Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Journeys Is Like The Original Series, But 151 Times Better

Yeah, it's pretty good, it's nice that Ash and Goh show different approaches and the format which basically makes it about all the Pokemon generations rather than being focused on a single region like before.
Team Rocket having random pokemon also allows the writers to shove as many of the little buggers into the show as they want.
My only complaint is no Hop, but I guess Goh kind of takes over his role.

Re: Rumour: Could Square Enix's Latest ROM Takedowns Mean The Return Of Chrono Trigger?

@jamesthemagi Additional content for a classic, legendary game usually looks like hubris. And when it's bad it sours the experience.
Although that's not as bad as removing original content because it's "problematic" or other such nonsense. The only improvements should be to graphics, sound and UI (Monkey Island remakes are pretty good examples of how one should go about remaking classics).

Re: 'Poland's Asterix' Is Getting A Switch-Exclusive Game, Written By A Former CD Projekt RED Staffer

Ok, I will shed some light on the Asterix controversy. Originally it was a sci fi comic series about modern day sailors (and part time astronauts) called "Kajtek I Koko" and that version predates Asterix. However the medieval Slav spinoff that became more popular debuted after Asterix and the author may have been lying about not knowing the French series. At any rate the comic is still much less popular than the Gauls' adventures.
The Netflix series is pretty rough, has good ideas but shows lack of experience. As for the world itself, it really is similar to Asterix, but with more magic (no strength potions, but witches, dragons, magic weapons and shapeshifters) and a consistent cast of villains.

Re: YouTube Is Hiding The Dislike Count, Good News For Switch Online's Video Team

More like "pretend big corporations don't embarass themselves regularly". YouTube stopped caring about creators a long time ago and those huge dislike to like ratios are usually accrued by video game trailers, movie trailers or those creepy videos about the pandemic being "a great opportunity" for "a great reset" created by people who probably have butt-wiping robots and think everyone has those too.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Retire The Phrase 'Lazy Devs' Already?

SmaggTheSmug

Let's be honest though: the remakes and remaster are lazy. That's why they're given to interns or inexperienced studios, because they're (in theory) easy to do. For the most part no design aside from audio-visual one is required. Maybe some little change or small amount of content here and there but the hardest parts are already done. And yet so many times the inexperienced or out of touch devs still manage to mess it up. With the Pokemon remakes apparently mandatory exp share breaks the game balance.

Also as a former QA let me tell you: a lot of devs absolutely are lazy.
