@JR150
I'm on the same page, simply because i know Banjo only since Rare-Replay for XboxOne was released, before that i heard of him but i didn't know him, meanwhile Dragon Quest 8 was one of my most important entries besides Persona 3/4 which opened a new world to me, because with these Games i learned to enjoy Roundbased JRPGs... before that except Pokemon and Heroes of Might & Magic 3, i really disliked anything Roundbased and found it boring... and thanks to that i discovered great (classics) Games like Final Fantasy 7. Also another huge Part of it, due i grew up with Dragonball (Z) and also Dr Slump was part of my younger days i'm a huge fan of the Akira Toriyama Artstyle.
@Joe-b
To be honest, that's one thing which still confuse me up to this date, and even more after i could play some of the Gems in Rare Replay which i missed out, but for me it often sounds like an Nintendo-Bias for salty Fans who already need to trashtalk Rare did since Microsoft owned simple for the fact that Microsoft owned it. If you aren't an diehard nintendo x rare fan, i would say, while there might some missteps, they overall delievered still great games even with the flag of Microsoft. Viva Pinata, Kameo and heck, even Sea of Thieves are onpar with me with great classics like Conker or Banjo (where i also have to add, it feel even more biased if i see banjo fans trashtalk yokaa laylee, which also for me was kinda onpar with banjo[keep in mind that Yooka is an indie game)... so for me it tends more of the typical nostalgic childhood memories which this games push so up that high... rather more an openminded approach... however that's something which i tend often to see with other games anway as example cRPG where everything is worse then Baldurs Gate and for me it feels like... that it's an overstatement based on their own bias instead of fair judging).
@Dev893:
I hope so. Sea of Thieves is an great Game, i enjoy how it catch like other Rare Games the simplicity but still addicting Gameplay and the Rare-Charme..., but Microsoft / Xbox would need more of such Games like Banjo (proper JumpNRun/Adventures). I feel kinda bad if i look back that Xbox, while the plattform itself flopped so hard, had still a variety of great Games if i look at as example Blinx and such...
/edit: I also have to add, if someone owns an X1 and still didn't bought it, i can everyone recommend the Rare-Replay Collection. One of the best Collections which i've ever had besides the Master-Chief-Collections, and that's not only because of their games but also the way how such an Collection is delievered in general. The Interface, the extras, the Content(you have like 30[?] Games) etc...
Well, i'll actually miss this mot..f... mole. I was actually one of his worst enemy because i'm one of these type of guys who enjoyed trigger him that's why i spent much time simple restart the console without saving. Than again it's not that of an big deal for me due the Game still looks great.
@RupeeClock Which is okay for Killer-Instinct.But for an proper Battletoads Game the realistic Graphics shown from the GoW Creator or KI doesn't fit an mainbranch Game. So i've to agree with BionicDodo and Yandman +1 for Cartoon look for Battletoads.
@YorkshireNed If this is a honest question and not merely cynical, than Yes, i'm one of these Guys who are excited for new NES Games, might they be either "Popular" ones or "hidden Gems". Double Dragon 2 already excites me and i'll give the other two a look as well.
Well, for me it will be an Insta-Buy anyway due i enjoyed the Main-Game already, so much that i bought it even twice (PC and Switch), to get an mixed Version with one of my most Favorite Videogame-Series is a no-brainer for me.
@Aaronatorr: I might be pretty optimistic, but i can't help and think it will be like 15 bucks... 20 bucks at maximum.
Have it already on PC and while i never finished it completly, the Game is absolutely great and one of this Indie-Gems like Hollow Knight, Dead Cells and such.
@JamesJose7
Your Argument with "Vivox" doesn't prove your Argument, but moreover mine. Because Vivox need to be "implemented" into the Game itself, which means, that you need take Ressources which are allocated towards the Videogame-Ressources and use them for the Vivox implementations. However the Point of this Discuss is that we get an "Party-Chat" which means a app, which runs on the system in the Background while you play and are able to use it for whatever you play.
I picture that as percents. Let's say the Switch use (from 100%) obviously 10% for it's system and 90% for the Games, in your Vivox Argument what happens when Developers implement is to relocate from the 90% like 5% of it's games-ressources to Vivox implementations, which means they have less ressources for the Game itself, which is in such Case not really a problem, because that's more an optimization thing.
But if we talk about Discord implementation, you can't magically add 5% of the used 100% of the Nintendo-Switch, you need some spare % and if you don't have that you need to relocate in general ressources of the 90% for Games in general, and i can hardly imagine that happens. "Well, Developers - we take away another part of ressources so we can allow apps in the background like discord... please consider this with new games and also patch / optimize your older games, because they will break"
(and i have to point out, that your Argument of "it all be handled by vivox and not switch itself" is wrong as well, because it doesn't truly matter in this context... you still need spare ressources for the clients itself, even if the servers are outsorced...)
That's why i said, something like this should've been planned beforehand. Voice-Chat should have be planned in this % examples for the System % so allocate like 12 - 15% for such things like App in background like discord, and can't simply added afterward, except Nintendo have some plan b or reserve Ressources in the backhand...
