now if other games would do things like this, that would be awesome, especially (if done right) playing Skyrim while docked, make it a REAL "Hack n' Slash" blast !!!
@rjejr
under the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles picture, you did say $99 tablet only, but if i misunderstood what you meant.....
I can agree selling without a dock for a discount, sounds like a great implementation in Japan, but to sell the "tablet solo" and choose your Joy-Cons, Nintendo would be losing an assload of $$$, let's say they sell a no dock version in US, it'll probably be $250, but at $60/Joy-Con, selling the tablet for only $100, add two Joy-Cons for $220, that would be less than $250, an even bigger loss, not realistic, on the offhand they did a tablet only, Joy-Cons sold separately, they will charge no less than $150-$175
@Fake-E-Lee Ah yes, ye ol' flyer passers, I always take it and without missing a beat I smile and very eagerly say "Thanks, I'm out of toilet paper !!!"
@Mopati yah, you know what the whole memorization factor brings in, or more precisely takes out ??? the replayability factor, it is so tremendously frustrating that hurts it as is, but add memorization and it kills the replayability, at least how other predictable games keep their replayability is they are usually not too serious and/or have a lot of variety available in its content, I have some games like this, but I refused to pay any major money for them, I call them "Toilet Paper Games", they end up being crap and when you're done, there's nothing left but a worthless husk, so you toss it and never use again.
@rjejr I'm sure you will never see a $100 Switch, I could see a possibility of the permanently affixed controllers, no tv/dock capabilities for $200 though, not for me personally
but a "tablet only" version would bring up some pretty bad issues...
1: most all of the games now and in the Switch future will require use of the Joy-Cons, so it would majorly isolate these new Tablet Only purchasers from a huge library
2: not many game publishers are going to want to make games for a system that nobody is going to buy
3: the only way to make the T.O. Switch plausible is to give it tablet capabilities like full on apps like a real tablet and when consumers of the real Switch see those, they will NOT flock to get the T.O. Switch, they will demand Nintendo update their Switch's to allow those functions, Nintendo will be forced to do it and then no one will want the T.O. Switch anyway
4: a T.O. Switch's inability to be backwards compatible with real Switch games being bad enough, but Nintendo would force software producers to have highly prioritized apps and charge them extra $$$ for the privilege, which will trickle down to the consumer...you, there will be a limited amount of apps because of this and people will say "why did i waste my money on this ???", plus like 9/10 houses have more than one tablet and/or tablet smartphone already, so again, why would anyone really want a highly restricted, tremendously limited system when they either already have a great tablet or can get a great one capable of 20x more things for $100 ???
well I most certainly hope it's for the Switch, no offense to Wii U owners, but the Switch has been out for over a year and a half, and by the time the game is made it'll probably be 3 years, Nintendo needs to keep interest up and going overboard for a bad system that has been dying for a long time is bad for business, they got LoZ:BoTW, and some other games, but it's time to let the next gen take the reigns of this horse fully, I still say keep supporting the 3DS for at least another 4 years+, let those who bought new ones not feel so left out. but make the new one for the Switch
looks like another $20 game being marketed as more interesting than it actually is, I can't say for sure, but I can still say it is a game worth no more than $20
@Tyranexx it wouldn't necessarily kill the "play anywhere" aspect, there are a buttload of places like coffee shops, some fast food, book stores and many other places with free wifi, many don't even require a purchase, you could still stop off somewhere, or (not the best idea) you could use your cellphone as a hotspot, but inherently, the nature of the game kind of restricts you from true portability anyway even if you had 100% autonomy somehow, an MMO is really something you have to set down and really put your time into and moving around every few minutes, getting up, going to wherever, ect would prove too tedious, so even on a portable, an MMO, (any MMO) would not be viable for portable playtime
I mean if they put the main operators on a 32GB cartridge and bundled it with a generic 128GB micro sd card (where you download the rest of the game), I'm sure most people would shell out an extra $20 for the game without a second thought
and if you're up to it, I use and resell 256GB & 512GB micro sd cards for $25 & $40 respectively, they are no name, China, but i test them and properly format them before I send them, they work perfectly unlike what most people are told and worry about, so there is no reason to spend $50, $100, $300+ on any memory card
I'm not advertising myself, I'm just saying that the bad rap generic cards get are just bad publicity started by big companies mostly, if you knew how much it costs the big companies to make those big storage cards, you would think what they sell them for is obscene
Never saw the point of this game, I mean, (for me) it takes away from the Sonic games, most of the Sonic games is about running around as fast as they can doing whatever the goal at the moment is, they they took them off their feet and put them in Karts, frankly I saw it from the first one, they were just trying to ride on the coattails of Mario, Mario games were mostly highly varied but concentrated on jumping, stomping, powerups, ect. (but far different than Sonic games), so when they added Mario Kart to the roster, it really did add to the franchise, Sonic Racing doesn't actually add anything, just changes the method of how they do the same thing
Nintendo could also be giving incentives to the company, even with the firmware updates, the models of Switch that were produced and shipped Before July/2018 are more hackable due to some electronic architectural setup, it was fixed by August/2018, but the number of hacking products is still increasing in popularity, but take the older systems off the market and replace them.....
