Re: This Switch Carry Case Includes A Portable Battery For Storing And Charging On The Go

RennanNT

@Riderkicker just docks, chargers are as safe to Switch as they would be to any other USB-C device. And Nintendo won't fix anything for unlicensed products, the 3rd party have to re-engineer it to not brick.

They probably already did it long ago, but there will always be some doubt over Nintendo releasing another firmware upgrade which changes how things works, like the 5.0 (when the bricks started happening).

Re: Wii's Donkey Kong Country Returns Is Now Playable At 1080p And 60fps On Nvidia Shield

RennanNT

@LuciferOnReddit rudeness apart, because Android has more features, it also has multiple processes using the hardware even when you only have 1 open app, and it gets worse if you're multitasking.

Add to the fact it was made to run in thousand different hardware it is far from optimised. Windows (and Linux) suffer the same problem, you need a better PC in order to have similar performance to consoles.

EDIT: Just to illustrate, if you look for games made for PS3 on Steam, you will see the minimum requirements often being 4GB, 16x the PS3's 250mb. That's not because the game is using that much RAM, but because Windows itself uses most of it and the system will lag if you don't have it.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Switch Update Finally Fixes That Annoying Music Bug

RennanNT

@FullbringIchigo they are being consistent. Next time they rerelease these games (like PS5) you can bet they will add things not present in the Switch version and eventually that version will stop being the most complete version too. Same will probably happen with FF7R ports later as well.

It's basically the remaster culture without the remaster being generations apart.

Re: PlatinumGames Shares More Detail On Bayonetta 3's Unorthodox Development

RennanNT

Guys, they're talking about development process, not the game itself.

Probably, they had some decisions halfway through they either discarded or had to redo a lot of their work because the first levels were already completely done. For example, a change in history could need rescripting cutscenes, or changing her mobility could require changes in level design.

They're probably using their experience to finalize things which may suffer changes before doing the other things which would be affected by these changes.

Re: Nintendo Of America Deletes Tweet About The Gyms In Pokémon Sword And Shield

RennanNT

@molliolli182 I don't blame GF for playing it safe instead of trying to sell beyond their usual 15mi.

But it's depressing to see people incetivating them to do a low effort though. Even if the intent is to keep the core gameplay and formula intact, GF could absolutely do way better. They're absolutely not lacking on money and even in a case they can't hire top-tier devs, they can borrow from Nintendo studios (like BotW did). But wait for a game far from Switch limits, without standard features like free camera, missing features from previous pokemon games and still struggling to keep 30fps and still treated like GF is doing us a favor in selling their games.

Re: Nintendo Of America Deletes Tweet About The Gyms In Pokémon Sword And Shield

RennanNT

@Tsurii @molliolli182 yeah, it's not like we saw several different fandoms getting mad over forced motion controls in the past. It's not like even widely loved games like BotW and Odyssey received some criticism over it, despite it being just in minuscule and optional parts of the games...

And there's no way Gamefreak could do something people would not like. If they complained is because they don't want changes, in fact the complainers think gen 8 should be Sun HD, gen 9 Sun Full HD and gen 10 Sun 4K.

Re: Sakurai Reveals Why Kirby Was The Only One Who Survived The Smash Ultimate Apocalypse

RennanNT

I don't really care about it, but I don't see why he would go this far to justify it. People complaining about favoritism will continue to do so, and the vast majority of players will just chuckle at it.

I mean, it would be very simple to change how the attack work to fit with another character (for example, ROB being immune to becoming a spirit, since it's a robot or teleport being jammed but sonic still being able to outrun it, etc). Even if they decided to save an powerless character, they could still have made others combine their power to make a way out and protect each other (but only the survivor crossing it successfully in the end), which would make them not look completely powerless with the sole exception of Kirby.

So, they decided Kirby would be the survivor and molded the story around it.

