If these had at least one full game on a cartridge that you could play without downloads, I'd have bought all three. This "we'll put part of each game on the card" is just ill-conceived idiocy.
I'll probably just get Bioshock instead of all three as I've been waiting to play that again and wanted it for the switch.
I’d prefer to see games developed to the Switch’s strengths rather than consistently trying to port AAA games from other platforms, but I’ll certainly take some solid ports of older gen titles.
Playing the Witcher on the Switch is a revelation if played in portable mode, as is Skyrim and Assassins Creed Rebel collection. Give me Mass Effect and Fallout in 2020!!
@JayJ I totally agree! I'd go with the European box art if it wasn't for the clash between the cartoon megaman characters and Kazuya Mishima in the background...
This is a great game, I really enjoyed it. The mixture of planet and space battles is really good fun. I was sad it didn't do better...but the Toys were definitely a mistake
I think that developing to the strengths of the system (like Breath of the wild) is a different thing to porting something made for a different system to the switch.
With the former, devs can make the design and the style work on the hardware...with the latter, you’re always talking about the compromises necessary.
We just need some more games built from the ground up for the Switch.
1. Metroid Trilogy...for the love of god just release it already! 2. F-Zero...it is time. 3. Any Zelda or Mario remasters. Preferably all of them. 4. SNES or (dare we hope) Gamecube games
While it might take inspiration from (or steal large chunks of) some big name properties such as Zelda or God of War, it does it very well, and there's not much like ti on the switch. I can't wait to play this again and I'm hoping that that the sequel will follow suit.
I hope this will be a but of a lesson for all dev teams porting to the switch.
Personally, I'd prefer a racing game that skimped on the flashy details and focused on the framerate and general performance...framerate and smooth gameplay is too important for a racer.
Xenon reeks of a game that was made for more powerful platforms and clumsily ported rather than built with the Switch in mind...it's the only reason I can think that it can look so much worse than Fast RMX (or even GameCube F-Zero!) and yet still run this poorly.
I'd really like to see some racers developed from the ground up just for the Switch.
@Leuke You make a really good point. In the UK, prices for a new game have generally hovered around £40-£45 since the days of the NES. Some could argue that this should mean prices go up... especially given the insane amount of time that goes into a game nowadays...
I support LRG now they've moved to a pre-order model for switch games and you know you can get a copy if you want one.
I did try to collect their vita stuff though and lost out so many times to games selling out while you even got the "buy" option on your screen...only to appear on Ebay seconds later for a small fortune. I vowed never again.
Sad another company has popped up feeding the eBay scalper beast.
Re-releases is not a Switch only issue....this from someone who has just bought Castlevania Symphony of the Night for the 5th time and console, and Skyrim for seemingly the bazillionth (VR Skyrim!)
Overall I'm really happy with the mix of new releases and ports on the Switch, I think that it has a really healthy library.
Dead Cells was one of my favourite games this year, I couldn't stop playing it.
Currently making my way through Iconoclasts and having a good time, whereas I gave up on Hollowknight because I just can't face any more joyless backtracking...
Dead Cells is the game I had the most fun with this year.
Surprisingly, Starlink is right up there too. I loved that game way more than I thought I would.
Also surprisingly, I haaaaaaaaaate Celeste! I wish I could love it like everyone else does, but it is just a hateful, joyless grind (its not the difficulty...I've completed Super Meat Boy...it's just missing that spark for me that makes it worth persevering).
I love these games, but very few managed to make it to a western conversion. I’m not getting too excited until they announce it for the US and Europe...
I didn’t really bother with the toys, but the game was surprisingly awesome. I’d really recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of a starfox/no mans sky mashup. I put more than 40 hours into this one.
I was a bit on the fence with this one, but am totally sucked in now, it's great!
I play mostly in handhld mode and find the game smooth and enjoyable. In fact it's technically very impressive, particularly transitioning from a planet to space and vice versa. The open world feel to it is really impressive.
I'm totally happy with this as a filler until a true Starfox game comes out, and I do hope that Starfox takes some of the elements of this, like the open world mechanic.
@Silkyinsect_UK yeah, I love the aesthetic of Edge...but the quality of the writing was atrocious, they wanted so badly to be high-brow that so many features became a tedious exercise in translating pretentious drivel
Why the hell do massive coloured skulls pop out every time she does anything? It completely obscures the character and makes it hard to see what is going on!
I'm still sceptical of the fully digital future, but I'm not normally suckered into special editions.
Capcom beat em ups hold a special place in my heart though...and I've loved them ever since nagging my mum for 20p for just one go if we ever saw an arcade machine. I recently bought myself an arcade machine (...sold a kidney...) just so I could recapture that feeling, the only games I play are the capcom games.
As much as Capcom doesn't seem to care about their UK fans, I just can't pass up the special edition in this case...some of these games I lusted after in my youth. The collectors edition is already appearing on eBAY for more than £200.
No surprises here. Their plan re optimisation sounds like a good one, but this is one option.
What about changing the graphical style of games, such as keeping the fundamental game but introducing cell shaded graphics to reduce the strain on the Switch etc. There are artistic choices that could be made too, rather than just tinkering at the edges.
It’s more work sure, and risks annoying the hardcore fans, but I wish some developers would be a bit more bold in addressing the Switch’s limitations relative to PS4/Xbox One
I really enjoyed Doom on my PC, silky smooth 4k carnage was awesome.
However, I played Doom more on my Switch on the go, it got me through many a bored train or plane trip, and the drop to 30fps was noticeable, but quickly forgotten. I can't wait for the sequel!

@Alucard83 If you don’t support publishers releasing games for the Switch...why are you here?! For the retro stuff?
Re: EA Is Bringing Seven Games To Nintendo Switch Over The Next 12 Months
@NullPointerExcep Mirrors Edge would be so awesome. Both games are fantastic, and don’t get enough love.

The US one is...poor.
Great game through
Re: Review: Ori And The Blind Forest: Definitive Edition - An Unmissable Experience

I love this game so much, am happily playing it through for the 6th time, it’s superb.
Re: Forget About A Celeste Sequel, It Probably Won't Happen
Oh no. That’s...terrible. No more Celeste...because the first one was so great...
(Yeah, so I hated Celeste...)

Re: The Physical Version Of Spyro Reignited Trilogy On Switch Will Require A Sizable Download
Oh good grief. Why not make the game £5 more expensive and actually include it in the goddamn cartridge?!
Re: Deals: Starlink: Battle For Atlas Starter Pack Drops To A Ridiculous £9.99 In The UK

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #2 - Contra / Probotector
I’m going with the European art. The knock-off arnies and the “borrowed” Geiger alien are super cheesy!

The PAL SNES one is my dream Switch Lite...(drools slightly)

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About The Metroid Prime 4 Delay?
I'm pleased both to have Retro back on the title and that Nintendo was uncharacteristically open about it.
Like others have said though, getting the metroid trilogy port to tide us over would be the best way to cushion this blow...
Re: Dead Cells Sold More Than 100,000 Copies In Its First Week On Nintendo Switch
Dead Cells is incredible. I found it ridiculously hard at first, but something kept me going...then I couldn't stop playing it for weeks.
Definitely one of my favourite games of last year, and I'm thrilled at the Motion Twin's success.
Re: Bravely Default Twitter Account Confirms A New Game Is In Development

Why not just bring a proper Dead or Alive game to the switch...even a port of the 3DS game would be better than this!

Grumble.
