This might be a stupid question but I have to wonder: if it spoils a certain character, why exactly are you highlighting said spoiler and increase the reach of said spoiler? Not everything needs to be a news article. ^^
@Filthy this is the crazy things. They could at least have bundled them all together. It other companies can manage to give us a launcher where we can pick the version we want to play them the pokemon company can do so too 😅
@rallydefault sadly the hate mob doesn't need a reason to hate Nintendo. Even if Nintendo would remove game key cards and lower the price of the s2 people would get mad. 💀
"SEE! THEY COULD DO IT FROM THE BEGINNING! THEY SCREWED YOU OVER!? DIE NINTENDO" some would scream. Kinda annoyed by all the negativity nowadays.
Nope. Never. These new colors are completely pointless. All you see of them during normal play is just the small ring around the sticks. Heck, on my current set I sometimes forget that they even have colors. So no, unless Nintendo releases true full colored joycons I want go out of my way to purchase a new set.
The fact that it currently can be compared to the other consoles is crazy for such a small, low powered system. The Switch 1 was never able to do that at all. Pretty impressed. And due to crazy things like the ram price hikes etc. the S2 might become viable for a long time. If developers want people to play their games they have to optimize them now (like Larian has to do with Divinity). They can't rely on beefer hardware anymore because no one can buy it.
@Kilamanjaro
Waiting one year wouldn't have changed anything. Heck, it would have just make everything more difficult thanks to the AI boom and it's impact on PC component availability
@Dang_69 true. To be honest Nintendo should simply make more sizes available and maybe, just maybe, eat some of their costs. When a game costs 70€ etc it should always be fully on the cartridge but sadly Steam showed everybody that downloading games is fine.
This game will never ever flop. It's Dragon Quest Builders + Animal Crossing + POKEMON (the most successful franchise) combined into one product. This will sell good. It's a no brainer.
@TerribleTerabytes I'm surprised they can only manage 30fps while locked to 1080. 60 or 40 would be nicer but I'm sure I will manage. Old eyes + growing up with a N64 were everything ran below 30 makes one resilient. BUT I demand a stable 30fps xD
@Dang_69 that's all true but it's quite clear where we're headed. The fact that you have to buy a disk drive for the ps5pro and all the other small step each vendor is taking points towards a future were it's going to get more and more difficult to buy physical media. All we can really do is hope Japan doesn't change their mind because Japanese people seem to dislike digital only more than we do in the west.
Oh and don't get me wrong, I hate digital only but I also wanna play the games I'm interested in on the platform I own. So I have to bite the bullet from time to time. 😭
@the_beaver never that's why I'm quite happy with the 3rd party support we got already. Heck, I'm still eating good with cyberpunk, dynasty warriors and assassin's creed xD Don't know how and when I can play all these great games
@Dang_69 not only the Switch 2. PlayStation and Xbox began that slow death with the PS3 and 360. Wanna play a game, install it to your HDD and download day one patches because otherwise the game won't run. And nowadays: Sony going around, stripping the Blu-ray player from their console and making you pay for it, while Microsoft straight up sells a digital only console. Physical media died a long time ago. On PC it's dead for 15 years or something like that.
@all: And boycotting digital only games won't help at all. All you guys are doing is preventing yourself from playing these games. Hell, most indie games are digital only. I'm sad too about losing physical media but the reality is that it's going away and won't come back just because a small minority like us is boycotting these releases.
Played this game when it was a mobile game and I hated it. It was so bland and boring and it still looks incredible boring and bland. Can't say I'm hyped to see this game again. XD
@AlonditeFE getting games on a Steam Deck is far easier since a dev doesn't really need to do any extra work. To get it over on S2 they need to develop a S2 version and release it on the eShop. The Steam Deck simply profits from the fact that most PC games releases on Steam.
@johnedwin maybe epic can use some of their money to fix their wonky engine. Still don't get why anyone would use Unreal Engine because it really isn't anything good
Have this game on Xbox but will get it for the Switch 2. As a parent playing games on TV is a no go. Especially long JRPGs. So I will definitely get it again. And because I already had to get it digitally for my Series S I won't cry about it being a key card release. That won't stop me from finally truly playing this game. 😎
@rjejr not gonna happen. I for one will never buy a Sony console. If I wanted to own a console to collect dust, I might, but I like to use my hardware and I wouldn't buy anything from a company that releases bad products (Portal), isn't capable to produce good games once in a while, would love to double down on terrible business decisions like Concord and feels the need to release a pro console even though the base console hasn't even hit it's limit. Would always go for the Switch 2. Especially when portability comes into play. And the SD card space is also not a good argument because buying suitable SSDs isn't cheap either and Sony is also just waiting to kill off physical media.
@johnedwin Claire Obscure needs more time. The devs have just begun thinking about porting the game. Elden Ring was a mess and might need more time. Duskblood will most definitely be shown at a normal Nintendo direct and Kingdom Hearts for switch 2 won't release before KH4. Just wait for KH4 and we might get a KH complete edition for S2 and PS5.