@JamesJose7
Well, let's say Nintendo would follow your suggestion, and than allow Discord: How would that help? How would it "fix" Voice-Chat on Switch itself. Because like someone already pointed out, due the Nature of Consoles that they are closed devices, their Ressources are planed for specific purposes beforehand, which means if you add something, which isn't meant to be in there in the first place, like Voice-Chat which got outsourced to the Smartphone, they need to relocate Ressources which mainly for Videogames, to an App which runs in the Background, which would break said Games and worse the Performance! Except for the pretty rare chance that Nintendo saved up some of their Hardware-Ressources for "possible" Features like this for the Future, now it's to late for that and should've been planned from the beginning.. that's also the reason why Playstation 3 never had true Party-Chat, only the Games itself, because said Games simply use ressources specifically for the Games itself, and not add additional an app for the background so you have party-chat.
Don't get me wrong, i myself aren't the biggest fan for their decision to outsource PartyChat to an Smartphone-App(though except that the Nintendo App is pretty great... love the social features of Splatoon and SSBU), but to fix that issue there is more needed than mere allowing third-parties to fix NOS issues... it ain't that easy...
/edit:
Though i've to point out, in general i'm not against Discord on Switch, even without background Voice-Chat it's a nice addition if you can use Discord in-between Gamingsession, write / talk with people. I simply wanted to point out, it won't fix the issue that easy.
Idk, the more i see from this Game, the better it looks. I mean sure, i read through some stuff, and seems for an Game, which basically is an diablo-lite with Marvel License, there is some of Potential Missing like proper Skilltree and such, which would've been amazing to have so you can skill your Heroes differently and two thors (as example) are distinct to each other. However it still looks good and i bet it will be one of this "Hidden-Gems".
About "Skill".. in my experience with Games like this, in an Range from an Genre like the Warriors Games (Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors) to Hack'n'Slay like Diablo, Path of Exile, Grim Dawn and such, and everythin inbetween... while this Games often tend to start out as pretty easy Games, which might lead to the believing they are in the end mindless Button-Masher without skill, later on at the higher Difficulty-Levels People who think like that often are the first one who massively fall on their face. Diablo-esque Games with proper Skilltrees and huge list of Items, your first hurdle / step is to properly build your Character. If you throw mindlessly points around, and equip stuff which looks "only" cool, you will have a pretty hard time in such Games. Doesn't mean there isn't any build diversity (atleast for Games like this who are done well), but you need some kind of synergy so the Build itself makes sense. And the Second Part is also to know how to play the game and mostly your class / build. I know some folks, mostly the ones who never saw the endgame or hardest difficulties, discredit this games as mere "gear-check" Games, but i saw many newcomers who build strictly builds from Guides and also have the proper Equip and still fail to beat the hardest bosses and such, due they don't know how to play them. Gear-Check is for higher Content and Requirement for sure, but hardly an guarantee for beeing able to beat them. And the more such Games tends towars Warriors Titels, the more you need to know the combos, proper dodging and how to kill masses. So TL:DR - the Concept itself must neither be "repetitive" (in a bad way) nor "easy without any skill", but moreover it's an matter of how well the Game is developed and how good the balancing is... (though i have to point out, there are also some folks which doesn't bother if you are OP because they enjoy roflstomp everything)
/edit: Though i've to agree with a post above, that the release-time-frame is again an issue and there are quite some games coming out for Switch. Due i recently got my PSVR it's even more problematic because i've quite some gems which i need to buy at a later date so yeah...
I can't help, for me it's the same interesting Twist as with Detective Pickachu. The First Time i thought with Detective Pickahu they could make an Pokemon Horror-Movie, because the Pokemon looked so weird and scary, and not fitting at all. However the more often i watch the trailers and such, the more i get used to it and i actually want to see Detective Pikachu and it might be a real good movie.
The same goes for Sonic. It's weird to see him like that and a horror-movie would worked as well, but after seeing the trailer 2-3 times i'm actually interested in this Movie.
/edit: However, and don't get me wrong i don't find the song particular bad, but to add Gangsta Paradise in Sonic-Movie is like one of the absolute worst decision they could've made. Doesn't fit at all...
@Ayye-ant Well, i get atleast where you come from, but once you tried VR for yourself and see an proper implemented / developed Third-Person Game you can see, that it works for that as well, you might change your mind (i atleast did).
@PhilKenSebben Well i agree on your Point about PC Ports makes sense nowdays, because they sell pretty well, though i would disagree on the poin of beeing somewhat close. Maybe for the more mainstream / popular Games, but the majority of JRPG's i would argue sells on Console. Longterm it could be interesting because unlike Console there isn't much of Backwartscompatibility on PC due PC in general is pretty open about that, and Games which aren't compatible gets often fixed by the community, so PC can close the gap in the longterm...
/Edit:
Though if we talk about Visual Novel, i'd bet that Console doesn't stand an chance.
TBH i'm not very fond of it, and i'm truly disagree with one of the comments who pointed out that time-exclusivity is good or better then proper Exclusivity.
Exclusive Games are important, because this are Systemsellers and part of the Identity of an Plattform. Imagine every Nintendo Exclusive like Zelda, Mario or Animal Crossing would be also on PC and other Consoled, do you think any Nintendo Console would sell that well? I mean sure, i know the statistics as well that a huge portion of Folks also buy Third-Parties, but i'd argue they initially bought it for an exclusive as well. Like anyone would buy an Switch for an Fifa? But Folks who bought a switch for the Exclusive Title they were already interested in, surely will pick up also Thirds to make their library bigger.
/Edit2: Though i guess if Persona 5 is a real thing for Switch, it would be an great trade-off... well...
