Last December, we found out Bruce Campbell would be returning to his role as Ash Williams in Evil Dead: The Game. The title was targeting a 2021 release across all consoles, including the Nintendo Switch.
Now, in an update via social media, it's been announced the team is aiming for the new release date of February 2022. Here's the full statement:
Evil Dead: The Game will be releasing in February 2022 - Hey groovy gamers, we're targeting a new release date to give the team some extra time for polish and to ensure this is the ultimate Evil Dead experience you’re all waiting for!
This additional time is also allowing us to implement a single-player option that will let you enjoy the game when you are without your co-op compadres.
We want to thank everyone for your understanding and support and please stay tuned for more information about new character updates, pre-order availability, and the next gameplay video featuring Bruce Campbell.
As noted, an update will follow this about new character updates, pre-order availability, and more. How do you feel about this delay? Tell us down below.

All that first trailer for Evil Dead did was make me wish Bruce Campbell made a cameo in either of the Insomniac Spider-Man games
I'll be getting this on Ps4 or 5 if I have made the jump. I am glad I got Friday 13th on PS4 and this is a similar thing. I don't want an online game with Nintendo's terrible online service. I would also like the better graphics and most likely, a lower price.
@TheFrenchiestFry Raimi>Insomniac
@TheFrenchiestFry Spider-Man 2 on PS5 better have Bruce Campbell as Mysterio like the original plan. And they should have him appear as several NPCs throughout the game first.
@TheFrenchiestFry Imagine if any version of Spiderman got trapped in the insomniac universe where all female characters are... a bit frumpy. Maybe that is the terrifying story of NoWayHome?
Everything is delayed until next year.
Like Friday the 13th and The Blair Witch game, this will hit the bargain bin sooner anyways so that's when I may pick it up.
It's a bit upsetting, but if they need more time to polish it, I don't mind the wait. Besides, it gives it some more breathing room compared to some of the other big co-op horror games coming up (Aliens Fireteam Elite and Back 4 Blood), so it helps there, too! I know they're different in terms of gameplay, but I still worried those would steal all the attention from Evil Dead. I'm excited for all three, but Evil Dead might be the one I'm anticipating the most since I love the series and I think the footage so far looks promising.
@nessisonett @TheFrenchiestFry What we need is Bruce Campbell NPC talking to Bruce Campbell NPC. Much like how Mafia 2 has Nolan on Nolan action.
@Moistnado Why do you hate Insomniac's Spider-Man so much? it's one of the best PS4 games.
Last minute adding single-player option is an alarm bell for poor organisation and lack of clear vision. Hopefully not though!
“ This additional time is also allowing us to implement a single-player option that will let you enjoy the game when you are without your co-op compadres.”
Makes it all worth it IMHO.
@AG_Awesome yes it is
@Moistnado they are adding a single player mode
The only good Evil Dead game for me was Evil Dead: Regeneration, I'd rather play that on my Switch again than this.
Oh cool, when they first announced this I was lamenting the lack of a single player mode. Hopefully it's not totally slapdash.
@Whitestrider That game was great. I love that there was a dedicated button for drop kicking Ash's deadite sidekick into spinning fan blades, etc.
@HotGoomba because insomniac made all the hot female characters ugly. So lame.
Not groovy at all.
Aw. Was looking forward to this one, but for the best
@Moistnado That is an awful reason. That's like if I said that Mario Odyssey was a terrible game because Bowser isn't as hot as in his other games.
Single player - I’ll wait patiently.
@HotGoomba no I have a problem with the fact they didn't give Peter Parker a double chin and beer gut. That would be equality. I didn't say the game was bad, just that all the female characters are a bit frumpy.
I'm starting to think that this guy is a troll
Im glad the single player option is being worked on.
