Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Can Exploit Its Rich History With More Remasters

I love how the article goes to great lengths to point out that the majority of heavy lifting on these will be done by outside studios, yet most of the comments will somehow completely miss that point.
I say, bring them on. It's going to be a slow year for Wii U so I'd totally take a slick remaster of Mario Sunshine for summer or Luigi's Mansion HD around Halloween.

I need confirmation that #FE is getting localized, first and foremost. That's the only retail Wii U game that I really, really need. Hive Jump, Kerbal Space Program, and some other eShop games will fill out the year for me there. I'll get Star Fox if the reviews are great.
I'd like some weird Unity games on New 3DS, in addition to whatever sort of portable Splatoon that they pretty much have to be working on. Atlus sales and Hyrule Warriors Lite will eat up a lot of time on the portable as well.
I'd also REALLY like to hear about NX sooner rather than later. If I don't even know what it is before E3, I will have completely lost my mind.

Re: Talking Point: 2015 - A Peculiar Year of New, Old and Surprising Nintendo Games

The big Wii U games that I wanted (Kirby, Splatoon, Yoshi, XCX) have all fallen at the right times and many of the Wii U's indie offerings have been to my liking, so I've been good there. Plenty to play on the TV for me this year.
Majora's Mask was the only retail 3DS game that I've bought this year, but there have been tons of indies there as well. However, the real boon to my New 3DS' play time was that I finally got into both the SMT and Etrian series this year. So, in a way, it was really Atlus that kept me from buying a Vita at any point in 2015. Regardless, my 3DS gaming has also been plentiful and very fulfilling this year.

Great read. These guys deserve all of the success in the world for the amount of heart that they put into that damned game. My niece and I play the game almost daily and I'd say it is probably her favorite game ever. I do often worry that maybe it didn't get the sales that it deserved because the online has really fallen off and I can rarely get a match anymore. Which sucks, because the random online matches were some of the most crazy and manic fun that I've ever had with a video game.
I'm a also VERY interested in whatever the incoming Runbow content is. I'll gladly pay for it, if they're selling, because I certainly have gotten way more than my money's worth from the core game.

Re: Editorial: Xenoblade Chronicles X Has Tiny Text - Time for an Update?

Stude

It is a very small (haha) issue for me. Like, I didn't think about it all until it was brought up here. But now that you mention it, I can see (haha) the issue. I'm totally okay with the in-the-field UI but there are some times when the small text is just completely unnecessary. When looking at the quest board, for instance, the screen does not need to remain uncluttered at that moment so the tiny text just seems like an oversight more than a design choice.

Re: Terraria Still Planned for Wii U in 'Early 2016', as Greater Detail is Confirmed for 3DS Version

Stude

I was hoping they'd do the same deal with the Wii U version as the 3DS. As in, release it on the eShop when it's done and then make a box later on for collectors. Honestly, I wish every game would do that. If I can't have a price break on digital games then I'd at least like to just get it when it is finished instead of waiting for some factory to manufacture a disk (or cartridge, as it were). Too much to ask?

Re: Microsoft Gets Cute About Possible Rare Replay Release On Wii U

Stude

There are maybe a dozen people who bought an Xbone for this game alone so I can't see that a port would be a bad idea for MS/Rare. The X360 remasters would obviously not make the jump, but I feel that this collection would sell very well on Wii U.
That said, having this on Wii U at a reasonable price would completely shatter the presumed value of and pricing model for Nintendo's own VC games. So, yeah. Not gonna happen.

Re: Jools Watsham Explains Why his Latest Game Didn't Release on Nintendo Platforms

Stude

They pumped out 2 remasters of games that were not too popular in the first place instead of focusing on the brand new game that everyone seemed genuinely excited for, Treasurenauts. As for Xeodrifter, that game was fantastic, scratched a Metroid itch for a lot of people and was heavily featured on the eShop so I have no clue how it didn't sell.
Also, buy Bomb Monkey if you don't have it.

Re: Review: Kirby: Power Paintbrush (Wii U eShop / DS)

I also have a theory that even though there is no sort of timeline to the Kirby games that this would have to be the very last one, chronologically. Between the twisted versions of the classic Kirby tunes and the antiquated looking footage of old Kirby dances that play on the top screen during mini-games, this feels like it takes place in a post-apocalyptic Dream Land.

Re: Review: Kirby: Power Paintbrush (Wii U eShop / DS)

For me, this is the best Kirby spin-off game. The art is beautiful, the music is beautiful. The gameplay is actually fairly taxing until you get the hang of it, which is a rarity in a series that is usually known for ease of play. I loved every second of this game when it was new and I've gone back and played it to completion at least a half dozen times. An easy 8 for me and I REALLY hope that we get this and Mass Attack on VC in North America soon. I'd rather have those two than the DS Zelda games, honestly.
