Re: Club Nintendo's Gold and Platinum Prizes Have Emerged

ThreadShadow

Oh, no...I was hoping they'd offer Platinums a free copy of Xenoblade Chronicles. I don't know what I'm going to choose. Not the posters, and I don't think the calender, Metroid II is the only game I don't own already...I'll probably choose the cards on principal since they are a platinum reward. hhmmm, Platinums should get to choose one plat gift, and one gold gift.

Re: Mighty Switch Force! HD Heading to Wii U eShop

ThreadShadow

I'm going to get this downloadable game.

I want WayForward to team with Nintendo and make new high quality downloadable 2D games for Wii U eShop, based on Nintendo IP. Imagine arcade Donkey Kong mixed with Mighty Flip Champs mechanics etc..

Nintendo IP presented with great new gameplay, and creative mechanics all wrapped lovingly in an 8bit/16bit blanket of happy.

Re: E.X. Troopers May Feature Co-op Multiplayer on 3DS

ThreadShadow

@Savino #9, you hit the nail right on the head.

As I posted before on this game: "Overall I'm not happy with this.

Let me guess, you'll play a generic looking anime hero(with pink hair), and his school chums will be a beautiful girl who is unsure of herself and always clutches her textbooks close to herself, and a senior who wears glasses, and he's always pushing them back up on his nose? The hero will learn to believe in himself and his wacky group of friends while they continually give eachother single-solemn-head-nods?

I like Lost Planet, especially when it's in the snow, and fighting akrid, I don't care much for fighting snow pirates. The premise of this new game sounds a bit silly, but we'll see.

From the trailer it looks like you'll never be piloting a "VS" in ground combat. The trailer focuses on infantry combat and a glimpse of some suspect Voltron-like space fight.

Lost Planet is not Voltron, is not Gundam, is not Evangelion, is not Zone of the Enders.

This must be Capcoms way of getting revenge on Lost Planet creator Keiji Inafune for all the things he's said about Capcom and the Japanese gaming industry as a whole."

Even how it's assumed they are using the Megaman Legends 3 engine-further rubbing it in.

In this game they've taken the fun of Lost Planet and cut out half of it. Lost Planet features fun "on-foot" combat, but a big part of the fun is finding VS suits and piloting them around. This game looks to take that away by making VS suits just that, tiny suits and pieces of armour or a jetpack the character wears on or under their clothes. (Of course there's some voltron/evangelion-like stuff going on in the cut-scenes featuring a more substantial suit, but at this time I don't think we should asume this will be the full Lost Planet experience, only half, and that half has been seriously messed over with the "silly anime trope stick".

Re: Review: Double Dragon II: The Revenge (Wii Virtual Console / NES)

ThreadShadow

Good old Double Dragon II-talk about Nintendo Club improving the quality of a game-though I can't say for sure how much influence they had on Double Dragon II, it just power-knees the arcade version-a fun game in it's own rite.

Now I hope someone releases the Turbo DUO (TG16 CD) version of Double Dragon II on VC. That version is said to be based on the NES and Arcade and is very good, in the same league as the NES version I hear.

About Double Dragon III NES version, there is only one problem with that game, and that is the lack of extra lives (should have been an option to have more), that is what hikes up the challenge level. Fun, game, very hard. I still can't believe I won it. It is hands down, no contest, THE best version of Double Dragon 3. I've played the GB version, and the Sega Genesis version which is close to the arcade version, and they just don't compare.

It's amazing how most of the time, NES versions of arcade games were higher quality then their source material. NOW YOU'RE PLAYING WITH POWER!!!

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Turns 21 Today

ThreadShadow

I'm sorry, don't really want to rain on this parade, but every time I try out a Sonic game, new or old, I just can't believe this was Mario's biggest contender! It boggles my mind. Sonic may be one of Sega's best "platformers", but it can't hold a candle to Mario. The depth, the gameplay, it's just not there.

It's fun to go through the loop-de-loops though!

