@ATaco your forgetting how nintendo handled the psp & vita; they focused more on having games made rather than high end specs.
besides, this almost always happens. nintendo makes something and someone else makes an enhanced copy like the wii remotes and the playstation motion controller. that being said, i'm sure nintendo's lawyers are eying this thing up and down for a reason to send steam a C&D

i guess its because unless they shut down the eshop itself on the 3ds, theres always the option of adding funds either though your switch if the accounts are merged or online, last time i renewed it, it was though funds i had put directly on my switch. in any case, this one of the 2 main issues people had with bank when it first came out: 1, the pay wall 2, the eventuality that it would one day get discontinued and shut down one of pokemons main features: cross generation transport. up til then, aside from the original gameboy carts, there was always some official way to transport pokemon that was reliable, done from system to system and didn't require being bound to game freak &/or nintendo's whims

i can also see what the 2 main reasons for why gamefreak would shut off the prior generations like that.
1. the abundance of hacks, i mean just go into 6th gens gts and look for a vivillon and you'll see this idiocy:

its even worse on gen 7's gts as the hacked mons will either freeze your game or in this case of this one, your entire 3ds

2.) game freak has had a pattern of making every pokemon available for each generation from the generation prior for each console by the time of the final games for the console(excluding mythical and event only or version exclusive forms)
on the gba games you could get all the gen 3 and prior pokemon from between FR/LG/R/S/E/C/XD
you could get all the pokemon from gen 5 and prior between D/P/PT/HG/SS/B/W/B2/W2
you could get all the pokemon from gen 7 and prior between X/Y/OR/AS/S/M/US/UM
so by once gen 9 starts, you will most likely be able to get all pokemon from it's games and prior switch games onto home

my issues after playing it for over 10 hrs(that i will never get back) is 1.) movement speed, most of the time is spent just running around
2.) evolving over time and though battle, if you keep getting jumped you don't power up you tend to become a hindrance later on in each match
3.) other people
4.) holowear, from what i can tell there seems to be no way to get them as a f2p
as for whales, their a bit of dice roll. sometimes you get a team of em, sometimes others do. seems best to avoid them for the most part if you can.
you also at least get something from loosing and can still use the pokemon of anyone who disconnects or rage quits.
regardless, in about a year this game will most likely be filtered down to just whales and f2ps who spent to much of their lives on it

@moodycat the yugioh ocg/tcg struggles with any semblance of game balance, part of the reasons why rule changes, the ban list & rush duels are a thing. more broken cards get made adding to the power creep and theres always those that push any limit that they can.

@moodycat link summoning was mostly just to rein in pendulums which had broke the game balance way to much, which is saying something given how little game balance there is in the tcg/ocg to begin with

at the very least i will get that free zeraora.
regardless, this is something i'll never install onto a phone

rip pokebank and any connectivity between 8gen games and every other gens games.

edit: something else i forgot to mention about the magearna in volcanion and the mechanical marvel, namely the original color form magearna being showed in the flashback. while the data for it might have been in the 7th gen games, the form itself didn't end up in the games until the 8th generation as a gift for completing the national dex in home making it a bit more of an 8th gen form then a 7th gen form kinda like how the punctuation unown are more 4th gen then 2ed gen

@Footloose well, the "stability" updates are normally just them trying to catch people with custom filmware the details of which they don't give to the public because they don't want to make it easy for the hackers. this time around they seem to have changed the master key so the hackers have yet to get all the details as far as i'm aware but will do so eventually as that is the nature of the tug of war with the big 3 video game company's on one end and homebrewers & pirates on the other.

well, my switch may not be homebrewed, but i'm still going to wait about a week to see what bugs show up

@SwitchVogel i guess they got rid of him because of netflix, couldn't find someone better & willing that wouldn't make half the fanbases ear's bleed and was forced to bring him back.
or this was all some huge paperwork ***** up in the middle of the corporate shuffle

i wonder if the devs are underestimating the hell out of the loz fanbase or if they where expecting this type of insanity...
either way, they don't seem to bother that much with glitches that are not game breaking and things are better for it

@Justaguest i guess their doubling down on his being based on kitsunes which in myth, tend to get more tails the older, wiser and more powerful they get which it tending to be like 1 tail per century with the 9th one being after 1 millennia.
now that i think about it, i don't think we've ever seen a version of tails that has even got past 50 and most versions of him tend to be 4-11 so i guess its possible this could be a 1000 year old version of tails.

or lack there of.

on one had it tends to be wrong to break laws as their supposed to be their for everyone's sake, safety and stability.
on the other hand, humans are flawed creatures so we end up with laws that should not exist and more than a few of which make things worse rather than better.

@thenewguy well, i managed to get it fixed since i made that comment. i purged the cache, completely shut down the switch and turned it back on and then changed the dns to googles (primary 8.8.8.8 secondarily 8.8.4.4)
though others have not had as easy of a time fixing it.
kind of ironic that an update meant to increase stability did the opposite, guess this is what happens when you put to much into stopping the hackers who will not be stopped; only hindered.

@Kaori-chan indeed, the charging people thing is the main issue here. while i don't mind rom sites and fan made games(which are pretty much just interactive fan fiction) as much as most here do to the point that there are those bickering about it as i type this out... i can see trying to make a profit off of them was just idiotic. especially given the fact that other sites just give the roms out for free and how C&D happy nintendo's lawyers are. about the only place immune from them is pirate bay, given that both the disney overlords and the feds have targeted that site and ultimately failed to get rid of it.

he also referred to himself as bread a lot... regardless, this whole thing was pretty messed up given that most of the ones he gave this speech to where following him around for what was essentially a false promise of free food.

@Max_the_German its not just that the gaming was different, but the pokemon fan base has grown since then, despite gamefreak and the animes writers...
we got people who grew up with pokemon raising their kids with it, then you have the constant population increase to attribute to it. we have somewhere over 48 million more people living in the us these days than we did when snap first came out, pokemon go dragged even people who hate pokemon into the fan base and there various other reasons why the fan base has increased. theres also that inevitable portion of new pokemon snap players that have never played a pokemon game before as well.

30$ to get the dlc that makes the game almost worth 60$
5$ for pokebank
16$ for pokemon home
and another 20$ for the stuff locked off behind switch online

@UltimateOtaku91thats because the ones that complaining where busy complaining about everything else about it, its a glorified spin-off and people where more hyped up and waiting for the actual main series switch games and most saw it for the cash grab that it was.
so if anything, lets go's half-assedness just helped to raise the hype for a better game only to make the hate & disappointment for swsh worse.

i wonder if this means creatures is going to start making their own pokemon rumble games. they haven't developed a game since detective pikachu and i wish they'd make more pokemon ranger games, its been over a decade since guardian signs...

@Ultrasmiles not everyone has time &/or patience for that.
pokemon also suffers from something many rpgs do: needless grind. i said it before & i'll say it again: this hacking issue could of been slowed down by
1) they make all evs/ivs/movesets easily interchangeable in the game. they should just take pokehex and put it into the game but as something that has to be unlocked by beating the game.
2) they should stop with the event/paywall only pokemon nonsense and shiny locking things so they can't be shiny in game and up the encounter rate to 1/10
this would eliminate most of the needless grind that has caused this mess for years and subsequently render save mods obsolete, outside of just people messing around with mods in ways that are not meant to cheat.