I mean sure, octopath isn't as big as Mario or Zelda, however i'd argue it still hurts and switch lose part of the idenity it has. Someone said: Well i'd rather not buy a Switch for one Game. But now you have zero reason, so what happens if another game gets released on Switch you want to play? Than you again would stick to one game ... otherwise you would have than 2 games already, and that might add up in the feature.
But what about Time-Exclusivity, why is it such an Dealbreaker to me? Because it diverse our gamingcommunity in different classes, and people who doesn't have (like in this example) an Nintendo Switch, will get handled as second class peasant, because for whatever reason(time-exclusivity often tends to be an deal / payed thing) they thing one portion of community should allowed to play a certain game earlier, maybe spoil the fun for others..
So no i'd rather have proper "real" exclusives than "time-exclusives". If a Game follow the mindset of being delievered on each plattform than pls do it from the beginning and don't force others to wait.
P.S.: I also find this "Final Fantasy" Argument wonky, because you compare an Game from PSX era(which some of this weren't exclusive from the beginning like FF7) with current gen games? Wow.. and even than i've to say, i wasn't a huge fan of Spyro and Crash Bandicoot on Xbox and Nintendo and should've stayed on PS IMHO.
That beeing said, i still wish all folks who play it on another plattform fun, it's an great game.
/edit:
Though i have also to point out, that i want to differ between time-exclusivity and delayed port. If someone say he want to focus (as example) on pc first and deliver an proper and smooth experience, and port it later on, that's okay and show's the priorities. That's not time-exclusivity per se, because the basic idea behind wasn't to push an certan Plattform(and get payed for that)...
Now the Question is, was OT ever meant as "exclusive"... or was it an "time-exclusive" or is it more they focused on Switch first, but did have an possible port in mind since beginning. Still my Point stands, that with that Switch will lose an great exclusive Game...
@Poloscen89 Well it's neither an "Free 2 Play" Game which needs to bait folks with an carrot to constant playing (and paying) nor an GaaS AAA Game, but an classic approach which worked for over 20 years for most Games(i mean look at melee it is still played) and i'd argue the majority of the Playerbase is happy about it. I don't say it's like i'm against additional Skins in general, but to this Point and to look at what SSBU offer it's only an "plus" and your complain is "nitpicky" than something which SSBU truly needs or to insult other people by claiming they turn an "blind eye" while they simply doesn't feel that way.
#Topic The Picture looks like an Photo of the Amiibo... and also i can't wait for Joker.
@Varkster
Well, "Port Begging" is an modern overdrama word for people, who ask if an Game will be released on switch. Sure there are some people who are pretty annoyingly whine about having an port, but it seems most people who aren't very fond of Nintendo Switch can't handle people who only ask / wish this games for their plattform. For me it sounds like fanboi's bias, which doesn't want other plattform to enjoy great games... i would've understood if we talk about first party games like uncharted, but third parties. Than againi i'm one of this guys who really hope bayonetta 2 and 3 never will be on any other plattform than nintendo switch, because for me mentioned other plattform doesn't deserve this great masterpiece with they way they handled the project. (and funnily enough, i remember some people who cried over bayonetta 2, but back than with bayonetta 1 they trashtalked the game and called it an dmc ripoff carbage... so for me it feels that a major of folks who cry about bayo 2 nintendo exclusive aren't geniunly interest in the game, but moreover can't handle that nintendo 've gotten it as exclusive).
However while i also see the possibly pretty high, i wouldn't take it as guarantee that P5R will really be released on Switch...
@DavidMac
Yes, however as far as i remember (tbh i wasn't very fond of Persona 3 Portable due they've cut animecutscene and freeroam outside of dungeons) it wasn't like RPGs like Mass Effect or something like that an mere Gender-Swap as simple skin, but moreover the dialogues / npc reaction towards you and such changed as well.
@Bondi_Surfer
Well, first: We don't know for sure if persona 5 royale won't be released on switch as well. We need for 24 april for confirmation.
Secondly: Joker will be the first DLC Character. Which means if it's true that the new female character will be like Persona 3 Portable the female Maincharacter where you can choose either him or her, it's a big deal / proper news for an "nintendo" side because that would also suggest that she might be a skin for joker in SSBU...
Even though i bought it already on Smartphone, i happily would buy it for Switch again. Besides Ace Attorney one of my absolute favorites for (3)DS..
(/Edit: First of all, before someone hates me because i "bought" it on "Smartphone" for me this is the perfect fit for Smartphone. It plays pretty smoothly. Second: Then why rebuying it on Switch? Please think about it... an Professor Layton an an TV-Screen... that's amazing!!)
@jobvd
I want to point out, this "port-begging" insults will backlash the day, when an Persona Game is truly released on another Plattform. The Chance that Persona will be ported to another Plattform is actually pretty high, even more if you consider that such "extended Ports" are released on Handhelds as well and sony doesn't have any handheld for that.
I would wait atleast for 24 April before you throw around such an statement, because it wouldn't be the first time either Sony or Microsoft have an announce-deal where it seems like a Game is exclusive but once more details are open to public, it's for other plattform confirmed as well.
Besides also Nintendo could be the reason and they have a deal to announce the Game on an specific time(dlc release?) for marketing purpose.
/edit: Don't get me wrong, i don't say P5R is 100% confirmed, but unlike Sony-Fan(bois) there is a legit reason to belive that it might be ported for switch (and PC). A lot of Sony / Playstation Exclusives are nowdays mutlplattform, heck even quantic dream games aren't exclusive anymore.. and atlus isn't even first party..
