Our monthly routine is here once again, as Club Nintendo in North America has finally updated its rewards with more downloadable games that can be yours in exchange for some hard earned coins.
This time around we have two Virtual Console games, a DSiWare option and a quirky WiiWare title. Check out your options below.
- Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters - 150 coins (3DS eShop) and awarded 8/10 in our review
- Number Battle - 200 coins (3DS eShop) and awarded 8/10 in our review
- Yoshi - 200 coins (Wii U eShop) and awarded 5/10 in our review
- Bonsai Barber - 250 coins (Wii Shop) and awarded 8/10 in our review
These titles will all be available until 6th April 2014, and you can check them out on the Club Nintendo site. It's worth bearing in mind that the product page indicates that Yoshi is available only as a download code for the Wii U eShop, while Bonsai Barber is for the Wii Shop (also accessible on the Wii U via the Wii Mode).
Also of note are a neat Super Mario Accessory Box and Animal Crossing 3DS pouches, so remember to check those out at the link below.
Let us know if you plan to spend any of your hard-earned coins on these in the poll and comments section.

GAH! I've had my eye on Number Battle for, like, almost two years or something. How did they know? Kind of pricey, though...
Garbage. Also, 200 points for Yoshi, really?
..............
That is all.
Also don't forget that you can get a Animal Crossing 3DS pouch or a Mario Basket!
Lame games. Although the new animal crossing pouches look nice.
Keeping my coins
OT: Super Mario Accessory Box is back! I recommend this item to those who haven't gotten one from last summer (very durable and well made).
More Year of Yoshi hints!
Is it just me, or are these games more expensive now? 250 coins is the highest price I have seen here. I don't think I will get anything.
Hey, I see two new items!
Animal Crossing 3DS Pouch (two colors) for 500 coins.
Super Mario Accessory Box for 700 coins.
Might grab kid Icarus.
HORRIBLE AND THESE GAMES AR GETTING WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!
Kinda interested in the pink Animal Crossing pouch. I don't even like Animal Crossing but I kinda hate the case I carry my 3DS in.
@Phantom_R I had it on my Wish List for like two years as well, and since it was a Nintendo game I was hoping it would show up as a reward at some point.
I finally just broke down and bought it in early February...oops.
I picked up Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters since i was planing to buy it anyways.
GB Kid Icarus is kind of cool. I loved Yoshi as a kid, for a little while, at least. It's a cool game concept, but it's a shame it's not a better game.
@Klimbatize The downside of these recent download sales is that customer confidence takes a huge dive. We hesitate until the product goes on sale, because if we buy it first, we'll just be angry when we miss the discount.
Sigh....Gone are the days of games like Majora's Mask for 150 coins....
Weak, but better than most updates.
Just grabbed the Mario accessory box.
All together now...these options SUCK! I can't really complain as its free, but still...and only Yoshi for the Wii U?
@brewsky I only remember them offering Majora's Mask as a platinum reward two years ago. Did they offer it before that?
@Than64 January 2012. When they first started offering them for a "limited time" (apparently using coins to buy games wasn't going to last long). Among the mix of four games was Majora's Mask for 150 coins. You could've registered your Wii or 3DS and got the game for free.
I'm actually getting Yoshi because after I download, I get $5 from the Digital Deluxe Promotion.
I'll Kid Icarus: M&M then I'll have all three on 3DS. Maybe I'll get Yoshi too. Since it is the only 30 cent game I missed.
What I actually don't get is why they didn't do Yoshi on 3DS. New Yoshi 3DS coming out, new Yoshi game. Not even bundled but that's whatever. Why not give the Yoshi troo a little somethin'.
Is this the first time that a Wii U game is able to be downloaded from Club Nintendo?
@Luigifan141 No. They've offered games on Club Nintendo that are available on Wii U.
@brewsky I know that Wii games can be downloaded on the Wii U, but IIRC, this is the first time where a Wii U-only game is made available. Correct me if I'm wrong!
