Re: Review: Abyss (Wii U eShop)

PanicPuppet

I'm glad I finally decide to get Abyss after leaving the DSiWare version on my wishlist for the longest time. I've gotta say its quite a challenging game! It took me gosh knows how many tries, just to get through level 1! But I love the minimalistic approach to the game's presentation, music, and gameplay. Its a great game at an insanely great value!

Re: Lucasfilm Decrees That All Star Wars Video Games Are Non-Canon

PanicPuppet

@Joshers744 I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! SW fans are almost like the Sonic fanbase; a good amount is always displeased with every new game, TV show, comic, etc. They've both become a mess of a fandom; being split into dozens of subgroups.

Judging from a number of the newer comments, my suggestion to "hardcore" fans lightening up still stands.

Re: Talking Point: Horror and Metroid Could be a Perfect Fit

PanicPuppet

I don't want Metroid to become an outright horror series; Its got its own style.

I liked that there was a creepiness and sense of horror that lingered around in most of the games, (always loved how you'd only hear Samus' metallic footsteps occasionally in the Prime games, without any music) it was kept at a minimum, yet was still very effective.

I say leave the series tone the way it is. Its something no other franchise out there has really replicated; save for added gore and grotesque imagery.

Re: Details Emerge of a Cancelled Nintendo-Exclusive Star Wars Game

PanicPuppet

Nice to see some Prequel fans around here...

In all honesty, I'd take nearly any new Star Wars game if it were to come to Wii U or 3DS. Pinball is fun, but I want something with more substance now.

Hopefully those games in development that are inspired by the Batman Arkham games will be what we've been itching for.

Re: Review: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Wii U eShop)

PanicPuppet

Still one of my top 5 games of all time! I've owned it for 10 years, and still find myself replaying through it! I still say this is the best Mario & Luigi entry; partially because it was the first of its kind. Also this was the first time we saw Luigi being a goofy, offbeat sidekick before it was the norm.

If you ask me, Cackletta >>> Fawful

Re: Review: Rusty's Real Deal Baseball (3DS eShop)

PanicPuppet

I'm loving this so far, its a very unique experience. I think a huge reason is that its a baseball game, something I rarely play unless its got Mario on the cover. The haggling mechanic is a nice, intriguing way of getting you to buy more mini-games. I'm defiantly going to get the Umpire one; gotta love telling someone they're "out," right?

Also I find Rusty to be a lovable, sympathetic character and hope to see more of him in the future!

Re: Super Smash Bros. Direct Will Bring the Hype on 8th April

PanicPuppet

I feel like the whole Direct will just be showing us minor gameplay additions, changes, etc. "Now X item does this, unlike previous entries in the series!" "You will now be able to do X and Y with this move, unlike previous entries." I hope I'm wrong though.

Probably the best things that'll come out of it are a newcomer, more returning veterans revealed, and hopefully a release date.

Re: The Next Batman Game Is Arkham Knight, And No, There Won't Be A Wii U Version

PanicPuppet

I have a theory that perhaps Armature Studios is working on a Wii U version of the game. That or there'll be an Armored Edition-type of release down the road.

They'd be setting themselves up for poor sales if its strictly Xbox One and PS4, console-wise. WB games thought the Wii U had a low install-base? What about Xbox One and PS4? Tons of 360/PS3 owners are already crying about having to upgrade.

Re: Sega Unleashes Sonic Boom Behind The Scenes Video

PanicPuppet

So much great stuff! To say I'm excited would be an understatement!

Its cool to actually see the VAs at work; especially the always-great Mike Pollock. If you weren't on the hype-train before, this should definitely put you on the fence! How many times has Sonic been given a new game, TV show, and a related line of merchandise all at once?

Re: Video: These Are The Ten DS Games We Want To See On The Wii U Virtual Console

PanicPuppet

This is IMO, a dumb decision.

How will fully polygonal games look anywhere near presentable on an average TV screen? What about DS games that use both screens at the same time?

Adding GBA VC to the Wii U instead of 3DS is a terrible decision too. Just give 3DS ambassadors the shaft; as well as ones who didn't buy one at launch, but were hoping for eventual release of GBA games.

What's going on Nintendo? I don't get these announcements.

Re: The Year of Luigi Officially Ends on 18th March

PanicPuppet

I'm glad its amost over. I've been a Luigi fan for as long as I can remember, and this Year of dedication to him was cool for awhile.

But it just seems like its being forced at this point; Luigi Bros. in 3D World, Dr. Luigi, now Super Luigi Bros. We get it Nintendo, Luigi is a character.

How about Metroid, Star Fox, or F-Zero next? They're series that deserve more attention from the masses.

Re: Mother Brain Revealed As An Enormous Super Smash Bros. Assist Trophy

PanicPuppet

@BAGBOY No, Prime 3 is an 11/10 game.

I did the same with my Gamecube copies of Prime 1 and 2 also! The Trilogy collection is definitely the definitive way of playing the Prime games. I stand by the idea that Wii's control scheme is the best for FPAs or FPSs; it feels so natural.

Here's hoping we see more Prime stages and Dark Samus in some form or another in Smash 4.

@retro_player_22 There's no way her monster form would ever be playable. You just can't shrink something like that, as opposed to Ridley; who varied in size throughout the series. That'd be like having Giga Bowser as a permanent form be playable.

Kraid was in Melee, yes (probably my favorite Metroid stage in Melee) but why should only that be "his chance?" The guy's been on hold for the longest time.

Re: Mother Brain Revealed As An Enormous Super Smash Bros. Assist Trophy

PanicPuppet

@BAGBOY I see your point.

But I personally feel as though Sakurai just skims over Metroid in Smash. Samus (as far as we know) is still the only rep, most of the series' levels have been lava/acid pit areas, and there's only been one Metroid-related item.

The Prime series added so much to the franchise, and all we really got in Brawl was one stage and some trophies; Prime 3 was completely ignored and unmentioned.

If this is the extent of "new or returning" we'll be seeing for the series, I'll be disappointed.

Re: Mother Brain Revealed As An Enormous Super Smash Bros. Assist Trophy

PanicPuppet

@BAGBOY Mother Brain's been pretty obsolete since Super Metroid. Appearing only in a remake of the NES original and a cliché android plot device in Other M since.

Ridley's done much more than her, and has been in most of the games following Super Metroid. He's truly become Samus' arch-nemesis.

Besides nostalgia for older gamers, this seems a bit random. Before you say the same for Kraid; he was going to appear in Prime 1 along with Ridley. So its not as if Super Metroid would've been his last real appearance.
