From the trailer i think the gameplay looks fantastic. The game mechanics and weapon system seem to be unique and inventive. The boss designs are wonderful and appear to be very challenging. The visuals in my opinion are well animated and are for the most part pleasant to look at.
I think people should check out the trailer. If anything you will see the 'fun' potential of gameplay. I certainly look forward to playing it should it all come together well.
I am so sad that we won't be getting Metroid Prime 4 this year. But i am so much more upset for all the people that were working hard on this game for years, unable to make it work.
Knowing that Retro will be on board now is a great consolation.
Hey maybe in a decade or so development footage of the scrapped game will leak, they're always interesting to see. Silver linings.
But Nintendo needs that direct soon, more than ever.
Pachter couldn't be more off the ball here. I cannot fathom why nintendo would take away the ability to switch between home gaming and portable gaming, the concept is in the name of the product. Also fixing the joy cons to the switch at the same time seems silly. Unless they pack it in with another controller. Nintendo has used the on the go gaming and easy to pick up local multiplayer a massive pillar of their advertising efforts for switch. Just my 2 cents.
@tourjeff if you don't press any button on the first screen before the menu, a tutorial video plays. It just explains the basic inputs. There is a tip menu too in the vault i think.
This is my first smash game and i think it's amazing. One of the best games i have played in a long time, i don't usually play fighters.
I understand what you mean about finding some aspects confusing, thats how i felt about previous instalments, the ones i demoed felt hectic and overwhelming, so much so i skipped them thinking i would never learn to be good/compete.
Combat looks slow and unthreatening. The enemy ai seems really dense.
Art style is pretty generic.
The protagonist is dull.
Some characters/locations look interesting though.
Needs a lot of work if that underwhelming trailer is anything to go by.
Hope the developers polish it into something great.
@OctoInk20 your one friend on discord isnt a great source of evidence. If 90% of japanese players were cheating there would have been an article on it. The splatfest would have been unplayable.
To suggest cheating was confined to one country and specifically one side is ludicrous.
I played japanese players. I witnessed no cheating. If there was cheating it would have affected both sides and it would have very little influence on the score.
@OctoInk20 i was Team Octoling and i didn't witness this. Also even if it did happen it wouldn't be exclusive to one side. I didn't run into it from either team, I'm a good player yet i lost more matches than i won. Team squid was just better overall.
Having a splatfest open to the world is inclusive and a great idea. No need to be a sour squid about it.
@SBandy I was thinking the same thing. "Why does this article make it sound like a surprising revelation if it was thoroughly played for review by this site?"
@sixrings nobody said you were cheap. And nobody said opposing it was irrational.
I simply said I, that is me, find it to be inexpensive and worth the asking price. And i don't have a problem with it.
Also you don't need to tell me to listen, i was listening and responding with respect. You don't need to list everything you own as if i was questioning your status as a nintendo fan, you were the only one that mentioned nintendo loyalists, lol.
And you are voicing your opinion without being personally attacked. Disagreeing with someone doesn't equate to being victimised.
This conversation has derailed, Have a nice day.
@sixrings the waluigi hate campaign is shameful. So if that's what you want it shows bad character.
Its been apparent for a long time that Masahiro Sakurai poors his mind, body and soul into his games, to the point that it jeopardises his health.
The people who throw their toys out of their pram over a character not making the cut don't understand how much time and effort goes into designing a moveset, balancing a character against 40 others, the modelling, the feasibility and everything else. The man literally makes himself sick trying to please fans. Yet it's never enough. You got Ridley.....but no now we have to have waluigi or we riot.
Back on topic i imagine the costs will go into improving everything you just mentioned.
Also i don't think anyone is thanking nintendo for the extra cost.
@sixrings personally i find the switch to be far more stable. I'm rarely disconnected from matches. Also the wii u had a smaller audience and a smaller selection of games, many of which didn't have online features.
@Octane They're a business; they're not going to sell you something at cost price. I don't think it's expensive.
I do however think if they sell games like splatoon where the meat of the content is online they should bundle it with a 1 to 3 month free subscription period.
No matter what argument someone puts forward i can't see 40c a week being expensive. And like everyone else i don't want to pay for something that has always been free. It's just not a big deal (right now)
@sixrings yeah on other platforms which charge to use online features.