@Luigifan141 There have been a couple of cases where games available on the Wii U eShop have been offered on Club Nintendo. F-Zero, for example.
Ugh... Can't they put nicer games for higher coins.
Bonsai Barber?!
@brewsky Ah, I see.
While there's not a single game out of the bunch that really caught my attention, I went ahead and decided to place an order for the baby blue Animal Crossing 3DS pouch.
Though, why are the prices for these monthly games and the more recent physical Club Nintendo rewards are so high? Can't they just come up with more prizes or stock more of a same prize than they're aiming for? Well, that's Nintendo of America to ya...
@Phantom_R me too! 200 coins is a little much though...hope nothing else worthwhile comes out in a while for a lot of coins (It rarely happens, but it'd be just my luck)
Im not interested in the games, the mario thing is not my style and the animal crossing things are amazing, but im not dropping points on them, so nothing for me this time
Ewwwww, Who picks these games????
Number Battles was the only one I didn't have yet, I guess now as good of time as any to get it.
Always wanted to play that Kid Icarus so I'm going for it.
And my coins go pile up again this month.
You know there are other ways to play these games if you don't want to drop your coins on them...
I think I'll walk away now.
Bonsai Barber... because why not!
Looking like it might be time to try Number Battle.
Just watched the trailer for Bonsai whatever-it's-called and it actually looks quite entertaining. Eventually I just gotta get something from Club Nintendo, otherwise these points will keep adding up and never actually get me anything.
So while people usually find something to buy or download on club nintendo I'm just here waiting for those 3DS XL charging docks, but in the mean time guess I'm keeping my coins
Love the Animal Crossing pouches and the Yoshi basket... but don't have anywhere near enough coins. Both prizes seem kind of expensive too, or is that just me?
Just logged in, hasn't updated for me yet. D:
Still pretty disappointing but I'm thinking of going for Kid Icarus since it's pretty much the only interesting thing I have seen on club nintendo for 3DS EVER!
Man, I'd totally get an Animal Crossing pouch if I didn't already have the Luigi hat pouch! No interesting games for me this time.
I can't recommend Bonsai Barber enough. It's a little quirky, but it hits that weird "enjoyment through repetition" vibe that Animal Crossing does.
Also: there isn't enough talking broccoli in videogames.
Why is the North American Club Nintendo selection so terrible compared to Japan or europe? It used to be a lot better selection than they have now too.
I'm still waiting on the 3DS XL charging docks to come back.
I'd recommend Kid Icarus to anyone it's really good for an early gb game
I'm glad I picked up 3 game holders for my 3ds games while they were still available because the game selection has been weak sauce.
Ooo! I want the Super Mario accessory box. Seems like I'll have a long day ahead of me full of filling out surveys. I really should start filling them in ASAP instead of just leaving them there. @_@;
Cool. I think I'll download both KI and Number Battle.
They've really been pushing the coin prices for games. Used to be 100-150, then it went up to 200 for good or newer games, now it's commonplace and they're pushing it even further.
Picked up that Mario canvas box..been waiting for that! I'm excited...oh yeah
Cool. More coins for me.
Those Animal Crossing pouches are the same as the EU ones only in different colours/logo's, there nice but I'd rather something a bit more solid for my 3ds...handy for loose stuff though.
@Blast: I paid either 400 or 450 coins for Metal Torrent, so these prices are cheap by comparison.
@SomeBitTripFan Really? Are you sure that wasn't a glitch or something? I picked up Metal Torrent for 100 coins, possibly 150 max.
I should have redeemed pictobits
This is...just as bad as Games with Gold!!!
Already have Kid Icarus: OMAM, and it's easily the best of the three, worth getting if anyone's on the fence about it. Number Battle looks interesting, although I already have more than enough puzzle games right now and will wait a bit longer to see if a better deal pops up.
Maybe I'll get Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters.
I was hoping for something like Mario Tennis or F-Zero X.
Maybe next moth...
