Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

PanicPuppet

The Gamepad is a shining example of Nintendo's continued journey of innovating how we play videogames; the PS4 and Xbox One are the same controllers as the previous gens, just with minor tweaks. I love that every Nintendo system's had its own unique controller; its own ID if you will.

It should definitely be a priority when developing for the system; "what can we do with the Gamepad?" should be the first thing that comes up when making ports and especially exclusives. Instead of lazily adding a useless map (for example Sonic Lost World, sadly) or other unneeded visual.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Games Our Readers Would Love to See in 2014

PanicPuppet

Neither of the Metroid games, F-Zero, or Star Fox made the list? :/

I for one truly want Prime 4. Or at least another entry done by Retro Studios.

A new F-Zero should at least be a Wii U eShop title. Online multiplayer is the biggest must.

Star Fox just needs a new entry that helps expand the series beyond on-rail shooting; like what Assault did.

Re: Review: Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder (3DS eShop)

PanicPuppet

I agree with most of the review, the camera-taking process is borderline broken. My house doesn't have floodlights for lighting rooms. So I find myself going into areas like the bathroom trying to take a picture and even then the camera's lighting turns all yellow; including the object itself!

But besides that the rest of the game is full of fun, oddball characters, witty humor, charming semi-realistic graphics, and fairly enjoyable "chores."

I'm happy I finally tried one of Chibi-Robo's games.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Games We'd Love to See in 2014

PanicPuppet

Man, so many great possibilities!

I hope to see even a few of these come to be.

My top 5 on this list would be:

-Metroid Prime 4 (would love to see the Prime saga continue, as its my favorite game trilogy of all time! With Prime 3 being my favorite game of all time!)

-Metroid Dread (A 2D entry has been long overdue. It'd be great to see what Samus is up to after Fusion's events all these years later!)

-Star Fox: Battle For Corneria (although I don't know about it being strictly dog-fighting, I like substance.)

-F-Zero UX (I'd personally prefer playing an epic racing title in full HD, than on a small screen.)

-Mario & Luigi's Mansion (I could see it being be a great co-op focused sequel. Plus we wouldn't have to wait another decade for Luigi to go ghost-hunting once again!)

Re: Review: Dr. Luigi (Wii U eShop)

PanicPuppet

I'm really enjoying Dr. Luigi! One of the biggest issues for me with Dr. Mario was its more difficult approach to the Tetris-like formula. But Dr. Luigi's Operation L mode is a much more enjoyable experience if you ask me.

I highly recommend seeing the man-in-green for a prescription! (for your puzzle gaming fix that is. )

Re: Dr. Luigi announced for Wii U eShop

PanicPuppet

Really excited for this! Dr. Mario Online RX was a bit tough for me, so its great to hear it'll be easier. I'm scheduling an appointment for Dr. Luigi!

My only gripe is the price; $15 seems a little steep for both this and NES Remix. I think $10 would be a bit more reasonable IMO.

Re: Sonic Lost World Gets Patched Up On Wii U

PanicPuppet

This is great news; so glad the "100 rings equals an extra life" was brought back. A little can go a long way.

Now how about an option to re-watch all the cutscenes? I don't want to have to go on Youtube every time I want to see them again.

Re: Soapbox: Even With The Arrival Of PS4 And Xbox One, I'd Still Pick The Wii U

PanicPuppet

As many have similarly said, the reason way I love Nintendo so much is that not only do their games play well, but the worlds they create truly take you out of reality into fun, exotic places filled with memorable characters, imaginative locations, etc. etc. No one does it like Nintendo.

All Sony and Microsoft really go for is the hyper realistic, mostly gory, grim and gritty approach. Unless its downplayed or highly stylized (Red Steel 2, Goldeneye Wii, and Conduit 2 are great examples) I don't really go for those types of games.

Re: TIME Lists Its Reasons For Picking Wii U Over PS4 And Xbox One

PanicPuppet

Its about time Wii U got some positive recognition

I can honestly see Nintendo doing very well this Christmas, with everything they have to offer bundle-wise for Wii U and 3DS, as well as other systems like Wii Mini (in the US) and 2DS being recently released.

Xbox One and PS4 really don't have anything worthwhile to offer at this point; all those blind Sony/Microsoft fanboys really just want to spread negativity.

Re: New Batman: Arkham Origins DLC Arrives, Major Story-Based Content Coming in 2014

PanicPuppet

Already bought the season pass, and enjoying all the Batsuit skins! (1st Appearance FTW!)

