Re: Guide: The Best Metroid Games - Every Metroid Game Ranked

PewnyPL

"Metroid: Samus Returns is a 3D remake of Metroid II. Well, it's the kind of remake that Nintendo like to make, and actually shares a similar relationship to A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds. It's more of a reimagining in that sense."
OK, what? This makes literally no sense. ALttP and ALBW are two completely different games that share part of the game world and gameplay mechanics, besides that they are two completely different games as far as the story goes, it's more so akin to a sequel (well, as much as something can be a sequel in Zelda games)
Samus Returns on the other hand shares its story with Metroid 2, they are in a way the same game, so it's a solid remake.

Re: Feature: What's Left To Be Announced For Smash Bros. Ultimate On Switch?

PewnyPL

"every last single-player mode in Smash history has a green button"
Um, what? Quickly googling up, in Brawl the Solo mode button is orange, Subspace Emissary is white...ish and the green button is the Vault. In Melee there was no color buttons whatsoever in the menu. In SSB4 the green button is Shash Tour and Smash Run, sure, but that doesn't mean it has to stick around (I will give it that the rest of the colors do fit the SSB4 ones)

Re: Could Switch's Non-Compliant USB-C Spec Be To Blame For Third-Party Docks Bricking Consoles?

PewnyPL

@Silbrandir @jswhitfield8 @Curlynob @MrBlacky
No, CHARGING the Switch itself is not an issue. What they said about Nintendo's power supply not being compliant to USB-C spec was about the dock itself, as that uses higher voltage (per USB-C specifications). All in all, the dock's HDMI output as well as the powering the Switch BY THE DOCK are not to spec. Powerbanks and such will supply only 5V, which is perfectly safe for the Switch itself.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Would Like to Make Another Multiplayer Zelda Game

PewnyPL

To be honest, me and my friend WANT to play a multiplayer Zelda. The biggest issue we had with Tri Force Heroes for us, is the fact you can either play alone or with THREE players. You can't play with only two (ie. one dummy that can be controlled by either player like in singleplayer), unless you get a 3rd random person in.

So, if another multiplayer Zelda game does happen, all I want is for it to be playable with 2 people.

Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount

PewnyPL

@ALinkttPresent @seb5049 @kyuubikid213 I know that Nintendo is doing a lockout, of course. However, in the previous bundle, the NA only one, I COULD buy it even thought I live in Europe. And there is no way to switch it to 'american' version anywhere on Humble's site sadly, it reads out region based on IP.

Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount

PewnyPL

Botheridoodaas! Humble apparently started to do some region lockout shenanninanninannigans. I have a USA 3DS and Wii U, but I live in Europe, and above the payment thingy I get a "Nintendo eShop codes can only be redeemed on Nintendo eShop in Europe and South Africa. They will not work on American or Japanese Wii U or Nintendo 3DS devices."

@PewnyPL - please mind the profanity. Thanks muchly

Re: Weirdness: You Can Now Play 3D NES Games In Your Web Browser

PewnyPL

I don't think Nintendo will C&D this. It's basically an emulator. If the games are hosted on the site, all they have to do is remove the roms and have the player supply their own roms. There, done.

EDIT: So I checked the site. It's LITERALLY just an emulator. Considering there are countless other NES emulators hosted everywhere, Nintendo won't take this down either.

Re: Sega Producer Explains Exactly What Went Wrong With Sonic Boom

PewnyPL

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Is he serious?! It just shows that they really don't know where they screwed up!
"The biggest mistake in Boom was adding too many features to it. It was too much to ask of any development team." No, asking for those features were good and many development teams would handle it, GIVEN ENOUGH TIME. This is where Sonic Team/Sega screwed up, they didn't give enough time to the developers. And they've been doing it for years now, what with Sonic '06 being a prime example.

Re: Soapbox: Sonic, It's Time to Talk

PewnyPL

@TheHumbleFellow It wasn't BRR's decision to release the game. I'm fairly sure they even wanted MORE TIME to work with the game, but SEGA went "Haha, nope, we scheduled release for this day, it's going out".

Re: Cubic Ninja Sales Spike Following Announcement of 3DS Homebrew Requirement

PewnyPL

I love how people read "Homebrew only exploit" and immediately go "PIRACY!". If it only was this simple... 3DS has way too much security, and launching a game from SD card would require Kernel Mode access to either install it by BYPASSING LICENSE CHECK or reroute game cart reads to SD card. None of that can be done in any way on this exploit as it only grants USER MODE access

Besides, piracy on 3DS existed for quite a while now because of Gateway (4.x only), and recently a new flashcard was released that works on newest firmware.

Re: Upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Patch To Address Balance Issues

PewnyPL

Guys, it's IMPOSSIBLE to backup those replays. The saved replay data is pretty much the button inputs and without the random element (as in, every items and such spawns at the exact same time it did). The game pretty much plays itself. Those old replays won't work with the patched game because the mechanics will change. In one case you could've KO'd someone, but after a nerf it's possible that the punch won't KO them anymore. Hell, even just making them launch a shorter distance would already break the flow of the replay.
