DS games are not region locked, so all DS imports will work on your 3DS. But the 3DS games are region locked, so you can only play region specific games with your region locked 3DS.
@TossedLlama I hope Cold Case will be released in North America too... however, I'm not holding out hope.
Cing never released Last Window: Secret of Cape West to North America and I ended up having to import the game from an eBayer from the UK who somehow had dozens of copies of the game.
Although I'm not happy about that possibility, I guess it's not the end of the world really, as there are so many titles out there to play...
I feel it's way too much money for a download and also for just a 'remix' of previous levels that have been seen and heard before. I would buy it if it was cheaper though, or pay full price if it was a cartridge release.
I guess we can all still play it, but it just won't be on a Wii U. I'm reluctant to buy any more new consoles due to my massive back log (I'm a game hoarder) so it maybe just as well that it's not going to show up on Wii U.
I think kids are the target demographic here. My son LOVES Yo-Kai Watch. I appreciate the polish of the graphics and presentation and it would have been something I would have loved to play 35 years earlier when I was his age.
@Stu13 @Gary19862004 This game was great. Like Stu13 says, it's a little medieval River City Ransom. I think this is absolutely true. Same developer as River City Ransom, and just look at the art style - similar noseless faces. Repetitive beating up of enemies. The way maps are laid out. Sucked up hours of my life and available for a good price. 8/10
Sounds like sales have been good, so if you're a fan, cross your fingers that Natsume also ports River City Ransom SP. That game was just released in Japan and isn't the same as this game (Tokyo Rumble was originally released in 2013, under the title Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun SP).
I'm also giving up hope of any DLC coming out for Pokken Tournament... it seemed for a time that it would happen, but I think it's been too long and hype long over.
I'd give the game an 8/10 - yes, nostalgia played a factor, but it's also fun. I had a big smile on my face playing this game since I got it and I haven't even tried the dodgeball mode yet either.
What's also neat is that you can control the camera angles slightly and zoom in on your character, I enjoyed doing that quite often just to jazz up my playing experience. I would pay the $30 asking price all day long.
@HAL9000 I totally understand! I even sometimes feel guilty for playing too much instead of working or spending time with my family. All part of growing up, I guess! But some reason, seems okay to do other hobbies for a few hours, like read, watch Netflix, exercise, or martial arts, but always feel guilty when I play games for too long.
Back on topic, seeing such a positive review, I'm definitely going to add Severed to my 3DS collection.
Mystical Fighter for the MegaDrive. It was an odd, Kabuki themed game, but totally in the beat-em-up category.
Edit: they actually mention it in the video! It doesn't look as good as I remembered it, lol.
Well the main fighter I'm playing right now is River City Ransom: Tokyo Rumble... having a blast!
Hopefully some of these retro classics make it onto 3DS or Wii U eShop. Mazin Fighter looks really great.
@JaxonH I think Yokai 2 will do fine - just because it shows 7% here tells me that the Nintendolifers who post here aren't the game's target market. I'll likely be buying the game for my kid this Christmas. He loves the game and likes collecting the discs for his big toy Yokai watch that makes sounds and music from the show.
@BispoSnake River City Ransom: Tokyo Rumble is already out since last week for North America. If you want a physical copy, you'll need to purchase from select online retailers.
Love Symphony of the Night and the GBA and DS games that came afterwards. It would be awesome to have a 3DS version for Symphony of the Night, wouldn't it?
It's not for everyone, but what it sets out to do, it does extremely well. It was very polished. I enjoyed it for a few days and I've since moved on. It's not a 9 for me. I'd say 7/10.
It is a great game - I'd score it a 7/10. Watch some of the game play first to see if it's something you'd like. What it does, it does really well and there's a high level of polish and little extras included.
Thanks, very much! I'm Canadian, so it was just easier for me to order from that Canadian based web store. Still waiting for it to show up though! Let us know what you think of the game should you get it first!
@TerrapinJess LOL As for me, I didn't want to take a chance so I just ordered from Videogamesplus site. I needed one more cent to qualify for free shipping, so I also added GTA Chinatown Wars to my cart. Hey you gotta spend money to save money, am-i-rite?
