My poor PS5 Pro though. God of War Laufey aside, there is nothing coming that will make me buy a game over there as all the third parties I am interested in will be covered by either my Switch 2 or my MSI Claw.
@OorWullie Nintendo didn't "start with a game for their 9 year old console", they started with a game that was highly requested throughout the lifespan of said console, a new Rhythm Heaven.
That is how normal people who don't live terminally online will see it.
Switch 2 Switch 2 Pro Controller Micro SD express card Screen protector Jsaux Split protective grip and case Savage Raven thumb stick grips Whatever games you like to play.
I should add Nintendo has precedence for limiting sales with similar restrictions. Remember their preorder restrictions for the Switch 2 linked to length of time subscribed to NSO. Seemed to work pretty well.
@KoopaTheGamer @Kiz3000 Then do it for the initial hype window for preorders and immediate release windows to stop scalpers and open it up later. And then on a temporary ad hoc basis if they notice a spike in scalper activity,
Scalpers are a serious problem and no company thus far has shown any competence in stopping the scumbags from hoarding supply just to sell them on for twice the price.
Honestly, this should really be in place in the west too. In fact all console makers (Valve included) should have this in place for direct online hardware purchases.
@iLikeUrAttitude Fair. Yeah it will be interesting to see how well it runs on the Switch 1.
Side note: I played the demo last night on Switch 2 and on performance mode it is buttery smooth. I think it actually felt better to play than on my MSI Claw 8.
@Scrubelicious This would all require a level of critical thinking and nuance that the terminally online are simply incapable of.
Even the biggest con against AI tools (the environmental cost due to the data centres) is almost a solved problem with local on device models like what Apple are driving towards. It's why they seem to be behind the curve on AI but in reality given local on device models are the future of AI I would say they are ahead of the curve in some regards.
Online discourse around AI, kind of reminds me of the online discourse around "wokeness" in games; a complete lack of any real understanding of the tools and why they can be so useful to a lot of creatives even if they get abused by a comparatively smaller number of people for financial gain or some other nefarious purpose. It sucks that a middle ground is so unfashionable but welcome to 2026 I guess.
@Kiz3000 The research into demos and sales is fairly limited because from what I have seen it doesn't account for the fact that some of the biggest selling franchises opt not to have demos which would skew the data somewhat. The quality of a demo will also be a factor and any egregious performance issues and bugs.
I suspect a demo would help the sales of well made, smaller games more than the full game being on something like Gamepass day 1, but there really needs to be a more in-depth study to say for sure.
I have put over 1000 hours into the game between PS5 and PC (mostly Steam Deck and then MSI Claw 8), y'all are in for a good time if you decide to give the ludicrously generous free trial a go (seriously you now get all but one of the long 10 year story expansions up to and including Shadowbringers).
My only advice is maybe try and level a tank or healer job alongside your DPS. The DPS is for the fun obviously, the tank or healer is for dungeon queues. Summoner is a good choice because Summoner is a DPS job and you also get the Scholar healer job that levels concurrently, A two in one
@PokemonDMG "Better" is subjective. What it doesn't have are the immediately recognisable Pokemon and THAT is the draw of the Pokemon franchise, not voice acting. What people want is Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Eevee, Squirtle and the rest of the gang.
Also the English VA in Digimon isn't brilliant. Pretty standard JRPG fare. I only want VA in Pokemon if it is excellent.
@dew12333 I would strongly consider packing it in. The number of people being accused of using AI in work that is entirely their own is ludicrous. These internet reactionaries who claim to know definitively when AI is used don't even know what human art looks like to compare. A bit like AI detection software. That's all a con too.
FFS is this going to be the way for every game going forward? At what point does it stop being merely having concerns and becomes a witch hunt instead?
Some people really need to go outside and touch grass.
I'll be honest, I didn't see the issues in X that the YouTubers saw when them zoomed in to levels you would never see when just playing the game normally.
Maybe my old eyes just aren't sensitive to that stuff.
It was an objectively excellent Direct with a good variety of games on show from Switch Sports to Pokopia to The Duskbloods with much more in between. If you can't find something to play out of all that I don't know what to tell you, maybe broaden the horizons from Mario and Smash.
I'm not interested in every game shown but there was enough there that I am interested in; and that's fine, not every game will appeal to everyone.
I joked that new Xenoblade makes it a 10/10 but in all seriousness it was an excellent 9.
Everyone saying "I was expecting gameplay" are missing the point. You weren't supposed to be expecting anything. This was supposed to be the big reveal of the OOT remake but because of leaker scum, the announcement was ruined, and people had higher expectations for what they would see as a result. That isn't on Nintendo, its on the leakers who ruin everything.
More than just "solid" given the Switch has only just passed 1m in the UK and also with the fact this is a port of a game released 2 years ago on Playstation (the dominant platform in the UK).
@Dr_Corndog It isn't even just games journalism. Tech and news journalism isn't exactly nuanced when it comes to reporting on AI either. Blind glazing or blind hate is the end of the day because the middle ground is too hard/boring

