I got confused and read it as Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare for a second. That game saved my mental health back in 2009 when I lost my job and spent a year unemployed so I have a soft spot for it.
This is cool and down to the deal Microsoft made when buying out Activision Blizzard.
I don't think it needs a sequel, not every game does. I am perfectly happy for it to be left as a one and done. Certainly not every game needs to become a franchise. Let it be its own thing and take the lessons learned from making it into something new.
@KoopaTheGamer Yeah but think of the poor platform warriors who always need a reason to big up their own fav while crapping all over other people's fav. /s
@Jeronan It is a great controller......if you plan to just play on Steam/SteamOS. If however you like to play games from the other stores or Gamepass then you will be out of luck
@FreasurePlanten Grifters, it was grifters who were driving all the complaints about the Switch 2 increase. The same people who jump on every little thing and blows it out of proportion for clicks.
@Ooyah Yeah the Deck compatibility system doesn't tell you anything useful really about how well a game plays. I've played "verified" games that ran horribly with frequent FPS drops into the low 20s and I've played "unsupported" games that were flawless. I tend to find the community driven ProtonDB to be a better resource than the official verification system.
Think of the poor YouTube grifters. Life is so hard for them and Square Enix is just throwing them a bone here so they have something to make content about how the Switch 2 is failing when this doesn't sell particularly well
Let's put on the optimist hat for moment: what if the ludicrous price of hardware turns out to be a blessing in disguise? What if gaming hardware being so unaffordable to most people results in a shift in how games are developed and optimised to account for the fact people just aren't able to keep upgrading the hardware at the pace we have been doing? I mean I bought a Steam Deck in 2022 then upgraded to the MSI Claw 8 in 2025; I bought a PS5 in 2021 and PS5 Pro in 2025; that is honestly quite ridiculous.
Let's hope game studios see what is going in in the hardware market and shift away from graphically intense massive detailed worlds game development and deliver more stylised and focused experiences that innovate on gameplay and story telling rather than graphics and scope.
@UltimateOtaku91 It would probably make the Steam Machine DOA and possibly ruin the chances of getting other Steam hardware in the future, like the much demanded Steam Deck 2
@Serpenterror Valve has done no wrong here. Same with Nintendo, Sony and Xbox. It is just a horrible time to be selling tech thanks to tariffs and the AI bubble. I personally don't blame Valve for this any more than I did the other companies when they increased prices. It sucks but so does the market right now.
Man, the whole "drop the price" manufactured outrage really aged like milk.
At that price for a Steam Deck if you are in the market for a PC handheld you may as well spend a little extra and get a much more capable Xbox ROG Ally X, although how long the price of that holds is anyone's guess, and install SteamOS on it.
Also, this does not bode well for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. I reckon the Steam Machine will now cost $1200 USD minimum and Lord knows about the Steam Frame.
The worst of it is this isn't going to get better any time soon. Even if the AI bubble pops tomorrow, supply chains are so messed up it will take years to fix those alone. Even longer for consumers to benefit probably.
Calling this a classic Pokemon throwback does this game a disservice and a tad unfair to the people who made it. I played the demo that was on Steam and it is more than a Pokemon throwback (the reviews I am seeing from people who know the genre seem to agree with me on that). We really should stop with the reductive "this is a Pokemon throwback" type commentary when it comes to these games. I have purchased it and it is downloading now.
I'm not a huge fan of movie Bond and this is clearly based on that suave wise cracking action hero interpretation of the character rather than the deeply flawed disposable blunt weapon traumatised by his profession that Fleming wrote. I'd love a film or game that bases their interpretation of the character closer to the original book Bond character.
I think we have a tendency to forget that the character of Bond was first created amid the post war austerity of 1950s Britain.
Just a £1.50 difference for Star Fox. As someone who lives in the bowels of Northern Ireland where deliveries are a pain to wait for (Curry's may say it will arrive on release day but I have never had a preorder from them arrive on release day before), I'll just pay the £1.50 for the digital
It's a solid 8 out of 10. Once you realise the game isn't actually a platformer and that it is a game that requires curiosity, and adjust expectations accordingly there is a really charming and fun game there. Also there is actually challenge in the game, it just doesn't come from platforming or combat mechanics; it comes from using your own sense of curiosity and creativity to discover the secrets of the creatures.

As someone who doesn't like to sail the high seas to "acquire" classic games for emulation, I have to say NSO really is cracking value as a service.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mina The Hollower
@MatoFilipovic Nothing like an IGN review to turn the brains of the terminally online to mush
Glad to see a small indie game at the top of the tree on Opencritic though. It warms my cold black heart.
Re: Review: Mina The Hollower - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2) - Yacht Club Is Back With Another Masterful Love Letter
Game isn't my thing but glad to see it reviewing so well. Hope those interested enjoy it.
Re: The Witcher 3 Is Getting A New Expansion, But Not On Switch
As for the snarky sub title, the PS4 is not getting the expansion either so that isn't unique to the Switch.
Re: The Witcher 3 Is Getting A New Expansion, But Not On Switch
I suspect a Switch 2 edition (with the new expansion) is in the works but Nintendo wants to be the one to announce it in their own Direct.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews For 007 First Light Are In
Apparently the game runs well on the Steam Deck which may bode well for the eventual Switch 2 port.
