Re: Monolith Soft's 3DS Title Makes an Intriguing Appearance

ThreadShadow

Ouch! I had checked it, but since I haven't played The Last Story yet I assumed the artwork could be for a sequel. And apparently that's what a few other people did, since the artwork was so similar to The Last Story's and naturally by the same artist, assumed it was The Last Story 2, perhaps for Wii U.

Others have chimed in that it's production art of The Last Story, when it was called The Last World-the names been spotted on the art itself. Apparently The Last World was quite different before it turned into The Last Story. It was set in the future. Had lots of snow. So now a couple people are suggesting maybe The Last World has been brought back as a Wii U project. Who knows, maybe, maybe not.
One person commented "...why would Mistwalker take concept art from a scrapped game and put it smack in the middle of their website?" Seems a valid question when title artwork for The Last Story appears separately further down the same page.

Oh well, I'm sure they must have something for Wii U. Looking forward to seeing it.

Re: Monolith Soft's 3DS Title Makes an Intriguing Appearance

@CanisWolfred The top picture featuring the man and wolf. What does it have to do with this? The subject of the Mistwalker artwork, and the subject of this article are basically "Devs that support Nintendo post new mystery artwork somewhere on the web, could a new game be in the works". So, that's what it has to do with this.
And basically NintendoLife could have just as easily posted a story of Mistwalkers new mystery artwork instead of Monoliths. GoNintendo posted both stories.

Re: Warren Spector: "I'm Sad But Excited For The Future"

ThreadShadow

This just in! Warren Spector to work at new studio, formed by mystery company whose name ends with "intendo", starts with "N", on third entry in newly acquired IP series, name ends with "siders", starts with "Dark".

I wonder what it could be!

Anyway, jokes aside. I think Nintendo should offer him a little studio and a 2-3 game exclusivity deal. 1 for 3DS, and 2 for Wii U (retail, eShop). And let him create what ever he wants. See what happens.

Re: Double Dragon Is Brawling Onto The Japanese 3DS eShop Next Week

ThreadShadow

Even though it doesn't support 2-player co-op, it's still the best version of Double Dragon out there (barring the previously named Double Dragon Advance).
There is just way too much challenge, fun, and crazy stuff that happens in this version. It puts the arcade version (which is still fun) to shame.

If someone were to program in 2-player co-op to this version it would be too much fun!

Re: Rumour: Has Junction Point Hit A Dead End?

I think one problem with the games was that there was nothing endearing about Oswald and his girlfriends voices or characterizations. No offense to the voice actors, wasn't their fault. It's just, Oswald should have made us feel that all these years with Mickey, Goofy, and Donald, we've been missing out, because there should have been four good friends all this time instead of three. But to me, Oswald just came off as a useless, redundant unremarkable character that added nothing and could just as easily not have been there. Part of this is as I said before down to the choice of voice style and overall characterizations. His girlfriend was basically a boring clone of Dot the Warner sister.

To tell you the truth though, I'd love to see Nintendo give Warren Spector his own small dev team.

Re: Nintendo Unveils The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD for Wii U

ThreadShadow

Potential SPOILERS!
Yes! Good times. Wind Waker was too short, but it was short and sweet! I'll just say, please, please add a huge sea monster, more islands, and another town island to transport cargo back and forth! More people too!

I think this cinches it, Wind Waker HD coming to Wii U means 3DS is getting the new version of Majora's Mask.

Re: Game Over For THQ As Assets Are Purchased By Rival Publishers

ThreadShadow

Nintendo didn't even have a looksee? I wonder if Reggie did want to take a look, but Nintendo Japan said "No.".
I mean, they could have gone for Vigil. Vigil working under Nintendos strict quality control could potentially put out Retro Studios quality stuff.

What about de Blob?
Actually looking at the list of THQ games on Wikipedia it's kinda hard to pick out anything worth taking really.

Still, Vigil working under Nintendo on various Nintendo projects would be cool.

EDIT: And thinking about it, they could have gone for Patrice Desilets studio.

Re: The Tragic Tale of Bonk: Brink of Extinction Developer Pi Studios

ThreadShadow

Just as much as piracy, poor game sales, and tough markets, big companies messing over small devs is one of the biggest problems in the game biz these days. How many smaller companies have had to shut down because a bigger dev/publisher cancelled the project at the last minute, or refused payment for work? Quite a few if memory serves. It seems like a malicious business practice to curb future competition to me.

Re: Legend of Zelda LEGO Project Falls At The Final Hurdle

ThreadShadow

Sad. I hate how this has become a contest and hate how LEGO has tightened up the rules and the way CUUSOO works. New molds are too expensive? Hello? Your sets already cost an arm and a leg! And you're making new molds for your own sets anyway. Won't fans buying the sets cover the cost of the new molds like it does for every other LEGO set?

Despite all this, it's really not a thing that fans should have to be begging for. This is something Nintendo should have been on the ball about with LEGO years ago. Zelda is the perfect addition to the medieval/fantasy sets. LEGO, instead of wasting your time on stupid harry potthead sets, you could have done Legend of Zelda instead.

storms off ranting and raving

Re: Job Losses Rock LostWinds Developer Frontier

ThreadShadow

How bout a kickstarter for LostWinds 3 on Wii U eShop?

I really don't think that person should disparage anyone from supporting the Elite Kickstarter. If Frontier goes down the kickstarter will end, and anyone who donated will get their money back, simple as that.

Re: Give Your Wii U A Retro Makeover With This NES Skin

ThreadShadow

Wow! These may be the first skins I ever get. I love that NES skin, actually both are pretty good. I wish my 3DS XL had the NES grey scheme too. I just wish this was the way they came from Nintendo themselves. Well, these skins are tempting, but I'm not sure about the permanence.

Re: Sumo Digital: Mario Kart Should Incorporate Other Nintendo Franchises

ThreadShadow

No, no. Mario Kart works because the single Mario "universe" has such a strong line-up of characters. Sorry to hurt any feelings but Sonic doesn't have a strong enough line-up of characters to justify a Sonic-centric Sega racing game, that's why Sumo has to bring in more characters from Sega's other games. If it was Sonic only it would die as quick a death as Chocobo Racing, or Goemon Racing.
In order for anyone to care, as much of the Sega line-up has to be included as possible. So some people will play for Ryu, Ulala, Vyse, etc. Sega's characters are just not strong enough to support a kart game without the help of the entire Sega pantheon.

You take everything away from Mario Kart if you add "non-connected" characters to it. At the least make it a separate racing series called Nintendo Kart or Smash Brothers Racing, but don't go adding Samus and Link to Mario Kart itself. Even Falcon doesn't belong in a Mario-specific racer.

If they did make it a "celebration of everything Nintendo" like Smash Bros and indeed what Sega Allstars is itself, with heavy doses of nostalgia, then I would be fine with it and enjoy it, as long as it wasn't called "Mario Kart". Mario Kart is strong enough by itself, and doesn't need any help from other Nintendo "worlds".