@DavidMac
Nah, you can backlash me if i'm wrong, but i'm 100% sure "Jane" or how she will called in the Royal is the Female Protagonist like Persona 3 Portable did. So the Counterpart for Joker, which means a new fresh playthrough with her instead of Joker...
So if she is in the Game, it will be a "skin" like Robin, Villager etc...
Well i have to finish Resident Evil 2 Remake(PC) and Tales of Zestiria(PS4), on the Switch most likely Raid Mode of RE Revelations 2 or Monster Hunter. Also if Friends have time i will squeeze BO4, BFV and/or Grim Dawn into it.
Well as someone who kinda grew up with bugs bunny, i can't help and prefer scorbunny over the other too, though Grookey is cool too.
However for me the endstage is more important, if i consider sun and moon, i really hated this owl(sorry i don't know the english names) and loved the fire-cat, but the endstage this ninja owl was way cooler...
Well, if you consider that i'm a huge Zelda Fan(boy) the Fact that Astral Chain was my highlight of the direct means something. The Game looks pretty Amazing and if you consider the Team which is behind the Game, i'm pretty optimistic that we get a great game again.
#Artstyle / Graphic: I kinda have to disagree with the Argument of "generic, typical Japanese c***" because it's kinda fresh and not that often used. If i think about it, only Freedom Wars and Daemon comes to my mind. The most used Graphic / Artstyle is more like ToS and such if we go Anime route...
@Kalmaro That's where in my opinion you are on the wrong end. They can't make the DLC Price cheaper, because if they would do that, than the whole Game wouldn't be the 30 Bucks they had for their game in mind... except they would've sold it for 20 bucks and than 10 bucks for the DLC Characters...
We aren't talking about a Game, which ask you to pay for another Fullprice-DLC to an Fullprice Game, if we'd argue about let's Battlefield or CoD with their Season-pass / Premium Pricetag, than i would've understood your point, but we talk here about an Concept, where they sell a Game for it's half price so it's easier for most folks (and except some very few examples like you, most people i know enjoy that approach) to give it a try and see how it is going.
And if they would've cut half of the content, so it fit's more of your "pricetag" vision, it would have even more problematic, because you can't enjoy the Game to the fullest with the Characters you have... so it would force people to buy the second edition / dlc anyway and than you have ask yourself, why to do this concept anyway? You can deliver the fullpackage in store for 30 bucks instead... it doesn't makes any difference anymore...
Well the Issue which i have with the Review is, i have no problem with an different opinion or score, but for me it reads like you handle down Monster Hunter to an Solo-RPG Player wo did expect an Dragons Dogma instead.
If i read about such things like Checkpoint, i think "why?" Does Monster Hunter have Checkpoints? Nope because if it would've it would make the Mission->Quest->Concept kinda worthless. It's meant to finish in one go and if you aren't able to do so(and i want to point out you can die in mission quite often like 3 or 5 Times or so, and you revive at the exact place where you died), than you have to retry it "like" Monster Hunter, because that's the Spirit of the Game. To offer an great co-op experience like similiar Games...
Also i have hugely disagree with the spongy argument. If you know to play, even in Solo you can kill monsters and bosses pretty fast, due it seems they have an scaling system for Solo and MP. And the Classes play so distinctive that you, if you swap from Empress to Witch you feel like you play an complete different Game...
@BulbasaurusRex Well, for me it seems there is a scaling system. However such a thing can't fix the Questdesign. That might be the only aspect (besides the missing Co-op Experience on one Switch) where i can understand Solo-Enthusiasts who prefer handcrafted predefined solo experiences, some quests aims toward groups and teamplay and for that it can be somewhat stressfull for solo players who aren't used to the Monster Hunter Approach.
DMFD is more comparable to Dragons Crown than Odin's Sphere (or Muramasa) if people know Vanillaware Games...
@Kalmaro I would still argue it's nice gesture and a good concept. I know some Games, even Indie Games, which deserves more than the common Pricing of 15-20 Bucks, but due some Prejudgment of Folks or due they aren't sure if they can enjoy an Game long enough to see the value in it or to worth it for them, 30-40 Bucks for an Indie-Game even more for an Pixel-Look can pretty problematic.
This is actually pretty good trade off. You sell the Game cheaper like an starter-kit for the half of price with half of the roster... 15 Bucks are pretty easier to handle, and if you enjoy the game you buy the rest of the game as well.
@Razieluigi
Well they worked on the game since 10 Years, they even added an full orchestra soundtrack from all over the world, and the 4 Hours i spent into it i would say, if the rest of the game hold the quality it deserves the 30 Bucks...
And i don't see the issue to offer an "starter"kit for 15 bucks so people can look into the game and look how much they like the game, and if they are happy, they spent another 15 for the other two classes... (and actually most people i know find this approach pretty cool but whatever... )
#Topic:
Dragon Marked for Death and Wargroove for me!
I played 4 Hours DMFD and it's amazing, it's pretty difficulty solo, but it motivates you to try it again after you fail, and the classes play pretty differently... now i can't wait until wargroove is unlocked...
@rockodoodle Because you and your kind don't understand, if it comes down to this it isn't an matter of year we live in but an matter of the Artstyle itself. If i look at Tiny Metal, yeah it's cool and such, but it simply doesn't offers the same charme which the Games offered with this Retro-Pixel Look. (And by the way Advanced Wars was 2001 not 1993.... if you try to insult the artstyle than please do it properly...).
