I didn't agree with him on most issues, but my heart sank like a ship when I heard about this. Regardless of any flak I or anyone else may have given the man, his influence is undeniable. Rest in Peace, Mr. Iwata.
I'm tired of Iwata saying the same crap over and over with a few new buzzwords added each time. I have absolutely no faith in him at this point, and no expectations for the NX. I'm almost certainly not buying it, and him not shutting up about it when he specifically said that we'd hear more in 2016 isn't helping either. You want my business from here on out Nintendo? Start by showing me that I wasn't a complete idiot for buying the U. Talk about the games you're making for it. Do something useful with the $150 screen you forced on me. At least ATTEMPT to make amends with your fans that willingly bought your last console despite its underpowered gimicks. I like my Wii U, I really truly do, but being perfectly honest, it might just be my last Nintendo console, and If the NX is a hybrid, my last Nintendo system. They've always been my favorite game company, I've been playing them since I was three years old. But I just can't keep supporting them if they don't change. I guess that's pretty ironic, complaining that "innovators" won't change, but I digress. And you can write this off as complaining, whining, not believing, not being a "true fan", I don't really care. They need to try a new strategy, because their current one simply doesn't work. EDIT: Those early morning typos though.
I honestly don't see this ending well, Nintendo's consoles never fare as well as their handhelds, and a unified platform would surely be seen as a console first, handheld later. Not to mention the problem of power supply and other issues I'm missing but don't have the time to mention at the moment.
@ThomasBW84 It seems to be. I guess the best way to look at it is as Nintendo's Machinima or Polaris. @JusticeColde When you put it that way, the concept of a system like this makes more sense. That being said, I think the creators should be getting at least 75-80% off of their videos, and waiting two months for payment is ridiculous. Hopefully Nintendo sorts that out sooner rather than later.
From my understanding, only some cutscenes and music are copyright claim-able in the first place, so if you're already with a network or are a partner, this is pretty much useless. Unless they're just trying to bring in new creators, which makes the most sense.
@Quorthon I don't see how me saying I wanted to know what makes it so different is proving your assumptions, but whatever. and I never said this was the first article on it either, half the front page is full of Splatoon at any given time. I didn't mention Uncharted or Gears for a reason, and if those were the closest tps games you could think of, you may want to reevaluate your own knowledge instead of questioning mine. That said, thanks for the link
@Quorthon While I appreciate you putting words in my mouth, I was asking what makes this game DIFFERENT. You know, as in I'm aware that genre similarity =/= same or copied game. But like I said, thanks for blindly assuming and unnecessarily defending.
I'm not hating on the game or anything, but can someone please explain what the big deal is over Splatoon? I watched the reveal live and it just looked like a TPS to me.
Got my codes today...gotta say, handles a lot better than i gave them credit for. Now hopefully they'll do the same for the wii u version... @secret333 That'd defeat the purpose of being early access. Plus they've stated that they don't have many codes.
@element187 Lol ok, so because I don't like the wiimote its a given that I can't adapt? I find that pretty ironic personally considering you brought up The Wonderful 101, one of my favorite games on the system (which, by the way, uses twin stick controls anyway. Yes I know it isn't an FPS but that doesn't exactly drive your point home regardless) I have no trouble adapting to anything, I simply, like many others, don't like the wiimote. It doesn't have anything to do with adaptation. You like the wiimote? Cool, that's fantastic for you. But demanding the wiimote be supported on a console with a completely different controller is contradictory to your twin sticks vs wiimote argument. While I also prefer keyboard and mouse, and agree that it is the superior control method, I don't play many fps in general, so insinuating that I'm a dudebro who think's they're amazing with twin sticks isn't exactly an apt description. Also, wiimote by no means needs fast reaction times. My eight-year-old cousin has no problem with the wiimote, and his reflexes are terrible. But let's just agree to disagree.
TL:DR I don't have any problem using the wiimote. I just don't like to.
@SecondServing I completely agree, but there's no point in trying to reason it out with them. In my experience I've found that most people who swear the wiimote was the perfect controller aren't going to listen to anything to the contrary.
I get what he was going for in the statement, but am I the only one that thought the bit about the "Nintendo genre" came off as a bit narcissistic at first glance?
Sigh It's just going to be another dissappointment as usual. Then everyone'll be all "NO NO NINTENDO KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!!!111" as usual. And the Wii U will continue to fade out of existence. As usual. They may as well just give up on it at this point...

Re: Sit Tight, Nintendo Will Announce Its E3 2015 Plans Tomorrow
I was one of the doubters of the digital event last year, but that ended up being pretty good. So, I'm staying relatively positive about this.
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 24th April
I watched all the Japanese Directs, and I'm still watching this. I assume we'll be seeing some dubwork in this as well.
Re: Talking Point: What We Expect from Nintendo Direct - 1st April
I expected disappointment, and other than SMTXFE and FE I got it. Ending with Mario Kart DLC? Really? Come on now...

Tropical freeze it is. Huh, I think I got Returns 3D as my reward last year...

Just make another Colors or Generations. SEGA's efforts to "shake Sonic up" Just end up sucking. Well, Lost World was decent, I'll give them that.

Re: September's Club Nintendo Reward Details Are Confirmed
Club Nintendo would be a lot...better, simply, if they offered new games as rewards. Because a few virtual console titles ain't cutting it anymore.
