I'm feeling better about Federation Force after the Blast Ball demo. While I don't like Blast Ball itself, from the training tutorial the core game promises to be good.

As others have said, Super Metroid still holds up pretty well today. It's Metroid II that really needs a remake.

Plus, next year is Metroid II's 25th anniversary...

I really don't like that they're saying off the bat it'll be like Game of Thrones. Zelda is already its own story. It doesn't need to be like anything else.

Especially not Game of Thrones. It's nothing like Zelda - there's no great quest, no real clash between good and evil. It's all about the morally-ambiguous characters, the politics, and... all the stuff you're not going to see in a family show...

Lightning Rod would be a completely terrible and nonsensical ability for Mega Sceptile and I'm sure it gets something much cooler, like, I don't know, Ice Rod or Super Speed Boost.

Mega Swampert will of course get Sap Sipper, and Mega Blaziken's ability will be changed to Defeatist or something like that.

I'd hoped Mega Sceptile would be part Dragon! Does anyone know what ability it gets?

I for one think more games should be inspired by Animal Crossing.

I mean, can you imagine a zombie game in the style of Animal Crossing? You live in a little town with a few other people and you have lots of mundane tasks to do during the day, but at night the zombies come and you have to fight them! You could also travel to your friends' towns and help them fight zombies.

Wait... that should be an Animal Crossing game!

Why are they not on the 3DS? It makes no sense.

Well, it's certainly not hard to see the Metroid, uh, "inspiration".

However... it has been over a decade now since Samus got a nice side-scroller, and this does look pretty cool and atmospheric, and the developers seem to have added a few cool features of their own... Yeah, I think I can get behind this.