And that's also the Issue with the modern Harvest Moons compared to Stardew Valley... besides the Gameplay, the look pretty generic and not very charming, while Stardew Valley offers an Artstyle which fits perfectly to what it want to offer...
@zionich I feel the same, though the real hype for Wargroove started once they announced release date.
#Topic: Well i will buy it two times anyway, because i enjoy such games more if i can run it on the console itself without swap the cartridge, so i will buy the digital edtions (Frontline Fighters i already have, the advanced fighters i will buy on february) for playing purpose and the physical for my collection!
@Heavyarms55
That, and it even surprised me that folks here weren't more hyped about it. Advanced Wars is one of the best Games of all time, and this is a true remiscences to this classic masterpiece...
That paired with Chucklefish, as a Starbound-Fan i'm really hyped they introduced the Floran (Starbound Race) into WarGroove.
It's kinda sick, because next week will be released two of my absolute most wanted Indie Games, which were onpar with Games like Metroid 4 and Bayonetta 3 to me, Dragon Marked for Death and War Groovve.....
But back to the Topic:
I liked almost every of this games, but besides WarGroove i would say CrossCode and the new Steamworld Game looks the most interesting to me!
Well if i ever should buy it again (sold it, wasn't that impressed with X plus X-2 and still prefer 7&9 and even some of the modern ones like XII, LR and XV over it) than i don't mind, if it's the whole Game. God Eater and other Games on different plattforms offered that as well, (except some special edition it was the same for Bayonetta) and it never bothered me... however if it would be like you have a part of the game on cartridge and the rest you need to download like l.a.noir and such, than it would be a big deal...
If you only can enjoy the Game for an Hour or 5 Minutes, than sure, the Game is overpriced, but that would count for every game, even games like Zelda or Mario.
However if you can enjoy this game and spent time in it(i have around 62 Hours) you get a huge content package, you can enjoy that co-op for an Game which satire Simulation-Games it have a pretty decent quality (there are very few examples of simulators which are actually good). Also people should not forget to port a game over to an plattform like this means work, and if its a good port even more work, so that kinda need to be payed as well besides the game itself...
@Heavyarms55 Well, Year 2018 i couldn't decide on one Game as GotY because Spiderman AND Super Smash Bros were equally amazing to me... i mean sure, some might argue it have some typicall open world flaws and after Batman Arkham Series it doesn't have the same impact anymore, due at that time to have an Superhero Game in this quality was pretty non-existing, but if you keep in mind that i also played God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2 which were great games as well, it shows on my side how good Spiderman is...
@Evilworm
Well i would've taken your comments serious, if you wouldn't have called SSBU as an reskinned, dumbed down whatever meh game... and if you look how successfull indiegames are on steam, i would argue that if switch is a plattform which have a huge focus on indies, it still isn't doomed because a huge crowd of gamers are into these...
Well atleast the next upcoming Game which i would count as one of my absolute Most Wanted will be Dragon Marked for Death. Inti Crate did so far an pretty amazing job with their games, but the reason why i can't wait for Dragon Marked for Death is because since Maple Story i looked for an proper offline variant of it, and DMFD come a bit closer to the dream.
Except that, i would say obivviously games like Daemon x Machina, Metroid 4 (if it will be released this year) , animal crossing, yoshi, bayonetta 3, fire emblem... if the leaks are true than Persona 5 for switch and many more.
@BulbasaurusRex With that argument, why wish 16bit Games for Switch at all, because the same logic would follow Nintendo Switch in general, because compared to 16bit Games like Breath of the Wild etc would be the superior Artstyle (or if you go with 2D Graphics like New Super Mario Bros) - so no, your Argument is invalid, even if it's about the Size and Number of the Pixel, there isn't something like superior, because if you change from 8bit to 16 you will see it in the overall quality and feel more fake. Okay Shovel Knights does some tricks but overall it stays true to its 8bit roots. And that's why it still makes sense if you purposely limit it, so you stay more true to it's initial artdesign.
And if you don't accept this as Answer, than we can argue about true NES Games, because they also looks as good as SNES Games, only different. Though you don't need to answer on that, because i'm done with the discuss, i don't want to argue with close minded elitist which think an Artstyle which is purely based on Taste and taste only to claim something is "superior". (And by the way, yes - i would've bought / played / enjoyed N64 Graphics on GC as well, because if i look at Ocarina of Time, Banjoo Kazoee etc its also an beautiful artstyle. And before you come up with some "nostalgic" bs - i skipped n64 entirely so i don't have any kind of connection to n64 which links me with nostalgic)
@BulbasaurusRex There isn't such a thing as "superior" if it's about Artstyle, it's an matter of taste... and each of this artstyles offers their own charme.
I found as example Shovel Knight as beautiful as classic SNES Games or Games which want to catch this particular Arstyle (though most of the 16bit reminiscences are kinda fake because they offer more details the the good ol games did back than) like owlboy or even more modern Artstyle like Hollow Knight...
#Topic:
Well it looks okay, i like the music but the gameplay didn't catch me that much. Though it also matters of the price, if i see it for 3 up to 5 bucks i might consider a buy.
@tourjeff Well i want to point out, that this is Game is even more niche than the maingames... and i have to point out a lot of sites test for the mainstream, so an game like travis strike again have a hard game... it doesn't matter how bad or how good it actually is.
Well i don't care either way... i follow the general idea for an final judgment, the only opinion that matter is your own and for that you need to play the game for yourself anyway... even more if it's an game like this...