Hopefully "Initiation" isn't as barebones as it sounds. Its supposed to come with two more skins as well; Training Bruce Wayne and Vigilante Bruce Wayne. I wonder if the Vigilante one will be him wearing a black ski mask...

As for the unknown extra story. I noticed when I got the season pass it mentioned the skins, Initiation, and something called "Cold, Cold Heart."

Makes me think of Mr. Freeze off the bat. Could it be an unintentional reveal?

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th November (North America)

PanicPuppet

I'll definately be getting 3D Space Harrier in the near future, along with Jett Rocket II and Q.U.B.E. whenever it gets released.

I'll most likely ask for a Wii U/3DS gift card for my birthday/Christmas gift. (gotta love December birthdays, right? )

Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Fourteen

PanicPuppet

Definately 3D World's cast.

Is it just me, or are the funny screen attempts not that funny? I've got a dozen Brawl screens that honestly still crack me up. Screens that include ZS Samus' foot being grabbed by Charizard, Andross enjoying a hot bath in Brinstar's lava, Lucas being hit by Samus' arm cannon in a risky position, and Luigi jumping upside-down out of the portal in the Zelda bridge stage.

Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

PanicPuppet

This simply looks like a modern masterpiece in gaming; truly a definitive title for Wii U. I can't believe all the new things, in addition to the extra content Nintendo put into this!

I know what game I'm picking up first in the future.

Re: Performance of Batman: Arkham Origins Wii U Version Compares Unfavourably to 360 and PS3

PanicPuppet

I stand by the Wii U version being the best. Its ten dollars cheaper than on other systems, and it doesn't have the sloppy (from what I've seen and heard) multiplayer mode. All versions of the game have numerous bugs, so it was obviously a failure on WB Montreal's part.

The biggest drawback is of course, the severe lack of efficient Gamepad use like in Arkham City; which is disappointing. I remember reading WB Montreal was stating they were "adding special additions to the Wii U version."

Re: Review: Batman: Arkham Origins (Wii U)

PanicPuppet

I thoroughly enjoyed this installment.

Sure there are numerous issues, like the Gamepad functions not even close to being as integrated into the game as Arkham City, or the combat not being as fluent or responsive.

I did encounter some bugs that left me staring at frozen screen numerous times frustrated, but I kept at it. The story I feel is the game's strong point. It really keeps you invested in what's occuring; leaving you in continuous suspense. There are some similarities to Nolan's trilogy. But hey, its arguably the best interpretation of Batman to grace the silver screen.

Overall, the game's got it were it counts; and any fan if the Dark Knight shouldn't pass this one up; especially if you've already played Arkham City and have been craving for more after finishing it.

8/10.

Re: Former Video Game Destination Blockbuster Video Closes Its Doors In The US

PanicPuppet

Never really went to Blockbusters back in the day, I went to Hollywood Video.

Those were fun, magical times. I remember their video/DVD aisles being HUGE; with a wide variety of genres. I got into Godzilla thanks to their Foreign Section, as well as discoverd the classic Sonic OVA movie.

Game Crazy was the best; they had much more reasonable prices on their used games, let you actually try before you buy, and didn't dump all that "sign up for such and such" junk. (I do remember getting an NP subscription from them, though.) It was saddening to see it close its doors, and become some tire store. Truly the end of an era.

Going to video stores on a friday, renting a game and/or movie then getting a pizza from Papa Murphy's next door; was heaven as a kid.

Re: Review: Donkey Kong 3 (Wii U eShop / NES)

PanicPuppet

I enjoy DK3, I play it from time to time on my Wii. Sure its a different type of game from its predecessors, but does that make it bad? The unique setting (an ape invading a greenhouse? Why not?) and addictive gameplay, make it good in its own right.

Also Stanley needs to come back! Give him a grand return to the series! (perhaps in MK8 or in SSB4) The world must know being a bugman is as cool of a job as being a plumber!

Re: Nintendo Disables Swapnote's SpotPass Service Due to Online Safety Concerns

PanicPuppet

This is ridiculous, why punish everyone for stupid acts a select group did? How am I going to talk to my 3DS friends now?

They should just shut down Miiverse as well, the administrators haven't been doing all that well lately. I've stumped upon VERY inappropriate pictures over the past months that never get flagged or reported until I do. I don't get the double standards that are going on here.

If the best they do is just ban them, then rules need to be stricter and enforced even more so.
