@nessisonett "Nintendo never cared about graphics"? When the it was n64 vs ps1 they did. Mario 64 vs ape escape made it obvious PlayStation couldn't compete. The market didn't care because Sony were cool (and CDs too!) and inferior graphics won. That's when Nintendo "stopped caring" because the vast majority of their customers don't care.

I see a lot of noise about this on Nintendo boards but Nintendo clearly think it's not a big enough problem to warrant a redesign.
I'd really like to see the real figures. Are Nintendo genuinely producing crap hardware for the first time ever or is switch just so popular even a tiny failure rate creates tons of noise?

My young child likes ryan it so it's ok. Saves me having to think about the ethical implications of exploiting kids.

The "Switch tax" is the reason to bring your game to switch.
If they don't like the idea of being able to charge up to fifty percent more for porting their games then they're not very good at business.

@Trvial could also show that games written with scalability in mind are portable and those that only cared about their original target devices aren't. If the requirement is just for xbone/ps4 and the Devs spend time making sure it's easy to port they could be out of a job if the customer paying for the development finds out. "I'm not paying you to make sure it can run on a phone!!"

A lot of commenters have this totally the wrong way round. The "switch tax" is the reason this port exists. If they couldn't charge sixty quid for it they'd never have even considered getting it running on switch.

@Nintendofan83 the game is free. The expensive bit is an optional quick character unlock. That's the same pricing model as a load of free to start games on switch.

If he's relatively trivial to get in the free game then what's the problem? If forty quid doesn't mean anything to you then you can buy the pack. If you're not that stupid with money then unlock him by playing.
If this was an exclusive thing then i could understand the vitriol. As it is I'm confused why people are upset with this. How impatient do you have to be to feel that this is extortion?

@sanderev so on what authority are you basing your statement that Ryan couldn't be more wrong? Do people working with addicts differentiate between chemical and behavioural addiction? Do you understand the internal chemistry of addictive behaviour, what hormones govern it?

@Zeldafan79 gaming is for everyone. If you have to pick your purchases carefully you get a much better appreciation of the games you do get.
I used to have an acquaintance who was into expensive hifi. Two valve amps in their rig, one for left and one for right, uni directional cables, all the expensive bits. Went round there one day and they said i could put something on. Not a single record in their collection that i wanted to hear. They had all the equipment but not a clue about music.