@e0ne0ne Well i still have the demo installed and want to get it at some point, but with all the upcoming games it's pretty hard (KH3, RE2, Anthem, dragon marked for death and so on) money and timewise....
@Lemmy_the_Koopa Though i would argue, if an Capcom | Activision would sell this much only on Switch, they also would call it a success and would be happy, even more if you consider it for the first week. Because as far as i remembered this "dissapointed" news are often after the game was released for awhile...
Though i don't see why Vonderhaar laughing about the Question for an "possible Switch Port". Well Breakout could be "theoretical" a problem, if there wouldn't be other BR Games on Switch, and from an Graphical Standpoint if they want to suggest any kind of "our Game is way to technical advanced for switch... look at the Graphics" than i'm sorry, in that Case i would be the one laughing at Vanderhaar, his Team and whole Activision.
It does looks polished and their Team are pretty good designers, and that's in my opinion the only thing which rescues every year CoD's ass because if we talk about the graphics / technical aspect alone, than it still feels like they stucked in the early 2007/2008(when was MW1 released?) and for that they can't blame it on the Console etc ... because as you see with BFV - there would be way way way more possible.
Though i have to admit, i want to have this Emote... need to look where to get that. Edit: Nevermind i already have the emote...
@SBandy Because to call someone out for such an trivial hobby as an "freak" isn't an "viewpoint" but moreover an Insult and in my opinion kinda misantrophic.
Your whole Attitude reflects more on your behaviour than some Fanart / Fanfic for an Fan-Character... and y'know "You shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glasshouse".
#back to topic:
Well, i didn't like Bowsette to begin with and i didn't expect it anyway for her to get Canon.
Well, if it would be only the competitive Scene, but Folks tend to forget that first and foremost the Game is an Party-Game, which is one of the biggest Crossover-Games on Earth. You know what that mean? Most People play this Game to play an certain Character, so it's pretty unfair to begin with to lock their Favorite Character behind an Grindwall and force them to play Characters they might not want to play... and even further:
If you play this with many friends & family this whole unlocking becomes an Chore. I couldn't even enjoy the Game properly or even enjoy the "unlocking" first day due i had to prepare for the weekend to unlock every character, so we can enjoy the Release of Ultimate at the FULLEST... (And i even had to use tricks to make it happen anyway due the 10 minute limit)
I know, nowdays People need their (cheap) Carrots to enjoy a Game and keep interested in it... i mean look at Ego-Shooter which can't come anymore with fairplay in mind but have unlock thousands of things, even if unbalance the Game(newcomers don't fail because of skill, but due they don't have the strongest weapons / mods unlocked) and make it not very competitive in it's mind.. (cough CoD cough) and don't misunderstand me, i'm not an lazy casual who can't spent much time into an game, because i want to spent much Time into Games... and i also enjoy a good part of unlockables. I wouldn't have mind to Grind the heck out of an epic skin for each Character... i don't mind to spent Time into unlocking all Spirits, and i also enjoy to unlocking this Characters within the Singleplayer-Adventure-Mode called World of Light. But this things should make sense... even more if sakurai argue his Games aim to be "fun", but this wasn't Fun for me, and even though i truly love Ultimate and is the best SSB for me, if i have to point out one thing which i really hate with a deep frustration and anger in my soul, it was to unlock this freaking ~70 Characters... this whole "unlock" Concept should've been complete optional...
So yes, though it's an different case for me, i understand this Guy... imagine to do this over and over again sounds like eternal penality of hell to me... and this overexaggerating should tell you how much i despise this whole unlocking...
I want to Point out, we talk about a Company which did nothing let slip to troll us at the SSBU Anouncements and even go that far, to deliever an plant over waluigi, geno and so on... and also a Company (atleast how i remember) never would agree to an leak anyway, because they don't want to give away their Anouncement so easily. I don't say Skyward Sword will happen, but i will wait for the VGA or E3 before i truly take "no plans for skyward sword" seriously... until that for me it is "No Plans to announce / reveal skyward sword".
Well, than we can hope there will be Nintendo-Exclusive Missions / Content. It would fit perfectly to start a Riot because of no Waluigi in SSBU or no Subspace... or Nintendo Online Service...
It makes me wonder, that there isn't already an Youtube / Social-Network-Hater-Simulation. Would be funny to play a game, where you need to hate and downvote on things as much as you can.
Well, truth to be told, i've come to the Point where PSX Graphics are as charming as 8bit and 16bit Games are... i even picked up this Vaccine Game or how it was called for the Nintendo Switch.
Also i can't agree with the People if they say PSX doesn't have good Games or Games which are Iconic as Nintendo, because there are more than enough, also which aged pretty well, the only difference Sony and Nintendo for me is that Nintendo stick to their Games, while Sony focus on new IP's. Even their older IP's are so overhauled, that they hardly feel like their previous Games anymore (look at God of War), so you could say Nintendo is more the traditional experience, while Sony throws at you new things...
But if i look back at the PSX they had really great Games and i'm Happy the even put into some less popular Games than you might expected.
However if it comes down to the Mini-Consoles itself, i'm not the biggest Fan of either of them. For me they are Gimmick-Plattforms which are nice to have, but it's nothing which i would play on. I'm someone who trully can enjoy Games from each era, but the only thing which i can't are things like get back to old Gamepads and such... and for either NES, SNES, nor PSX Controller, even if it might feel more nostalgic, aren't any good Gamepads anymore ... and that's my Issue. I want to have all of this Libraries but i would prefer if they also deliever them for Switch and PS4 where you can buy this Titles, even as "Mini-bundle" ... and i can play this on my modern Consoles (or in Switch Case on the Go) while i enjoy this Great Games. Then again, that might be also the Reason, why you never will see me play SSBU with GC Controllers, because for that example it's the same...