Re: Rumour: There Doesn't Appear To Be A Switch Physical Edition For World of Final Fantasy Maxima

RennanNT

@TheGhostWhoWalks There's no cheaper technology which is small and safe to be played on the go. If you don't care about portability, get a PS4. The 3rd party library is much better, plus the money you will save from games which already dropped in price there compared to the Switch will pay the console cost.

Just be warned, extra downloads requirements isn't a Switch thing and you will find many games requiring them in the other consoles as well.

Re: A Zelda-Like Open World Pokémon Game Is "Still On The Cards", Says Junichi Masuda

RennanNT

@TheFanatic QoL are imrpovements not evolution. And they have been quite slow on it. Allowing a HM being used on field without forcing a battle move on pokemons has been a complaint since gen 1, the boring grind for perfect pokemons has been there for a long time too, among other things.

Gen VII did change a lot more than the usual, but wasn't that exactly because of constant complaints about the series being stale? Let's Go could be considered a game changer, but that was made by someone else and only made into the main series because it was a huge success.

I'm not saying to throw away what they have. They should keep doing those iterations over the classic gameplay.

But they have the money, the manpower (Nintendo does), the guaranteed sales and one of the most versatile IPs. They can try different and ambitious things simultaniously with their safe games without much risk of losing money and wih a high chance to grow further their fanbase, but they have only been playing safe for 20 years.

That's bad for consumers who could get more great games and it's bad for them, whose series started selling 30+millions (45 if you include Yellow) and nowadays sells around 15 millions each entry. And yet we have people defending this...

Re: A Zelda-Like Open World Pokémon Game Is "Still On The Cards", Says Junichi Masuda

RennanNT

@Pokefanmum82 @TheFanatic Pokemon Go was developed by Niantic, not Game Freak. Pokemon Let's Go is basically adding things from go into the same game they have been doing for 20 years.

The worse thing is, Mario and Zelda proved there's space for both traditional gameplay (their 2D games) and ambitious projects (their 3D games). And yet Pokemon is the one with the most potential, both financial and also for having a lot of interesting directions they could go with.

But no, a series which consistently sells over 10 millions per game can only produce low budget spin-offs, with rare mid-budget safe games.

Re: Reminder: You Don't Need Xenoblade Chronicles 2 To Play Torna – The Golden Country

RennanNT

@rjejr wait after its release before deciding. So far, all we have are assumptions of the best order.

@ArcanaXVI Anyone who played XC2 knows the overall story of Torna, the villians, their motives, who dies and who survives. Those are much bigger spoilers than what's guaranteed to be spoiled by Torna. Let's first see what they reveal in Torna before assuming the best order.

The game director clearly supported the idea of people starting with Torna and said they considered having it as the first part of XC2, but in the end the scope was too big for a single game. So it wouldn't be surprising if the author intended order was Torna first, but it was too small for a full game.

Re: id Software Evaluating If Rage 2 Would Be Possible On Switch

RennanNT

@Liam_Doolan it would be better explaing what he means by "streaming" so people do not confuse with video streaming.

@DannyBoi like was explained a earlier, by streaming he means loading only the part relevant to the player right now and load more as needed. Rage 2 requires the entire map and everything on it loaded at all times, which is way more demanding.

Re: Wolfenstein II Developer Says Switch Port Will Have No Compromises

RennanNT

@OorWullie You should read what was actually said instead of the headline, which unfortunately is getting more and more inaccurate in this site.

It was asked about compromises on framerate and the reply was that the gameplay wasn't affected by the "whatever framerate we needed to stick to" (which is probably a way to refer to 30fps without explicitly saying it).

Re: You'll Be Able To Use Your Nintendo Account On Multiple Nintendo Switch Consoles

RennanNT

@Damo "you'd be able to have more than one Switch console and play the same games on each one".

We're already able to do that. You can login in multiple Switches and have all your games in both.

You can only download/play softwares from accounts which are active in the device, but you can manually deactivate in eShop settings and activate the other Switch by opening eShop with that account. All its remaining is transfer saves without transfering the whole profile...

