Re: Guide: Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst To Best

Razieluigi

N64 is way too high, and NES is way too low. They should just be switched. Otherwise, pretty much correct.

Some great games came out of the N64 era, no question, but most of the console's library aged about as well as milk.

And the NES just gave us so many freaking classics that are still excellent today. You can't just disregard something that important to gaming history. The fact that it's ranked lower than the OG GameBoy is absurd.

Re: Review: SEGA Mega Drive Classics - A Welcome Stroll Down Memory Lane

Razieluigi

@Jokerwolf I'm a huge fan of Analogue and have a Mega SG preordered, but I still plan to get this (again, as long as other reviews corroborate the emulation quality — I remain skeptical).

It's got some hard-to-find titles, and the perk of having them available in portable format (especially the RPGs) is pretty great.

Re: Team Cherry Has Cancelled The Physical Version Of Hollow Knight

Razieluigi

@90sRetroGaming The idea that physical games are a safeguard against loss just isn't true anymore. It was true back in the days when a game was released in its final and immutable form.

But now that games are loaded up with patches and DLC after release, most physical copies aren't going to contain the game you remember playing anyway.

I get the allure of physical copies. I'm obsessed with my old cartridges. But people seem to be radically overestimating the amount of protection they provide. If you want to replay Hollow Knight in 20 years, you're not going to reach for your physical Switch copy. You'll probably just download it for 99 cents on whatever digital marketplace has it on sale.

Re: The Sega Mega Drive Turns 30 Today

Razieluigi

Absolutely love this console. It was a weird machine in a lot of respects, but it was my entry into the 16-bit era, and gave me a lot of fond memories. Sonic. Ecco. Gunstar Heroes.

Looking forward to the Analogue Mega SG to breathe new life into all those old cartridges next year.

Re: Best Buy Will Soon Stock Select Limited Run Games Physical Switch Releases

Razieluigi

@Dang69 Oh, that's ridiculous. People don't get this butthurt over the cost of shipping. If that were the case, it's absolutely no different than a game going on sale a few months after release. Most video games, Limited Run or not, can be expected to cost less a few months out from release.

Stop coming up with fake reasons to be upset. What's really bothering you is that you feel less special now that other people can have what you already do.

Re: Best Buy Will Soon Stock Select Limited Run Games Physical Switch Releases

Razieluigi

@TreonsRealm I've never understood the attitude of being upset when other people are eventually given access to something that you already have.

At the time, it was the only way to get a physical copy. But since then, the company has grown and is looking into new distribution options. There is nothing wrong with that.

If you're happy with the game and thought it was worth what you paid for it yesterday, then nothing you've learned today should change that.

Re: 16-Year-Old Joseph Saelee Beats Seven-Time Tetris World Champion For The Ultimate Crown

Razieluigi

@KayFiOS I think the article was just worded poorly. I don't think the writer meant that anything about Saelee or his performance is sickening. Just that the situation is a reminder of how old the rest of us are getting.

Kind of like "it sickens me to think that Jurassic Park is 25 years old."

That said, it's an otherwise unnecessary thing to note. Nobody needs to point out that chess was invented many hundreds of years before the current world champion was born. Tetris is timeless enough that it will outlive us all.

Re: Guide: Starlink Buyer's Guide - What You Get In The Physical And Digital Editions

Razieluigi

@tourjeff I recommend it, but with caveats. It's a pretty standard Ubisoft open-world "go to the icon and do the thing" game. It's inherently repetitive in the same way that games like Assassin's Creed are repetitive, basically amounting to a gigantic interactive checklist.

The game looks great, and StarFox is a really nice addition. I enjoy the flying and shooting enough that the game just provides a reasonable environment in which to do it.

So I'll have my fun with it. Will it be one of my favorite games of the year? Absolutely not.

Re: Guide: Starlink Buyer's Guide - What You Get In The Physical And Digital Editions

Razieluigi

I'm enjoying the game, but I'm really glad I just bought the vanilla Digital Edition instead of an overpriced Starter Pack that comes with less content. It feels more-or-less fully featured for the price of a standard game release.

Not only are the toys much more expensive, but they're far less convenient than just picking things from the in-game menu. Seems like it would be fun for ten minutes before you just get annoyed and play digitally anyway.

Re: Surprise! A Special Version Of The Legend Of Zelda Has Appeared In The Switch's NES Library

Razieluigi

@Nukuleardawg I actually did, briefly. But my news feed was immediately flooded with a billion Japanese posts that I can't read, and it drove me crazy so I removed the account. So ended my foray into region-free gaming.

Still... I'd like to have the localized game with Japanese music. Shouldn't be too hard to stitch that together, right Nintendo?

(And thanks about the name — came to me in a moment of madness several years ago, and I liked the Photoshopped result!)

Re: Hands On: Starlink: Battle for Atlas Feels More Like A Star Fox Game Every Time We Play It

Razieluigi

@I_am_Done Never played Assault, but Zero is hot garbage.

There's a good game suffocating to death somewhere in there, but the ludicrous control scheme pretty much trashes whatever fun there is to be had.

Not only is it a bad game, but it might be Miyamoto's lowest point as a game designer. There was either nobody brave enough to reign him in, or he was too stubborn to listen to reason as the project took shape.