Re: Latest Nintendo Direct Reportedly The Most-Watched Of The Summer Showcases
I only watched three showcases as usual:
The women led games showcase
The Wholesome direct
Nintendo direct.
My Wishlist (and bank account) hates me now.
Re: Latest Nintendo Direct Reportedly The Most-Watched Of The Summer Showcases
@Haruki_NLI Just goes to show the loudest whiners are not representative of the overall market.
Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Description May Suggest A Faithful 1:1 Remake
I don't think anything meaningful can be extrapolated from that description
Re: Talking Point: Starter Pack - What Are Your Nintendo Switch 2 Essentials?
Switch 2
Switch 2 Pro Controller
Micro SD express card
Screen protector
Jsaux Split protective grip and case
Savage Raven thumb stick grips
Whatever games you like to play.
Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Switch 2 Rating Surfaces Online
I bet Bethesda surprises you all and releases a fully functional game that runs flawlessly
Re: Kingdom Hearts Collection Switch 2 Estimated File Size Revealed
@YoshiAngemon I wish Nintendo had thought about that and made SD cards hot swappable
Re: Kingdom Hearts Collection Switch 2 Estimated File Size Revealed
@Haruki_NLI Games plural. 131gb is for the collection. That's like 7 games so it isn't that bad
Re: 32 Games You Should Check Out In Nintendo's Multiplayer eShop Sale (Europe)
I would check out some if I had friends to play with
Re: Talking Point: Switch 2 Console Special Editions - What Would You Like To See?
@spacely_sprockets A Switch 2 with an OLED screen would not be cheaper. It would likely cost more
Re: Talking Point: Switch 2 Console Special Editions - What Would You Like To See?
I would rather see Nintendo put out pro joy cons that are more ergonomic before a special edition console, but that's just me.
After all you can get third party skins to customise the looks of the console but third party joy cons lack features

Re: Preview: Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis Sees An "Unfettered" Lara Put The Survivor Era Behind Her
I never understood the hate for reboot Lara
I never completed a Tomb Raider game before the reboot because I always found Lara annoying rather than badass

I love how common demos are becoming again. They are the perfect way to try a game before you buy.

Thank god it isn't coming in September. That month looks insane
Re: Gallery: Here's How The Star Fox Demo Compares To The N64 Original
I played the demo and loved it. Controls feel great and the game is buttery smooth.
Also, side note, if you "invert" the Y axis you should be burned at the stake. I kid, I kid. Sort of
Re: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Is Joining The Sequel On Switch 2, Out This September
Koei Tecmo is doing work at the moment
They just flopped out a much needed Switch 2 upgrade for Atelier Yumia as well that got lot somewhat in all the news.

Re: Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Is Yet Another September Release
@DennisReynolds November though will be quiet for catching up for people like me with no interest in GTA 😜

@Duncanballs FFXVI was the last good FF game, what with it being the last one made
Re: Mina The Hollower Has Now Sold Half A Million Copies

Truth be told if I come way from the Direct looking forward to 1 or 2 games, it will be a success. Maybe I'm easily pleased

As usual the internet is going wild with “predictions” so I predict a lot of disappointment at 4pm tomorrow

Hoping Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 didn't announce Switch 2 on the Xbox show because Nintendo wanted it for their direct
