In a special Yu-Gi-Oh! stream, Konami has today unveiled plenty of news surrounding upcoming games based on the franchise, including a couple which are headed to Switch.
Perhaps the biggest news from the stream is the announcement of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, which offers up a new digital take on the hugely successful trading card game. It'll be launching worldwide on Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and mobile, and is said to be "the most complete Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG digital title yet":
"Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL lets players old and new enjoy the hugely popular Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) in digital form. Players across the globe can compete in intense collectible card Duels, both thrilling to play and watch. Unlike other Yu-Gi-Oh! titles that have featured the manga and anime, Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL is fully positioned around the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, and it promises to be the most complete Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG digital title yet."
Elsewhere, Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel has also been given a western release window, arriving in the Americas and Europe "this autumn". Rush Duel is already confirmed for a Japanese launch next month, so it's nice to get confirmation that its localisation isn't too far behind.
The stream also revealed the existence of Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel, a new project planned for release on Android and iOS. Cross Duel supposedly "changes the game with dramatic four-player Dueling action".
You can relive the whole stream below.
Are you hyped to see all of this Yu-Gi-Oh! content hitting Switch? Looking forward to picking up these latest titles? Let us know in the usual place.

I hope for a nice physical edition with some cards inside
I'm legit surprised (and pleased) we're getting the Rush Duel game. Looking forward to it.
Is it just me or does the character design for this franchise keep getting worse and worse as the years go by?
I played Yu-Gi-Oh both virtually and real life until certain point of Arc-V, probably middle of it, so "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel game" looks like good game to return to play Yu-Gi-Oh!. I hope that game will have 7th Gen/Sevens cards too. Plus I wonder if my real cards still in good condition, because I know we still have them, but dunno where mom put them, so that part is worry some.
PS: I still watching all 7th generations of Anime: finished twice 5D's, nearly finished GX/Zexal/VRAINS, watched almost third of Arc-V and still need start watch original Yu-Gi-Oh!, because I only remember some episodes from time when my country TV showed Original and GX series. For Sevens I'm currently at 55 of 57 episodes that currently aired at this moment.
@Abeedo it just 7th Generation went into being kids show more then all ages show.
Interesting, I'll likely give it a try! Yu-Gi-Oh games are usually really good.
Looks every interesting. I might give it a try when it comes out. I do like yugioh so I might look in this
@moodycat Pendulum and Link Summoning are difficult to understand.
Easy ones are Fusion and XYZ. Fusion summoning you need a spell card unless says otherwise to fuse monsters. And in XYZ you just stack monsters from their levels. Synchro is a bit in middle. It’s not easy but it’s not too hard.
Wait
Is Master Duel F2P then? Because it is coming out on mobile too.
Or maybe you pay for console versions
@moodycat I started with Fusion and then to XYZ and then to Synchro. Pendulum is too hard for me and really excessive too.
I use Blue Eyes White Dragon as my main deck. I am also looking to make a Zombie/Fiend deck with maybe a couple Machine cards to help
Looks interesting...but I really wish they'd properly support Link Evolution more. The thing is still rather unstable (not just the switch version either, they're pretty much all a mess, though the switch version is slightly more crash-happy), and they didn't bother updating much of anything after about a year or so.
Yeah yeah, it's already an update to Legacy of the Duelist, but at least make the thing run reliably!
@EmmatheBest yeah. I hope Master Duel runs well on Switch but I don't think it should be difficult for the Switch to run as the game is coming to mobile devices and last gen consoles. I will like to get Master Duel on Switch or maybe on PC when I build my gaming PC.
Master Duel blew me away. Its Yugioh at Next Level
@Abeedo The character design was alright for series 1-6, but 7 onwards isn’t great, given that they changed markets and studios. They started targeting kids are the primary market, and left the old market behind. It’s sad too, given that most Yugioh anime was originally pretty dark for what it was.
@VoidofLight I've noticed that to be a growing trend with many classic 90s anime. Shows like Pokemon, Beyblades, and Yu Gi Oh seem to be focussing on appealing to younger children, and as a result leaving older fans behind. I feel like they overlook the fact that the reason we got into these shows in the first place was because of their cooler and edgier (in a good sense) designs.
@Abeedo Personally, I feel like Yu-Gi-Oh kind of lost what it was supposed to be by Zexal. The original Manga and anime were pretty good honestly, but then Zexal and Arc-V came along, and it just started being "People playing card games dramatically", instead of "These card games are just a vessel for dark magic that will mentally screw you up."
Very excited for Master Duel.
@moodycat link summoning was mostly just to rein in pendulums which had broke the game balance way to much, which is saying something given how little game balance there is in the tcg/ocg to begin with
@moodycat the yugioh ocg/tcg struggles with any semblance of game balance, part of the reasons why rule changes, the ban list & rush duels are a thing. more broken cards get made adding to the power creep and theres always those that push any limit that they can.
I tried out Legacy of the Duelist before. I might like the old characters and the TCG itself, but it was this one game was straight up boring.
Hopefully that one of more pepped up
