I wonder why they don’t bring back their older catalogue of games like Lagoon on SNES that were much better than recent releases.
I’m gonna be honest, I’ve never heard of a single one of those games.
@nessisonett Well... These were shovelware on iOS, so most people have steered well clear on Switch.
Not gonna lie, even if they were 100% off I still wouldn't download any of them.
I actually did try Monster Viator and Marenian Tavern Story: Patty and the Hungry God, both aren't that bad. Sure they are not triple A or Square Enix quality RPGs but both are actually very good to play for a while if you're waiting for other RPGs to come out like Bravely Default II, Shin Megami Tensei V, Trails of Cold Steel IV, and Ys IX.
As much hate as Kemco stuff seems to get, I'd like to point out one exception on this list: Marenian Tavern Story: Patty and the Hungry God.
It's a spiritual successor to Adventure Bar Story, which was developed by RideOn and published by Kemco. Adventure Bar series was one of the shining exceptions among all the budget RPGs, bringing the kind of comfy vibes and quality not present in the other games. If you still play your 3DS and haven't bought either Adventure Bar Story or Adventure Labyrinth Story, I'd highly recommend giving them a shot since right now they're both only... oh, the sale ended last week. They were available both for under 2€, which would have been absolute steals for games of that level of care put into them.
But yeah, if anything above piqued your interest, try giving Patty a shot.
This is the happiest day of my life wipes sarcastic tears of joys away
Kemco rpgs always looked so generic, but I'm sure they have their fans. It might be fun to trudge through them to see what they're all about, but I've been playing so many more well-regarded RPGs as of late such as Xenoblade, so my time is being used already. :/
Meanwhile, over on the 3DS e-shop, Etrian Odyssey V and Nexus, plus Radiant Historia are all £8.99
I’ve read the reviews and most of them have good things to say about Marenian Tavern Story. I was just waiting for a sale o.o
Kemco = Top Gear comes to mind!😊
I think I have only heard of 2 of those games....
Why do i read monster viator as monster violator 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man o man lol.
But serious i wont buy any of them.
Oh cool, so how much will Kemco pay us to play this rubbish? Oh- you mean we still have to pay them?
Besides Marenian Tavern Story, I thought Asdivine Hearts was pretty good. It’s nothing mind-blowing, but I liked the customization system, and it was fun enough for me to put in ~30 hours to see the true endings.
I always find myself browsing their games on mobile... And sometimes buying them. The sales on mobile are much steeper, and a lot of their games have a free with ads version in addition to premium. Anyway, point is - they aren't amazing. However, they are made by different studios, so it is a disservice to just say "ah Kemco." I think one of the studios is directly owned by them? But otherwise they are a publisher. And some of these games are pretty decent. Monochrome Order is actually fairly ambitious for them, and I'd recommend it. Most of this particular crop up here is rated fairly high on the Play store, which is saying something in an ecosystem were people tend to either leave a 5, or a 1 if they have literally any complaint. I've seen people leave 1's "until they make new content or a sequel," so if a game is holding a 4.4 out of 5 it is doing alright.
Chronus Arc is my fave of the Kemco games I’ve played to date. I played through it on 3DS and then got it again on Switch as part of the Kemco RPG Omnibus physical release. Worth a shot if it goes on sale.