Mobile phones being an acception but the numerous in game ads fund that.
Again infrastructure needs to be built, staff need to be paid to create the features and maintain everything that the consumers are demanding need to be in their games because "its 2018 nintendo; everything needs to be online".
40c a week is not a lot considering.
@Lumine The money you pay for your internet connection goes straight to your internet provider. They don't give a portion of that to nintendo to build and maintain servers, to staff development teams to create online modes and features; nintendo has every right to charge for it.
Gamers are demanding more and more online features. They want every game to have competitive online modes, even mario party!! Implementing those modes and creating the infrastructure costs money.
You want the features. Pay for them. You don't want the features? Don't pay for them.
It works out as less than 40 cents a week....that is insanely cheap. Turn your lights off for an hour a day when not used. Put 20c less diesel in your car twice a week. Put one of those packs of biscuits back on a shelf once a month. Have one less topping on your pizza each week. Pay for an item with cash instead of your card twice a week and avoid the card charges.
Like if you can't cut 40c from your weekly budget to invest in this subscription how are you buying video games at all?.
I'm not being insensitive to people's circumstances. I'm just pointing out 40c a week isn't a lot for a well maintained online gaming environment with added perks. If someone can't scrape 40c together a week how can you even afford to play video games. shots fired
@Banjos_Backpack People aren't going to pick up there switch to play splatoon; see the netflix icon and suddenly decide to dive into adam sandlers new bargin bin movie.
People will play their switch. Play their games. Get tired of said game. Decide they want to watch a show. Instead of getting there phone out/laptop say "hey, it's on my switch; no need to unplug my phone to cast or grab my laptop".
It's a small convenience.
It won't be people's main way of watching youtube or netflix; and it won't take away from the games at all.
Watching netflix on the switch means the system is in the user's hands. They'll likely go back to playing video games after watching their shows.
Options are great.
E3 was the time for nintendo to show they had a stellar line up.
Why?
Because Wii U and it's killer draughts.
Because the amazing and diverse line up in the Switch's first year left people wondering how Nintendo could keep rolling out great first party games in 2018...
Because they didn't; the first half of 2018 was slow paced and focused on wii u ports. (Not everyone can or wants to buy games twice)
Because people needed to know that the last 6 months of 2018 would be better. That it would have a great first party line up that would cater to everyone. One with regular releases. We got smash bros.....looks beautiful but it's not for everyone. We got pokemon, not a main series game; a remake, with pokemon go mechanics, 151 pokemon in a region we've already explored. Looks great. But it doesnt have any longevity in terms of play time.
Because people needed games TO LOOK FORWARD TO; 2018 and beyond. Simply to hope and build hype. People don't mind seeing games still in development; it gives them something to look forward to. To talk about. To spread the word. To hope. To hype.
I am a disappointed fan. But this is how nintendo operates. They always have. I have no doubt that the switch will be ok though.
@Banjos_Backpack lol that's the most ridiculous piece of analysis i have read in a while.
People saying that they don't want streaming apps on their device so that it can remain solely a gaming device do not have to download these apps.
The people that want them should have the option.
It literally is only a positive proposition; because any negative can be eradicated by the individual not downloading them.
@bimmy-lee by beer i meant cider...so not beer haha. The "beer" will be used for nulling my disappointment. The ice cream will be used to flavour that disappointment.
@ryancraddock you know you could have just added an "s" to character as to not imply there was a definitive "best character" (because that is clickbait) but nice exhibtion of dramatics there xD
I remember playing the original so much with my mam and brother. I remember being in awe when it was revealed that plankton (?) was the mystery rider. In saying that i probably wouldnt pick this up despite the nostalgia.
I've thought about importing games from america before. But it can be quite expensive.
Is Amazon the way to go when importing from that side of the planet?
Also really crappy decision on capcoms part.
I feel quite bitter when stuff like this happens; often passing on purchasing the digital versions with the intent of someday importing a physical copy.
@Richard_Atkinson I would imagine it to be very different. Hopefully in many positive ways. I go to MNN for the quick turnaround of conscise and varied articles, a lot of smaller stories are reported there but not here.
