Re: Natsume Is Bringing River City: Tokyo Rumble To North America This Year

This is fantastic news! Also, check out Swords & Darkness which is similar and also by Arc System Works. It didn't get great reviews from critics, but I loved it and couldn't stop playing it for a couple of days. It's a simple River City Ransom game with a medieval setting. If you go in expecting that, you won't be disappointed. It can be purchased on eShop for pretty cheap.

@Turbo857 I agree with you, and I still don't get the hate on the controls and the game in general, especially now, after the reviews are up - and they aren't all that bad at all.

Seems it's just the same few people here who keep going on and on about the same thing over and over. All the passion, and time spent, and the amount of content written by some people in this comments forum to try to dissuade others from buying this game astound me.

Anyway, bundled with SF Guard, this game is exceptional value and I have preordered and paid in full.

@LemonSlice @ThrowMeBarrel I think I understand ThrowMeBarrel feels, it may not be worth it if you played it before in the past, even though it's the best edition with extra content. I think they're targeting folks like myself who have never played this before. I don't play games (other than Threes) on my mobile and I don't have Steam. My gaming is primarily done on my N3DS and secondarily on the consoles I own. I'm preordering as soon as I can.

Re: Weirdness: The NES Zapper Just Became Much Deadlier

It looks damn cool. Most of us here play games where we're hacking, slashing, and blowing people away all day long. I wouldn't do that in real life (I don't own a gun and never plan to), but I thought this Glock Zapper looked really cool. Imagine one in Nerf colours!

Re: Review: Japanese Rail Sim 3D Journey in suburbs #1 Vol.2 (3DS eShop)

I downloaded and played a demo on one of the games and the biggest issue for me was the very choppy framerate. It's impressive that the game was using the 3D for the FMV, but I guess the framerate was the trade off. I will say that it was kind of neat to be transported to another country (Japan) and see the sights through the train. There is a specific niche market they are targeting here and I'm guessing that for people who like trains, you could probably add 3-4 points to the score for them.

Re: Digital Foundry Puts the Star Fox Zero Resolution and Framerate to the Test

"...In all, Star Fox Zero brings something unexpected to the table, and we've enjoyed our time with it so far. Due for release on April 22nd, it's one of the last major Wii U releases on the calender, but ranks alongside Super Mario Maker as one of the best uses of its unique GamePad. It's a great send-off for a system that now appears to be on its last stretch. "

I can't wait! If you don't like it, just go back to Star Fox 64...I think you've made up your mind already to be close minded. Wii U has something the other systems don't - their gamepad, and I'm happy to see it being utilized. Platinum designed the game and I haven't yet played a Platinum game I didn't like. If the reviews come out and the game really sucks, then so be it, but I have faith.

Re: Gallery: Gawk At 3DS Screens for Zero Time Dilemma

@happylittlepigs
The game is like a series of Resident Evil type logic puzzles you need to solve to progress the story. For example, you are locked in a room with a bed and a computer. You search the bed and find a key, the key opens a box hidden under the bed, in the box is a riddle, you solve the riddle which gives you an answer, you type the answer into the computer which gives you a math question that you solve and input that number into the keypad that unlocks the room... lol maybe I should design a level... VLR Maker! It's heavy text based adventure, so you're reading a story and it describes in great detail the room, and what you see, etc.

Re: Soapbox: No, Star Fox Zero's Controls Are not Bad or Broken

RedFinch

Come to think of it, it takes hours of game play to master most games. I'm thinking about all the hours we've put into games like Street Fighter, Smash Bros, Splatoon, you name it. So an hour or so to get used to the game isn't a big deal.

Btw, I am pretty sure it's not Nintendo, it's Platinum who designed the controls and gameplay - same guys who developed The Wonderful 101 which had mixed reviews when it first came out, but pretty much everyone these days says that game is fantastic. I say give it a chance.

Can you learn to drive a car in an hour? How about learn to fly an airplane in an hour? How long did it take you to get used to Monster Hunter's controls on 3DS or PSP? I think I've made my point. The controls aren't bad, they need getting used to. I am starting to get excited and feel the magic...

Re: Swords & Darkness

The game was better than a 4/10 in my opinion. I would give it a solid 7/10 and personally liked it enough to give it an 8/10. As you grind, you unlock new moves and access areas you couldn't previously - for instance, you can unlock a double jump skill which will allow you to jump across a pit you couldn't previously to access a new area. It is very similar to River City Ransom and made by the same company. I found it very fun to play and the graphics were charming. I couldn't put it down for a while. Worth checking out if you like this type of game.

Re: Review: Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun (SNES)

There is a game on eShop called Sword & Darkness made by the same company - it's kind of a medieval take on these type of games. There was a lot of grinding and it was a great way to kill several hours and I really recommend everyone who likes this series to check it out.
