Far too expensive... At that price I'd expect the whole damn trilogy.
If they release Prime 2 and 3 later on as well (presumably at the same price) that's going to make the trilogy £105. Absolute ripoff, especially when considering this is just a remaster rather than a remake.

@FishyS Arceus didn't deserve to be nominated for anything let alone win something. It was a step forward in the right direction for Pokemon without a doubt, but still lags far behind the rest of the industry.

@RupeeClock I got a physical copy, have the day one patch installed and performance is horrendous. Storage really isn't a big factor/excuse at all for how badly the games run.

@Rhodeku The awful performance is a whole lot more than 0.1% of the experience. The game never runs consistently at 30fps.

Without the crappy graphics or awful performance I'd probably give it a 7.5/8. With all the problems it currently has now though it does not deserve anything more than a 6. Game is fun, but a chore to play with all the slowdown and abysmal frame rate.

@Exerion76 would love if they could borrows Square Enix's HD-2D engine, that would suit a Pokemon game really well.

Umm, yes they do. Look, I disliked Sw/Sh as much as the next guy, but performance wise they were nowhere near as bad as Scarlet and Violet are.

These made me laugh! Hope they focus on patching performance as soon as possible, I'm fed up of playing at <30fps. Funny bugs like this can wait to be fixed until the game actual runs at a playable framerate imo.

The game is fun, but I'm taking a break until they patch it up a bit. Performance is absolutely awful, constant fps drops for everything I do. I could deal with the aged graphics if the game ran at a stable fps, but together it's just too much. Hope they can patch it up ASAP, should be embarrassed to release a game in this state.

Love it and wish I could put this od on my cartridge. Now just need someone, anyone to fix the performance issues so the game doesn't run like ass.

Graphics aside, the game is pretty mediocre. Sure, in terms of Pokemon games it's absolutely great. But compared to the rest of the modern games industry? It still feels disappointingly half baked. The gameplay is repetitive, lackluster story and so on. Great for Pokeon standards, mediocre for industry standards.

I have a similar handheld PC (GPD Win 3) and use it much more often than my Switch!

I'll be waiting for reviews on this one. I want it to be good because it's about damn time the Pokemon formula is shaken up and Game Freak shows some ambition, but given their recent track record I just can't go off of trailers alone.

I really wish these were good remakes so I could go back to Sinnoh. As it stands though, I'm skipping them. Pokemon deserves better than these.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver are the pinnacle of Pokemon games, followed closely by B2W2. Everything after Sun and Moon has just been completely eh, disappointing when the franchise has shown it can be much better.

@CharlieGirl Do cancel it, don't let them keep getting away with making sub-par Pokemon games. The series deserves better.

All the people in here saying that they're disappointed in the games but still going to get them... You're part of the reason why we don't get good Pokemon games anymore.

Good review though, my mind was made up about not getting these after the leaks showed next to no new content. A huge disappointment compared to the prior Pokemon remakes, these games do not do Sinnoh justice.

@VanishStampede I know what cute is, and it definitely isn't lifeless, plastic looking chibi models. Seriously, the player character eyes are devoid of all signs of life. Link's Awakening remake is chibi done right.

They deserve every bit of legitimate criticism they get, the Pokemon games have been creatively bankrupt outside of creature designs for a long time.
Also that's a load of bull about making the core accessible to everyone. The games have been kids games right from the start with gen 1, and kids had plenty of fun with them. They do not need dumbing down any further.

@SilentHunter382 This is exactly how portable gaming PCs should be treated. Play the big, epic adventures on your main rig with a big screen and more power, then use the portable for the smaller games in your steam library that you want to play but aren't normally feeling like when you sit down a long, big screen session.

I'd have been all over the Steam Deck if I hadn't recently got a GPD Win 3. I'll wait for the Steam Deck 2 (hopefully).

Having a handheld PC has drastically reduced my Switch useage until a new exclusive I want comes out (looking at your BotW2).

I actually bought a handheld PC earlier this year, the GPD Win 3. I've been playing it pretty much every day since I've got it, much more so then my switch, but I am mostly a PC gamer so makes sense I guess. Handheld gaming PCs like this are awesome devices, but seeing as this one is similar in power to the Win 3 and both have their pros and cons (gyro controls, slightly more powerful hardware and track pads in Steam Deck. Slide up keyboard, smaller, slightly better battery and presumably easier to get ahold of for the Win 3) I'm okay to wait for a hopeful Steam Deck 2 before I get one!

Yeah this is an easy pass... No performance boosts (I wasn't even expecting the unreasonale 4K everyone else seems to have been hoping for) make this useless over the original model as someone who mostly plays docked.

@Brummieendo90 China already has a load of PC gamers that could play their Steam library on this though...

@BulbasaurusRex How would remaking it in this style ruin the map? It would still have the same locations and structure, it would just look a lot grander (as a remake should, take a look at Final Fantasy 7 remake). As for grid structure, hell even ORAS got rid of grid based movement.

@Entrr_username Those contracts were made well in advance of this acquisition though.

I like how the world looks, but would have appreciated more of an update such as with ORAS. Cannot stand the character models in the overworld though, they look devoid of life and just kinda ugly. Battles look good though, would have liked that look throughout the whole game.

I'm waiting for reviews on this one. 3D world is really good and I loved it, but I'm not in a rush to play it again. I do however really want Bowser's Fury, so my purchase is going to depend on how meaty it actually is.

I'll stick with the PC version, this game plays much better with mouse and keyboard than controller or touch screen.

A great deal for those who don't already have the game, but damn do I wish the DLC was discounted too.

How come Ring Fit Adventure is in the chart, and I STILL can't find a copy for a reasonable price? Even Amazon's limited preorders are above the recommended retail price...

To be honest I think it looks quite good! Definitely going to keep my eye on it. Barring the art style I didn't see anything that screames BotW.

While these games definitely deserve to be criticised, no-one can argue that this petition isn't ridiculous.

That said, @Damo I do have to complain that the quote "but – as our Pokémon Sword And Shield review clearly states" just screams "I'm right and your wrong, no other opinion matters!" Just seems a tad unprofessional, especially compared to the usual standards of this site.

The way some people deflect any and all criticism of these games (especially how most of it is warranted) it's like they don't want them to be anything more than merely acceptable at best.
