Re: Review: Jet Force Gemini (Nintendo 64)

ThreadShadow

I saw this game as how a Metroid 64 might have worked. Fun game and challenging. One problem is it wouldn't save all the collectables you had found, so when you went back into a level you had to rescue all the little creatures again. That's frustrating.

Re: Former Nintendo Marketing Specialist Sheds Light on Smash Bros. as a "Dangerous" Brand at EVO

ThreadShadow

I'm sorry that's just silly. Brand protection? It's their own series of games!! If they are that scared of it, why continue making the series? Silly!

The violence in Smash isn't MK level, it's not even Street Fighter level. When the first came out they had that great TV ad with the mascots fighting it was great! Why weren't they scared of "brand protection" then?

Oh well.

Re: Miyamoto: Mario Will Likely Return To Single-Player

ThreadShadow

Mario needs the "epic". I'm absolutely sure Mario 3D World will be fun and high quality, but it doesn't follow Galaxy properly. We need epic with amazingly imaginative GamePad use.

I'd like to see the return of a highly tuned 2D animated 2-player ALTERNATING Mario game. A return to the gameplay of Bros 1,3, World, where the gameplay is so great that it can accommodate a skillful player doing a 1 life speed run, and the back and forth of good old "wait your turn!" Alternating gameplay.

Good times!

Re: Retro Studios: "After Donkey Kong Country Returns We Had A Lot Of Gas Left In The Tank"

ThreadShadow

Mmmmm, Tropical Freeze is my favorite Kool-Aid flavour! Oh Yeah!

Let me just state that the game does look good, and it looks fun. I'll probably buy a copy. Looking forward to Wise's music too. But I'm very underwhelmed.

I'm not one of those people who were particularly looking for a new Metroid from Retro though. They have made three of them, and they do know Metroid better then Nintendo itself, but I wanted something new from them. StarFox, StarTropics, a new IP. I can imagine it gets stuffy feeling you're trapped as a one series developer.

When Retro Studios stated "a project everyone wants us to do", I don't think anyone thought they meant another Donkey Kong game. Makes me wonder who constitutes "everyone" in that statement.

Re: Review: Kirby's Dream Course (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

ThreadShadow

Wonderful game. Would have loved to see Kirby's Dream Course 64 (in 3D graphics but looks the same, and same camera style. 4-players of course and lots of courses!)
And then Kirby's Dream Course Cubed (3D graphics/3D camera style but with really crazy courses like small planets, twisted pathways and gravity, and lots of great M.C. Escher type courses.)

Re: John Leguizamo: We Were Pioneers With The Super Mario Bros. Movie

ThreadShadow

I'm gonna say that, no it wasn't a good movie it was terrible, BUT, that's not to say the actors and whoever else involved didn't have good times making it, or good experiences surrounding it. I won't deny them that. Trouble is none of that is there for the audience, and truly never can be, because the audience wasn't there "making" the movie. I'm sure they had fun while making it, but the end product is still terrible. Cheers!

Re: Microsoft To Announce Sequel To "Historic" Rare Franchise At E3

ThreadShadow

If its PD, they tried that with PD:Zero at 360 launch and no one really cared. They later released PD HD on Arcade and it seems nobody cared about that one either.
Might be Banjo-Kazoo3, or Jetpack "One"? Sabrewulf? Killer Instinct? I don't think there are enough KI fans left for it to be relevant or anything close to a system seller. New people will see the "hokey" characters, combos and blood and just say, "I already own Injustice and MK."
As far as MS is concerned "historic" could refer to Viva Pinata or Kinect Sports!

Re: Cliff Bleszinski Likens The Wii To A "Virus"

ThreadShadow

Well, unfortunately it was a true statement, for casuals and soccer moms. After two months the soccer moms were tired of it, put it in the closet and forgot about it. Why? Because they weren't gamers, they caught the fad and then the fad past. But it wasn't a virus to us or to a handful of others. I mean I went to an old folks home and they had Wii Sports night, and my local Library has a Wii day each week. So it has "stuck around" but on the whole, yes, to the "mainstream" it was a virus and the fad and ended like every other fad.

<< >> ....oh, the rooms empty.

Re: Tales Producer Says The Series Could Eventually Make It To Wii U

ThreadShadow

I guess Nintendo shouldn't bother making games for the Wii U, because they should wait till the Wii U becomes a success, otherwise it's too big a business risk.

Also Namco releases their Tales games for PS3 does a survey and finds out people play Tales games on the PS3. What a discovery!!!

Anyway, I don't care for the Tales series.

@Einherjar Just wanted to give you my support for your post #2. Exactly, right.

In the end I think it doesn't matter what Nintendo does, third-parties will find a way not to support them. They all seem to hate Nintendo for various reasons. Maybe it's Nintendo's quality/work ethic?

Re: The Story of an Abandoned Mega Man FPS, Maverick Hunter, Emerges

ThreadShadow

More of Capcom's vengeance on Inafune. Cancelling any and every game he had anything to do with while he was there.

This game should come to Wii U, and Legends 3 should come to 3DS. I'd especially be up for this game since it was armature.

Hey, maybe Nintendo can buy the prototyping and get Armature to finish it as a new Metroid game!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Should Make EA Co-operation a Priority

ThreadShadow

I disagree with the article. Nintendo doesn't need EA. It's the nature of the Nintendo beast. Nintendo doesn't need anyone to survive, and third-parties need to deal with it.

SquareSoft aggressively ditched Nintendo during the N64 days and Nintendo still survived through N64, to GC, and eventually thrived on Wii. All this while Square was arguably going through a post 16bit golden age.

With Nintendo surviving the loss of a huge Japanese developer I think they can survive and thrive through the loss of "EA".

Re: SEGA Still Committed To Wii U Despite Aliens: Colonial Marines Cancellation

ThreadShadow

Shame about Aliens CM. I'm sure with a little more work and the patch the PC version received the Wii U version could turn out to be the best.

The only things I could possibly imagine wanting from SEGA are...

Shenmue 3
Shenmue HD collection (should include "What's Shenmue?" demo) (eShop)
Skies of Arcadia Legends HD+ (eShop)
Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder (arcade game with no console release. eShop with multiplayer intact.)
Crusader of Centy (eShop)
Valkyria Chronicles 4 for Wii U with local co-op campaign, and competitive mode.
Maybe a new game in the "Feel the Magic" series? That was hilarious stuff.

I'm having trouble thinking of anymore SEGA IP that I'd like to see.

Re: LucasArts Shut Down By Disney

ThreadShadow

Thanks a bunch Disney you foolish corporate entity. I was looking forward to Star Wars 1313.
Lucas should have sold the Monkey Island rites to Double Fine! How are we going to get a console release of Monkey Island 3 now?