@DarkKirby
Well, i loved the Story of Bayonetta, even more than Devil May Cry, maybe not as much as God of War, but compared to that, God of War lacks in Terms of Gameplay.... but in general Bayonetta is one of my Favorite Story's in the past Years...
#Topic:
Actually this is the best News for me today... i love grinding stuff, (well y'know - shouldn't surprise anyone if he know the Game which is my Avatar) and though i really enjoyed the Cutscenes in Brawl... it still didn't made a good Story-Mode / Campaign for me, so i prefer if a Game like this Focus on Gameplay first...
@Alucard83 Well to be fair, as someone who also own's a Playstation 4 plus XboxOne, 500gb are nothing. In relation compared to NSwitch Games the Games of PS4 and Xbox are way bigger... 60 up to 100gb are pretty common so in relation to that you don't have "more gb" anyway... and by the way in case of PS4 / X1 you even have an forced installation... so unlike switch were most Retail-Games don't need any kind of space except Updates....

Re: Phil Spencer Says Microsoft Had No Problem With Banjo-Kazooie Appearing In Smash Bros. Ultimate
@JR150
@Joe-b
@Dev893:
Re: Random: Animal Crossing's Angry Mole Mr. Resetti Has Lost His Job
Well, i'll actually miss this mot..f... mole.
I was actually one of his worst enemy because i'm one of these type of guys who enjoyed trigger him that's why i spent much time simple restart the console without saving. Than again it's not that of an big deal for me due the Game still looks great.
Re: Random: God Of War Artist Shows Us How The Battletoads Reboot Should Have Looked
@RupeeClock
Which is okay for Killer-Instinct.But for an proper Battletoads Game the realistic Graphics shown from the GoW Creator or KI doesn't fit an mainbranch Game. So i've to agree with BionicDodo and Yandman +1 for Cartoon look for Battletoads.
Re: Dragon Quest's 'The Hero' Revealed As The Next Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Character
@Pod Agree on that, and due they added DQ8 Main-Character, i have to admit i'm even more hyped about the DQ DLC than Banjo.
Re: Here Are Your Nintendo Switch Online NES Games For The Month Of June
@YorkshireNed If this is a honest question and not merely cynical, than Yes, i'm one of these Guys who are excited for new NES Games, might they be either "Popular" ones or "hidden Gems". Double Dragon 2 already excites me and i'll give the other two a look as well.
Re: It Looks Like Zelda Crossover Cadence of Hyrule Will Surprise Us By Launching This Week
Re: Slay The Spire Brings Single-Player Deck Building To The Switch This June
Have it already on PC and while i never finished it completly, the Game is absolutely great and one of this Indie-Gems like Hollow Knight, Dead Cells and such.

Re: Discord App For Switch Would 'Need Nintendo's Blessing'
@JamesJose7
Re: Discord App For Switch Would 'Need Nintendo's Blessing'
@JamesJose7
Re: Video: 7 Minutes Of New Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order Gameplay
Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Gets Its First Official Trailer, And It's Definitely Something
Re: Hands On: Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild VR Made Us Want To Puke
@Ayye-ant
Well, i get atleast where you come from, but once you tried VR for yourself and see an proper implemented / developed Third-Person Game you can see, that it works for that as well, you might change your mind (i atleast did).
Re: Octopath Traveler's Switch Exclusivity Might Be Coming To An End
Re: Octopath Traveler's Switch Exclusivity Might Be Coming To An End
Re: Did Best Buy Leak Joker's Render For Smash Bros. Ultimate Ahead Of Schedule?
@Poloscen89
Well it's neither an "Free 2 Play" Game which needs to bait folks with an carrot to constant playing (and paying) nor an GaaS AAA Game, but an classic approach which worked for over 20 years for most Games(i mean look at melee it is still played) and i'd argue the majority of the Playerbase is happy about it. I don't say it's like i'm against additional Skins in general, but to this Point and to look at what SSBU offer it's only an "plus" and your complain is "nitpicky" than something which SSBU truly needs or to insult other people by claiming they turn an "blind eye" while they simply doesn't feel that way.

The Picture looks like an Photo of the Amiibo...

Re: Rumour: New Persona 5 Trailer Connected To Recent Smash Bros. Ultimate Datamine
@Varkster
Re: Rumour: New Persona 5 Trailer Connected To Recent Smash Bros. Ultimate Datamine
@DavidMac
@Bondi_Surfer
Re: Professor Layton And The Curious Village Appears To Be Making The Switch
Even though i bought it already on Smartphone, i happily would buy it for Switch again. Besides Ace Attorney one of my absolute favorites for (3)DS..
(/Edit: First of all, before someone hates me because i "bought" it on "Smartphone" for me this is the perfect fit for Smartphone. It plays pretty smoothly. Second: Then why rebuying it on Switch? Please think about it... an Professor Layton an an TV-Screen... that's amazing!!)