We are excited to finally have a release date, hooray! While in PAL territories Tokyo Rumble is digital exclusive, in North America there will be a few ways to snag a physical copy:
1. With Collector's Keychain On the Natsume Amazon Store *Game plus Keychain will go on sale launch day, September 27th Link will become active mid-day September 27th: https://www.amazon.com/River-City-Li...y+tokyo+rumble
The world is a better place with Studio Ghibli films.
My kids love My Neighbour Totoro. They also love Hayao Miyazaki's "The Castle of Cagliostro."
The Red Turtle is the next Ghibli project, they are teaming up with another studio.
To be honest, I haven't enjoyed the last several Ghibli movies to come out as much as previous releases. Earthsea was surprisingly disappointing, especially considering that I read and enjoyed the novels. Princess Kaguya was okay, and I haven't watched the movie with Marnie yet.
Mamoru Hosoda may be the next Miyazaki - though I think he has yet to top his Summer Wars, which is still one of my faves.
@Phil_Kavadias
DBZ is very iconic, a globally recognized, top brand. They haven't ever taken a break or stopped releasing DragonBall merchandise. And they recently announced that the series will continue. The world Akira Toriyama created is just a super solid franchise, a marketing dream. There is just something magical about DragonBall.
I've been a huge DBZ fan my entire life, even before it showed up in North America. My online signature, is from the DBZ TV opening credits. My boys are into it and reading my old translated comics by Viz and I'm buying the coloured manga for the family. I'm picking up a new DBZ blu-ray movie every year or so and also videogames here and there. I'm purchasing the SH Figuarts figures and Banpresto mini-statues. Really, hardly a month goes by where I'm not buying something Dragonball related, lol.
@gamer36 Yes you can. You can turn off the 3D effect for every 3DS game by adjusting the 3D slider. You may want to consider buying the lower priced 2DS if you think the 3D will hurt your eyes.
Well, testers being 'too good' isn't a great excuse - as game testers are supposed to be thorough and they should have purposefully played themselves into the scenario where the glitch could have happened. Unfortunate, but Atlus did the right thing by getting ahead of it and apologizing for the mistake right away.
I remember once playing an Aliens v. Predator beat-em-up by Capcom at the arcade when I was a teenager; it was a four player game in the 80s, big cabinet, four joysticks. You controlled a Predator warrior and moved through the levels fighting Aliens. You could even do an unstoppable shoryuken move with the Predator. I played it only that one time and never encountered that game again, but that would be awesome if they could release that some how. Probably won't be that awesome in today's times, lol. Finally, how about some Battletoads action?
Shantae and Hollow Knight look gorgeous, can't wait to throw my money at these games. Will have to see about the others on a case by case, they're not really my cup of tea.
First Axiom Verge and now Jotun! Both are worthy purchases and I have really enjoyed Jotun so far. The game is just right in terms of difficulty, and there really is a lot to see, beautiful graphics and the perfect protagonist - tough, viking warrior woman who isn't the usual stereotypical female character. There are a lot of nice cool touches. I did not know Norse mythology was this cool! I have a huge backlog like everyone else, but I don't think I'm going to stop playing Jotun until I'm done.
@allav866 The very best Street Fighter action on 3DS IMHO is Super Street Fighter IV 3D.
If you really want to get one of these 2D classic Street Fighters, I would then say Hyper Fighting as the speed makes it stand apart, followed by Super - you get more characters, Cammy, Fei Long. I'm getting both of these when they eventually go on sale.
I've heard Alpha 2 has some performance issues, but I've never played it.

Re: Review: River City: Tokyo Rumble (3DS)
@Rei It's easy to get lost, there are five 3DS games!!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunio-kun
Also consider Swords & Darkness on the eShop, it is super similar to Kunio-kun games, but with a medieval theme. I love that little gem.
Also, a new Kunio-Kun collection is coming out for 3DS as well, collects 11 of the earlier games.

Interestingly, Spring Water is very bad for carnivorous plants. The minerals in Spring Water can be harmful to them!
Re: Pirate Pop Plus Arrives on Wii U and New 3DS on 20th October
I like it! But I don't like the old Gameboy looking graphics...why did they opt for this retro look??!

I just heard about this game recently! I'm going to buy it for sure now.