Re: Nintendo Reveals Splatoon’s Original Prototypes At GDC

RennanNT

@NintendoKnight I think someone created a fake list and edited after the direct.

If Pokemon title making references to mass-murdering weapons isn't enough, the typo in Phoenix *W*right and no "working title" anywhere, despite including next years games and Smash which still is in working title stage, to me is a big LOL NO.

Re: Developers Can Now Use The Versatile PhyreEngine On Nintendo Switch

RennanNT

@YummyHappyPills There's a difference between Sony adding Switch support and SE porting the game to a unsupported platform.

In the former, any game using the engine will have a much easier time porting. In the later, SE could only work on the parts which matters to their game and they not necessarily would share their code.

See Rocket League as an example. It's on Unreal Engine 3 and it's out for 2 months, but Epic Games didn't add UE3 support to Switch.

Re: Video: Gawk At these Incredible Jumping Feats in Super Mario Odyssey

RennanNT

@shani sorry for the super late reply...

The throw mechanic cannot be used indefinitely. Once you're in the air, you can step on it once and do a dive at most.

The ground pound jump make more sense than somersault. Legs are used like springs to bounce Mario upward, similar to the backflip or triple jump. On the other hand, somersault shouldn't be higher than a normal jump upward...

IMO, the platforming is harder in Odyssey than SS and SMG (the ones I've played recently), although they give ways to skip most of it using Cappy if you want to. To each their own I guess...

Re: Video: Gawk At these Incredible Jumping Feats in Super Mario Odyssey

RennanNT

@shani That's not cheating. They made an easy path for newcomers and a harder shortcut for more advanced players. Most of enemies capture are used for that same purpose, avoid platforming if you want to.

It's not that difficult, but that goes for 64/SS/Galaxy too. If you think not, try playing them again...

The reward for the harder challenges is completely worthless when you can you can get one ground pounding, so I can understand those who want the sensation of rewarding being disappointed, but the game is about playing around not that sensation.

And the mindless moons are there so players doing small sessions accomplish something while in the path to harder ones. There's a psychological effect in doing absolutely zero progress.

Re: Super Mario Maker Gets A Long-Overdue Update On Wii U

RennanNT

@gatorboi352 Creators like this have been done before using controls (LBP comes to mind) and you can use Right Joycon as a pointer. Touch will be the best way to create, but if you're only going to play levels or do small changes, you can do it docked just fine.

Re: Super Mario Maker Gets A Long-Overdue Update On Wii U

RennanNT

@Grumblevolcano Fair point on the first part. I don't understand what you mean on the second part though.

@rjejr While character/stage designers were working on DLC, the rest of the team could be working on new modes/engine/UI/etc.
And Sakurai doesn't need to be as actively involved as previous entries, like he hasn't worked on Kirby for a while, IIRC.

Re: Super Mario Maker Gets A Long-Overdue Update On Wii U

RennanNT

@rjejr I wonder about that SSB4DX:

° SSB came within 2 years of GC/Wii/WU lifespan. As a evergreen title and system seller, it only makes sense to do it again.

° Next year will complete 4 years of SSB4, enough time to make a new game.

° Even if they didn't start right away, leaving content to add after the game release worked for new IPs, should work for SSB too.

° Unless Pokemon make in time, they need a big holidays title for 2018, and there aren't other candidates on the level of SMM and SSB.

° It's one of the games which will sell the most online subscriptions

I could see them releasing the DX early 2018 as you said, together with paid online, but the closer we get without any info, the less likely it seems.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Will Also Release on iOS on 2nd February

RennanNT

Last time I've checked App Store few days ago, Mario Run was everywhere (banners in main page and being the icon for many games categories), and now is no more. Maybe it's just coincidence, but maybe Apple contacted Nintendo and said they would stop featuring their games if they made timed delayed for google too.