Re: Bigger Nintendo 3DS Console Revealed

ThreadShadow

Yay! This looks good enough to buy! I don't have a 3DS yet, and I ws waiting for either an XL or redesign to be announced before getting one. I guess I get this nice looking 3DS XL, but I want a nice white one like the white regular 3DS in Japan. If nothing happens I might settle for the red one. My first DS was red and black like that...awe...the memories!

I expect the full redesign to be announced at next years E3...but maybe they just might forget the redesign and jump straight to the next generation handheld...I wonder...

Re: Zelda Remakes Still Part of Nintendo's Quest

ThreadShadow

I'd really like to see OoT 3D released for Wii U eShop without fancy 3D, but having traditional controls, aswell as using the Gamepad for 3DS type controls. This would go for any remake they release on 3DS, please bring it to Wii U on eShop too.I prefer most games on a home console.

Re: E3 2012: Our View of Nintendo's E3

ThreadShadow

They must have pulled a game that would have been shown after NintendoLand. The ending of the conference just felt weird.

You know what third-party games would have been as good to show as a Nintendo or Retro Studios reveal? Here are a handful.

Shenmue 3
Beyond Good & Evil 2
Half-Life 2 Episode 3
FF Versus XIII
Better yet, something from Hironobu Sakaguchi.
Maybe a Bungie or Respawn tease.
Skies of Arcadia 2
Or hey, how about LostWinds 3?
Or a showcase of indie delights?

Re: Reggie: Retro's Hard at Work, Won't Say More

ThreadShadow

@koolbob1872

Yes, they would if it was Retro Studios. Miyamoto has given them the big thumbs up for quality. But as it stands right now, I doubt Zelda is their next game. It will be a StarFox and or Metroid game before we see their Zelda.

I just hope we get to see a little healthy competition. Miyamoto/Retro Studios Zelda HD against Eiji Aonuma/Nintendos Zelda HD. Not released at the same time, but both being WiiU releases of course.

Re: Poll: Which 3DS Game at E3 Got You Most Excited?

ThreadShadow

I think it should have brought the two styles together and been Paper Mario & Luigi Sticker Star.

Though in the end the combat looked a little tiresome.

Nothing really got me excited. I need a side-scrolling Mario that looks very different. I'm talking a Yoshi's Island shift in graphical styles. Looks fun, but didn't get me excited.

Re: E3 2012: Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge Published by Nintendo

ThreadShadow

@retro_player_22

Thanks, but imo, Itagaki isn't relevant either, and his Ninja Gaiden games weren't very good. His games are mass amounts of missed opportunities.

I can see your point about Nintendo publishing what's popular. And it's a shame they are rushing to publish a very grotesque game.

I don't want to hurt your feelings, but the Fatal Frame series...well...garbage games are garbage.

Nintendo, release thyself from the withering corpse that is Tecmo-Koei!

Re: Talking Point: Reviewing Nintendo's E3 Press Conference

ThreadShadow

Nintendo has won 2012's E3, but their presentation did faulter...it faultered when it ended after NintendoLand...they needed to show 2-3 more games (third-party) building up the audience again, then bam! MEGATON finish with a teaser or reveal of another first-party game...that can only be done by a handful of Nintendo IP, so it would have had to have been something like StarFox, Metroid, 3D Mario, Zelda, Retro Studios, maybe F-Zero, or else a new IP/Miyamoto IP. Finishing with a better bang then NintendoLands, albeit fun, fireworks.

A third-party reveal could have worked too, like a new FF Crystal Chronicles or even FF Versus 13 as a show stopper. Better yet, a new Hironobu Sakaguchi Mistwalker title. Or perhaps showing that Bungie and ReSpawn's new IPs will appear on WiiU too. Beyond Good & Evil 2 reveal would have done it.

Anyway, Nintendo won E3. MS was poor, and Sony's was very, very poor. Shoot, stab, swear. Swear, shoot, stab. Swear, swear, dance. BOOOrring!!!
