the world was dangerous, and you had to maneuver your way around it in all it's glory.

Re: First Impressions: Taking A Shot At Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water

Tiredman

I would of tried it if there was a physical disc, but since I am in the US, the only way I would try it is if it hit $20 or less digitally. Making it digital only here is a death sentence for the game because people will not spend the price they will likely ask for the game on a digital only title. They will be lucky to get 15% of the sales they would of had if they had done physical and digital.
