Re: Talking Point: With E3 Long Gone, Nintendo Still Has Plenty to Reveal 'Directly' to Fans

ThreadShadow

Yes, we need Directs to reveal Kid Icarus Wii U, F-Zero U-turn, Star Tropics 3, Pilot Wings Wii U, Metroid Wii U, and the next 3rd-party Zelda collaboration! Retro Studios, Next Level, Nintendo's collaborations/partnerships/acquisitions. A couple more new IPs. Some great 3DS announcements too. Not to forget the other previously multiplat third-party games Nintendo's fished out of the garbage.
I wonder what they could be. I know I'll be disappointed but I'd like to know. I wonder if it's Darksiders 3, Shenmue 3, 1666, or some other THQ leftover. What if it's Capcoms E.X. Troopers on 3DS?

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto States There Are "A Few" Zelda Titles In Development, Aiming To Evolve The Series

ThreadShadow

"a few Zelda titles in development" that sounds wonderful to me! I'd love to see Nintendo take this Hyrule Warriors thing further and develop a Hyrule sub series of LoZ games in co-operation with other third-parties. I'd like to see other third-parties get a chance- under the close supervision of Nintendo- to create 3D and 2D Zelda games.

Did anyone else catch this sentence from Miyamoto? "This term means that there is a large world in which players can do numerous things daily.". Numerous things daily? That sounds interesting. Daily challenges like in a Halo game, maybe?

Re: Princess Daisy Costume Confirmed For Bayonetta

ThreadShadow

@sinalefa I wouldn't exclude that as another source of inspiration for the design.

@Retro_on_theGo I'll see if I can dig up the story. If it was in a magazine I doubt I'll ever find it, though. I believe it was an interview with the actual concept artist not Kamiya himself.

Re: Capcom Could Be Up For Sale After Shareholders Reject Anti-Takeover Plan

ThreadShadow

Having Nintendo buy Capcom or what ever sounds nice on paper, but when you dive into the logistics of it, it seems insurmountable in it's unsatisfactory resolution of IP management. Being a third-party Capcom has new and old games littered around the console landscape, and with a buy out these to some extent become Nintendo's problem. It all boils down to a big third-party head ache. Does Nintendo delist all Capcom games from digital stores? Does Nintendo leave them up to continue revenue on opponents consoles?

Capcom wants to make money and I feel they won't accept an exclusive buy out, they will choose a buy out option that allows them to remain third-party.

Re: Feature: A Cross-Platform Look At E3 2014

ThreadShadow

Nintendo won the show but here's what caught my attention.
MS:
Halo 5
Halo MC Collection
Fable Legends
Project Spark
Ori and the Blind Forest
Below (hope this is multiplat eventually)

Sony:
Defense Grid 2
Little Big Planet 3
Abzu
No Mans Sky
Uncharted 4
Gunship X (Vita)

Multiplatform:
Batman Arkham Knight (incredible.)
Inside (from creator of Limbo)
Mirror's Edge 2
Lara Croft Temple of Osiris (Guardian was great, looking forward to this one.)
Evolve =interesting concept but will never get it.
Rise of the Tomb Raider Rises: Rise (uhg..Idk, I miss old TR Legend series.)
Destiny (it's hard not to be attracted to it, but the online turns me off.)
MGS V PP (so dark and grisly though, idk.)
Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time (awesome!), Cup Head, Bro Force (Idk, maybe.), Counter Spy (Idk, maybe.),Tengami, Cubemen 2, Nihilumbra (maybe.),Teslagrad, Two Brothers (maybe.), Wooden Sen Sey, A.N.N.E., Earthlock, Chariot, Affordable Space, Shovel Knight, Stealth inc. 2, Shantae games. Some other indies I can't recall right now.

Nintendo:
Pushmo World
Smash Bros Wii U
Yoshi's Wooly World
Capt. Toad
Legend of Zelda Wii U
Hyrule Warriors
Xenoblade Chronicles X (story will blow probably, imo.)
Mario Maker
Splatoon (maybe, if there is offline as well as online.)
Mario V DK
Star Fox and Projects
(2D and 3D Metroid were mentioned favorably so that's nice.)
Codename STEAM
Theatrhythm Curtain Call
FF Explorers

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3?

ThreadShadow

They previously talked about new partnerships and acquisitions. I would have liked to hear something about that.
Zelda Wii U, Capt. Toad, Mario Maker, Hyrule Warriors, Yoshi, Projects, New IPs, Star Fox, and promises of new 2D and 3D Metroids were wonderful.
Would really like to know what Retro and other 2nd party developers are working on. Also a teaser from Sakaguchi would be cool.

Re: Poll: Your Favourite Showing from Nintendo During E3 Day One

ThreadShadow

My favorite showing? How 'bout when Nintendo said, and I quote, "Dear Microsoft, Sony, EA, and Ubisoft. Your asses have been thoroughly kicked. Nintendo has won E3 2014. Please understand."

Zelda 2015, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Maker, Capt. Toad, various indies, Yoshi's Wooly World, and Star Fox announcement were all the stars of the show for me. It just needed two more announcements to really hit it out of the ball park for me. Something Metroid and something Retro Studios and/or another new IP would have been extra sweet.
Does anyone know if the multi-player pacmans are included in the new Pac Man Collection announced?

Re: Review: Double Dragon II: The Revenge (3DS eShop / NES)

ThreadShadow

One of the best Double Dragons ever made. Every Double Dragon was made better when it arrived on the NES, yes even the first one, lack of two-players aside.

I'm not sure I agree with the idea of retro reviews any more. Reviewing it in it's day is one thing, but 20-30 years later after so much water has passed under the bridge...could be unfair and/or biased. I don't know...just thinking out loud here.

Re: Mario Kart Month: Expanding the Universe of Mario Kart

ThreadShadow

Mario Kart should always remain Mario exclusive. I whole-heartedly support the idea of a 'Nintendo Land Racing' game though. It should be a celebration of everything Nintendo just like Smash Bros, and just like Sonic Allstars Racing is a great celebration of everything Sega.

Calling it 'Nintendo Land Racing' would allow for all the different characters and would align it nicely with Nintendo Land, creating a Nintendo Land franchise/series that allows for mass cross overs etc.of Nintendo properties.

Re: Weirdness: PeterMolydeux Is Back With The Strangely Moving Nintendo: A Sad Story Part Two

ThreadShadow

I'd say that's an unfair characterization of Iwata. In reality Miyamoto has made Link open more chests then he has. The hand-holding signs were enough. And I believe there is a person named Eiji Aonuma involved in the series somewhere.
In essence it could be argued that the "same old" Zelda gameplay fits right in with Halo's 30 seconds of play idea.
I don't quite get the ending. Link needs to be revived by Miyamoto? It was Miyamoto who put him on that path in the first place. It's a bit more ugly then poignant.

Re: Month Of Kirby: Kirby's Lost Levels

ThreadShadow

I absolutely want sequels to Kirby's Dreamcourse (SNES). I can think of names too. Kirby's Dreamcourse 64 (N64), and Kirby's Dreamcourse 3 -Cubed (Gamecube). Too bad they don't exist.
As for ones mentioned here. The last one pictured-"a more traditional Kirby platformer that would feature animated, storybook-like visuals and enhanced copy abilities..." It looks really great and I would buy it even though I'm not that into traditional Kirby games, or most Kirby games for that matter.
Nice article! Would like to see more articles on "lost" games.