@AlonditeFE
What are you talking about? The current 3rd party support just a few months after the console's release is miles better than it ever was. Switch1 in comparison was a dumpster fire xD
For a PARTNER direct this was quite a show. We're getting a lot of nice games. Some ports, some new titles. And they all looked quite nice. Oh and there also should be something for everybody. So objectively I would give the direct a 9/10. Compared to the Switch 1 we're eating a lot better when it comes to 3rd party support.
Wow, I get being mad at Nintendo in general but it's impossible to blame them for everything. This is 100% on AdHoc. They wanted to release the game in Japan where they had to censor it. And instead of creating two versions, they simply shipped the censored one to everybody. That was their decision. It was also their decision to not disclose the fact that the game is going to be censored. Stop being mad at Nintendo for a dev that can't communicate with their fans. And the excuse, that they are an indie also doesn't count because on PS5 they easily managed to create a censored version for Japan and an uncensored one for the rest of the world. They simply didn't want to do it and are now shifting the blame unto Nintendo.
@Anti-Matter so you want to get rid of its core identity? Why? Just play DQ Builders or Minecraft instead of wishing for change that would turn Animal Crossing into yet another boring slop cozy game.
@Alana Awww, awesome news! Wish you three all the best in the world and you two soon to be parents all the rest you will need. Trust me, if you can sleep, then sleep! The first six months I could only sleep for around 4 hours each night. ~_~ XD
I'd be surprised if Nintendo didn't release a "Switch 2 Lite" within the next few years. The current Switch 2 is simply too large and costly for many younger gamers. For example, I wouldn't trust my six-year-old daughter with such an expensive piece of technology; while kids that age excel at many things, careful handling of electronics isn't usually one of them! xD
@Anti-Matter wait what? No, you're not different. Not at all. You might sound a bit elitist but that's all. Nothing special - if all it's a bit charmless. But you do you. :3
I for one am having a blast playing Animal Crossing in 4K and can't wait what the future will bring for the next Animal Crossing game that's build from the ground up for the Switch 2. ^^
@Polvasti do you remember Fire Emblem Fates? Nintendo segmented the three routes into three distinct games, so yeah, by their logic Three Houses isn’t just one but four games. Which is silly. Having multiple routes or a lengthy playtime doesn’t magically turn a single game into multiple ones. xD But hey, the amount of content this game seems to have sounds incredible, regardless I don't believe I will play it anytime soon. Can't get behind the art style.
@Anti-Matter time-traveling doesn't increase how fast-paced the game is. You're still playing a game where you ran as fast as a snail. 60 fps might feel better but it is absolutely not necessary for a game like this. What's more important is a STABLE frame rate. Especially this game could run terrible on the og Switch if you used too many items. So this is a nice upgrade.
@boxyguy I’m with you. NH is a good game, but not necessarily a great Animal Crossing game. I really hope the next entry brings back better villagers. Oh, and more interactions! If I have to decorate a whole island/town, I want the villagers to actually interact with the items. If I put down a swing, let a villager actually swing on it! That's mostly all they would need to change. The graphics are already top-notch. Simply improve upon the villagers and maybe add more items and BRING BACK BUILDING UPGRADES and you've got the perfect Animal Crossing on your hand!
A stable 40fps would be perfect. It fits perfectly into a 120Hz refresh rate and feels much smoother than 30fps. Regardless, I just pre-ordered the game. I've been hooked on this series ever since I played it at a friend's house 25 years ago. The only thing I might dislike is the fact I can't play as a girl. >_< But hey, hot anime boy might be a nice pick too.
@Darknyht the console is what, seven months old? Relax. We will get new titles soon. Heck, the PS5 and Xbox are around 5 years and still don't really have any good games one needs to buy and play.
Oh and before I forget, since when has a gaming company released all their big system sellers in the first few months? Too my knowledge never. So just relax and be happy that no one is forcing you to buy things right now. XD
@Anti-Matter fantasy life has action elements in it! Animal Crossing is sloooooow. No one needs 60 fps in AC. What's more important is that it's a stable frame rate.
Please, can we stop saying bs like "now with the Switch 2 Nintendo is suddenly greedy and evil". Bollocks, Nintendo has been like this forever!
Back in the day we had to pay Nintendo so we could play our Wii virtual console games on the Wii U. At least on Switch 2 we can play Switch 1 games for free. If one doesn't wanna pay for an upgrade then don't do it. No one is forcing you to do so. Not even Nintendo and that's a slight improvement compared to their behavior in the past.
@BrintaPap bad take. It's quite possible that the animation / game speed is tied to the frame rate. In this case it won't be possible to simply increase the fps.
@dark_beer_alchemist yeah Hasbro sucks. I love MTG too and I hate a lot of their decisions concerning the game. And yeah, would love to play it on S2 too but oh well, guess I will concentrate on Divinity 2 and Cyberpunk xD
@AussieMcBucket I don't believe performance will be that much of an issue. Due to the increasing ram prices Larian already stated that they will have to optimize Divinity as much as possible because people won't be able to simply buy more ram etc.
This is no surprise. Hasbro and Larian have been on bad terms for a while. And I wouldn't hold out to see a port anytime soon. Larian doesn't own the rights to BG3 and Hasbro laid of the whole team at Wizard of the Coast that worked together with Larian on the game. The fact that BG3 even exists is a miracle. And Larian stated soon after release that they won't work on any project concerning BG in the future because Hasbro sucks.