[disappointed fart noise with mouth]
They've never offered Yoshi Story as a reward, I noticed.
Strange, because that would be the only time I'd get it.
Only thing that catches my interest here is the Super Mario Accessory box... which I'm about 500 coins too short to buy... sigh...
Number Battle for me, I have had it on my wishlist for a long time.
Already grabbed "Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters".
It's fun, but a little short...still pretty solid for original GameBoy.
Is Number Battle among the games that is going to lose Wi-fi capability soon? I was thinking it'd be more appealing if I could play with a friend. Its a real shame there's no local multiplayer.
KI for me this month!
Yea, it's to bad number battle wifi severs will be turned off in little bit. It was difficult sometimes to find a match but they were pretty cool when I did. AI is okay though.
And yet Club Nintendo of Australia will never get this Stuff and will be stuck with it's current range of rewards for many years to come... :L
@CaPPa Have you ever visit the Nintendo Europe site????!!!!
Nintendo Europe is and always has been far behind Nintendo America in relation to rewards, they don´t offer any download games at all in exchange for stars (we get that instead of coins).
The catalog has only lame items and are very expensive. From time to time something cool shows up but you need 7000 stars to get it. Registering a game gives you 200-250 starts (do the math) so you could think not many people would have that many but in a matter of hours they are sold out. That´s all because nobody spend their stars for years because the only thing available was keyrings, notebooks and stickers.
BTW we don´t get gold or platinum rewards either.
I´ll take Nintendo America anytime if I could
Right now all Nintendo Europe catalogs are down (maintenance), we´ll see if something nice shows up for a change. I´m sitting on almost 8000 stars that are about to expire.
Eh, nothing for me this time. Glad I spent my coins on SMRPG last month, as there's nothing for me to spend them on this month.
more trashy rewards, as usual. give us something good like Sony does.
Number Battle is one of the only DSiWare Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection titles. Everyone should download it and have some battles before it disappears.
@YT-SutibunDatsW Why should they be like ''Sony is'' ? gtfo
Wow, for the first time in Club Nintendo history I can see myself downloading all 4 of these titles.
But will I...? That is the question.
@Kitsune_Rei Wait, Number Battle doesn't have local Multiplayer? The (Japan only) retail version (Suujin Taisen) has local multiplayer, download play too so this is an odd downgrade.
Nothing for me because that yoshi game was already on promo .30 cent and I got it already.
Number Battle is a great game. i def. recommend it.
It's been months since there were any new reward games I wanted. I kind of want Nintendo to close the Wii Shop / Virtual Console so they stop offering the worst-sellers on that platform.
Bonsai Barber is a great game! I can't believe a lot of people haven't played it. It received a lot of hype from IGN because it was made by one of the creators of Goldeneye.
Anyway, the game is simple but extremely charming, and with a lot of content. Trying to get everything is challenging. Can be played with a friend. The animation and facial expressions are very funny.
I repeat, a very simple but enjoyable game, one that you can play for 15-20 minutes a day and move on. I recommend it.
This is how it needs to be:
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters - 100 coins
Number Battle - 100 coins
Yoshi - 100 coins
Bonsai Barber - 150 coins
People! This is a crazy-good list of games. Number Battle is strange and fun and challenging. Bonsai Barber is one of my favorite WiiWare titles, super-quirky and entertaining and DIFFERENT. Geez, do you all just want another Super Mario or Zelda game? That you've already played? No wonder why new IP and interesting concepts are so rare.
@NavySpheal: I looked back, and it might have been something else. My memory is kinda fuzzy, but I paid 400 coins for some game at some point.
C'mon, I was hoping for SSB or something fun like that. I don't want to end up chucking things around after I die for the billionth time in Myths & Monsters!
Is Myths and Monsters easy?
I'm gonna grab Icarus
Just got my Mario accessory box. Must say its better than I thought it would be. On a side note, it fits 18 NES cartridges perfectly.
Would love them to make more of these type of boxes in different colours and different patterns.