Re: Rumour: New Persona 5 Trailer Connected To Recent Smash Bros. Ultimate Datamine
@jobvd
@DavidMac
Re: First-Person Buddy Cop Shooter RICO Shoots Its Way To Switch Next Week

Well i have to finish Resident Evil 2 Remake(PC) and Tales of Zestiria(PS4), on the Switch most likely Raid Mode of RE Revelations 2 or Monster Hunter. Also if Friends have time i will squeeze BO4, BFV and/or Grim Dawn into it.
Re: Want Resident Evil On Your Switch? You'd Better Have Deep Pockets

Re: Studio Head Of PlatinumGames Talks About Astral Chain In Official Blog Post
Well, if you consider that i'm a huge Zelda Fan(boy) the Fact that Astral Chain was my highlight of the direct means something.
The Game looks pretty Amazing and if you consider the Team which is behind the Game, i'm pretty optimistic that we get a great game again.
#Artstyle / Graphic:
I kinda have to disagree with the Argument of "generic, typical Japanese c***" because it's kinda fresh and not that often used. If i think about it, only Freedom Wars and Daemon comes to my mind. The most used Graphic / Artstyle is more like ToS and such if we go Anime route...
Re: Review: Dragon: Marked for Death - An Attractive Action Title That's All Burned Out When It Comes To Fresh Ideas
@Kalmaro
That's where in my opinion you are on the wrong end.
Re: Review: Dragon: Marked for Death - An Attractive Action Title That's All Burned Out When It Comes To Fresh Ideas

Well, for me it seems there is a scaling system.
@Kalmaro
I would still argue it's nice gesture and a good concept.
Re: Nintendo Download: 31st January (North America)
@Razieluigi
Re: Review: Wargroove - A Turn-Based Strategy Classic That Intelligent Systems Would Be Proud Of
@rockodoodle Because you and your kind don't understand, if it comes down to this it isn't an matter of year we live in but an matter of the Artstyle itself.
Re: Dragon: Marked For Death Physical Edition Arrives In The West This March
@zionich I feel the same, though the real hype for Wargroove started once they announced release date.
#Topic:
Well i will buy it two times anyway, because i enjoy such games more if i can run it on the console itself without swap the cartridge, so i will buy the digital edtions (Frontline Fighters i already have, the advanced fighters i will buy on february) for playing purpose and the physical for my collection!
Re: Video: Watch The Nintendo Indie Highlights Presentation January 2019
@Heavyarms55
Re: Sorry North America, You’ll Also Have To Download Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster
Re: Surprise! Goat Simulator: The GOATY Is Available On Switch Right Now
@Heavyarms55 <- This.
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Was The Fifth Best-Selling Game Last Year In The US
@Heavyarms55 Well, Year 2018 i couldn't decide on one Game as GotY because Spiderman AND Super Smash Bros were equally amazing to me... i mean sure, some might argue it have some typicall open world flaws and after Batman Arkham Series it doesn't have the same impact anymore, due at that time to have an Superhero Game in this quality was pretty non-existing, but if you keep in mind that i also played God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2 which were great games as well, it shows on my side how good Spiderman is...
@Evilworm
Re: Nintendo Power Podcast Wants To Know The Switch Games You're Most Looking Forward To In 2019
Well atleast the next upcoming Game which i would count as one of my absolute Most Wanted will be Dragon Marked for Death.
Re: Real Men Use Items! Looks Like An 8-Bit Super Smash Bros., And It's Coming Exclusively To Nintendo Platforms
Re: Piranha Plant Will Become Available In Smash Bros. Ultimate “Around” February
@LilDoggo48 Well, i think his Death Stare in MK want to have a word with you...
#Topic:
Neat, but to be honest i can't wait for Joker...
Re: Real Men Use Items! Looks Like An 8-Bit Super Smash Bros., And It's Coming Exclusively To Nintendo Platforms
Re: Review: Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes - A Stylish Return For The Otaku Hitman
Re: Nintendo's Private Store Event Turned Out To Be A Promotion For Fitness Boxing
@e0ne0ne Well i still have the demo installed and want to get it at some point, but with all the upcoming games it's pretty hard (KH3, RE2, Anthem, dragon marked for death and so on) money and timewise....
Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate Global Sales Passed Five Million In Just One Week, Says Nintendo President
@Lemmy_the_Koopa Though i would argue, if an Capcom | Activision would sell this much only on Switch, they also would call it a success and would be happy, even more if you consider it for the first week. Because as far as i remembered this "dissapointed" news are often after the game was released for awhile...
Re: Review: Fitness Boxing - Rhythm Trappings Help This Limber Wii Fit Successor Land Its Punches
@Anti-Matter Though wouldn't it be in this case, if you only want to play it for fun, better to play ARMS?
Re: Random: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Pays Respects To The Nintendo Switch
Re: Random: Nintendo Confirms Only Toadette Can Wear The Super Crown, Bowsette Officially Debunked
Re: Locked Character Roster In Smash Bros. Ultimate Raises Concerns About Tournament Play
Re: The Dream's Over Folks, Nintendo Confirms There Are "No Plans" For Zelda: Skyward Sword On Switch
Re: Start A Riot On Switch When Merge Releases This Simulation Game Early Next Year
Well, than we can hope there will be Nintendo-Exclusive Missions / Content.
But joke aside, it really looks interesting.
Re: Feature: SNES Classic Edition Vs. PlayStation Classic - Which One Should You Choose?
Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate's World Of Light Mode Focuses On The "Loot Grind", Rather Than Epic Cutscenes
@DarkKirby
Re: Random: Nintendo Is Now Refusing To Offer Stock To Amazon France After Disagreements
