Re: Where To Pre-Order Zelda: Breath Of The Wild On Nintendo Switch 2

PewnyPL

@Dimey Hey, replying here because they locked comments on the other news. The US price that is always thrown around doesn't include sales tax, as it's different in every state, county, etc. Whereas prices in UK and EU always have VAT counted in.
Therefore, with the sales tax added, both the console and the games cost as much in US as in EU.

Re: Here's When The Super Mario Bros. Movie Releases In Cinemas In Your Region

PewnyPL

@Vil I suspect it's likely because of dub. Either we got the script too late for translation, or they didn't even give it yet fearing any leaks.
It's weird too, as Marvel/Disney doesn't have such issues, MCU movies came out here dubbed sometimes even before USA (I remember most of Europe got Infinity War or Endgame before USA for some reason)

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Was The Best-Selling Switch Game In The US Last Year

PewnyPL

As long as the game is fun and not FUNDAMENTALLY broken, people are willing to let a lot slide.
That's why Cyberpunk failed. The PC version was fine, but the previous gen console versions were absolute nightmare, broken in a lot of ways, and that's why it was an issue.
But take Skyrim. The game was (and still is!) a mess, many bugged quests that couldn't be finished, on PC there was a bug with different languages where you couldn't do Esbern's encounter because his audio wouldn't play, to say physics were broken is like to say nothing, and the patches were introducing MORE BUGS (anyone remember first or second patch to the game that made dragons fly backwards and breathe fire from the other end?). And yet it's one of the more succesful games there were, BEFORE all the rereleases of it. Why? Because even with all that, it was fun to play.
And so is Scarlet and Violet once you ignore the low performance and occasional glitches.

Re: Random: New Pokémon Cards Tell A Wholesome Evolution Story

PewnyPL

@somnambulance Two reasons for that. First, comparing my old set (some starter pack from the first gen games) to newer starter packs, I see the HP of pokemon just in general being higher than in the past. Secondly, that Gardevoir is an "EX" card. It has stronger moves and much more HP, but when it's knocked out the opponent gets 2 prize cards instead of one.

Re: Which Is The Cheapest Switch eShop Region?

PewnyPL

I'm 100% sure Nevada, or at least specifically Las Vegas, has 0% digital sales tax as well. My imported 3DS (purchased by a friend in Vegas in fact) is set to that region and I never had to pay any additional tax.

Re: Capcom Says It's Unable To Add Cross-Save And Cross-Play To Monster Hunter Rise

PewnyPL

More like unwilling to do so. MH Rise already uses internet connection to grab event data. Capcom has a huge network infrastructure for a ton of their games. A simple server that handles logging in from within the game (no even need for an account, the game could generate a code that it later uses to authenticate with it) and then grabs the save data off of console/PC and when you log using the same ID on the other console/PC it downloads it. It's absolutely not hard for them to do, they just either don't want to or Nintendo told them 'no'.
I mean, the goddamn Witcher 3 has cross saves between Switch and PC.

Re: Atlus Has Seven "Project" Reveals Planned For Persona's 25th Anniversary

PewnyPL

Considering how well Persona 4 Golden sold on Steam when it released, I'm hoping Persona 3 will arrive on it as well. Hopefully a mix between the PSP version (being able to control ALL party members as well as some minor QoL stuff) and the PS2 version (better graphics than the PSP port, having the actual anime cutscenes instead of in-engine ones the PSP port had)

Re: Best Of 2020: No Anime Please, We're Westerners - When Anime Was Taboo In Western Games

PewnyPL

Whoever was doing this article must've been drunk. First two games have the same 'structure', that is:
Japanese title/English title
Japanese cover/English cover

Then suddenly Tsubasa drops in, where titles are in reverse, but not the cover art, making it look weird.
Then we go to Link's Awakening where for some reason we have English Cover/Japanese Cover, swapping art around.

Is it minor? Maybe. But for someone who never saw any of Street Fighter 2 cover art I for example don't know which one is Japanese and which one English. If it was only one random occurence? Then I can assume left is Japan right is English. But first, Link's Awakening, which has same title/license is the only one who swapped art so far, and looking lower Area 88 also has swapped covers.

Is it that hard to STICK to a design and not make it completely random as article goes?

Re: Where To Pre-Order Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit On Nintendo Switch

PewnyPL

@tanaka2687 @AtlanteanMan @chardir It won't be 200 to play with 2 players. 100 is for a game and the car. Video shown when they played multiplayer they did so on one Switch (in TV mode). More than likely additional cars will be sold separately. For how much however is yet to be seen, but I wouldn't expect it for any less than 50. Those cars are not THAT small, and they come with integrated camera.

Re: Nintendo Reiterates Plans For Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data Workarounds

PewnyPL

@Friendly There is a SMALL chance it will work. Splatoon 2 had different versions actually, I found it the hard way when I tried to buy Octo Expansion from US eShop despite owning European version, it didn't work. Plus, splatfests were locked to the region of the game.

HOWEVER, Animal Crossing is not a competitive game, so it's very likely it won't have any regional differences.

Re: Review: Pokémon Sword And Shield - A Solid Start To Gen 8 On Switch, Despite The Hate

PewnyPL

@Peshokinha The problem isn't the fact pokemon are cut anymore. The problem is that Game Freak lied about the reason they are cut (they said they are making the models from scratch: https://www.polygon.com/pokemon/2019/7/13/20693069/pokemon-sword-shield-pokedex-limited-game-freak-statement-nintendo-switch ) while in truth, now that dataminers have access to the games, it's been confirmed that the models are exactly the same as they were in Sun and Moon.

Re: Review: Pokémon Sword And Shield - A Solid Start To Gen 8 On Switch, Despite The Hate

PewnyPL

I'm surprised the numerous bugs in the game (like, missing music in fight against the box legendary) are not mentioned in the review, as well as terrible quality of animations (which is what Game Freak said that it's why they are cutting the pokedex for, to work on THOSE). Not to mention that the game runs at 720p and looks MUCH worse than any other Nintendo game on the Switch and is just slightly above 3DS quality.
Not to mention Game Freak outward lying. Game may not be out, but some stores broke the street date and the game's data is around, accessible. Models in the game have been checked and they are exactly the same as models in Sun and Moon. And Game Freak said that they are making them from scratch. Here is a link to article where they claim that: https://www.polygon.com/pokemon/2019/7/13/20693069/pokemon-sword-shield-pokedex-limited-game-freak-statement-nintendo-switch

I don't want to be negative about this series, I love it a lot. But they should give it 2 years instead of 1 year and releasing an incomplete game.

Re: Game Freak Isn't Reusing 3DS Models In Pokémon Sword and Shield

PewnyPL

I don't believe this one bit, but there is currently no way to prove it. Currently. Once the games are released, you can bet they will be datamined to hell within days, THEN we will get a confirmation if the models are the same as in 3DS.
For the record, besides the textures, the 3DS models are EXACTLY the same as the ones used in Smash Ultimate and Let's Go games. The textures are different simply because they are downsized for 3DS.