yes, that would be a great benefit to Nintendo and other software companies as well as GameStop's business as well
since you're supposed to wear your strap when playing games with the remotes separated from the base, unless you are standing 24" away from the screen, you shouldn't hit anything
I like the look, but how realistic is it, much of the game does have simultaneous button touching, these wrist gauntlets kind of make that cumbersome, plus there are some more precise turns and twists of the the controls themselves that would also be prevented.
it may sell good at first, but then will become the next LABO very quickly
@LightBeam Numbers wise, true Pokemon will outsell Metroid, but only because it has a broader fan base, Metroid Prime games play to a more specific "FPS" fan base, but I think percentage wise, Metroid will stay on par with Pokemon, even if they are released in the same month, because of their difference
how it this supposed to differ from most of the other Pokemon games, they effectively are RPG's with the added function of trading and battling other players,
so what is the company adding/taking to make it a more pure "RPG" ???
it just dawned on me......look at the BACK of the box, it has no print, no warnings, no pictures of contents of the box or even the Nintendo logo.......the tiny Switch logo in the bottom left does not count, there is NOTHING that regular and bundles from e boxes of Switch's past, present and future show
The pictures of a regular grey Joy-Con Switch may be real, but since when does Nintendo NOT put data, pictures and their Logo on the back of their packaging, even the ESRB always appears on front, back and at least on side, curious ??? they have not left these bits of info out once in over 32+ years
just a bunch of thumbnails of some fighters ???
plus, other people on ebay selling the same item, also trying to over charge.......many of the pics are the exact same used, found a couple of sellers using the pic that has the MegaMillions ticket on it,
and on the left side of the box (if facing you) is a solid black Smash Bros. logo, but look at the bundles for other games, including the upcoming Pokemon Let's Go bundle, it has print and a more recent addition, a red bar at the bottom, it's the Nintendo Direct notice, you think Nintendo's going to leave that out ???
Hmm....
@Elfhamf12
Nintendo makes contracts with retailers and product testers that products will not be released on the market before a specified time, under penalty of major lawsuit, and if this guy is breaking those contracts (assuming he did legally acquire the product), he would be breaking that contract and could be sued for all he's worth and more, so he actually better hope it's a stolen display he scammed
It would have been better for this type of review to include the asking price, it has a very favorable tone, yet includes statements that could really affect the person who was on the fence, "short on length and content", well, sounds like could be decided on price
I know I don't want to pay too much for a game like this
Where do they come up with these stupid titles ???
my 9 year old daughter is an Uber Hardcore Pokemon fan and even she thinks the titles of the Pokemon movies are lame, she saw this one and sad (quote) "Geeeze dad (snicker), is this Pokemon or My Little Pony ???" (then makes the spitting motion.....she's Italian too, LOL)
besides, ANY movie or show without my buddy from the Bronx...Meowth (Team Rocket) ain't worth watchin anyway
as much as I didn't like the Resident Evil movies, they seem to have enough of a fanbase it can't be too bad, DOOM was terrible and I've seen several others, but there will be no videogame to live action movie conversion than "Super Mario Bros.", it was SOOOOOOO horrible, you can't even get a laugh from trashing or trolling it, it wasn't bad, it was embarrassing on a quantum level !!!
if aliens came to Earth to say high and watched "The Thing", "War of The Worlds" & "The Day The Earth Stood Still", they would laugh and raise a glass of beer with us, but if they Saw SMB........well, it's been nice knowing you all !!!
Damn, those dragons didn't even look CGI, they looked like the plastic figures we use in table top RPG games, hell, anyone remember "Dragonslayer" (1981), that damn thing looked like a real life dragon, and it was a puppet, this is 37 years later and they are trying to put THAT on the screen ???
Sheeeeeeeeeeeit, he gonna lose his cred and never make another movie again
whoever created this dummmy thing is "NUTS" (Really bad pun very intentional !!!), just his appearance is gut Wrenching, I better Bolt outta here before these puns get any worse !!!
I have seen some cool Pokemon, I have seen some sorry ones, but this is definitely in the top three along side "Chargabug" & "Alola Exeggutor"
you wanna talk politics and sociology, do it in the general chat or Facebook, don't be trying to bring everyone else down with you, now keep that crap out of here !!!
could be a display stolen from a GameStop, some of those SOB's can get pretty sneaky, they don't always read the sometimes very cleverly worded description, and when the bidder sees a certain price, he/she gets in a certain state of mind... like when you see Mario Kart for only $5.00, most likely it will say "Case Only" somewhere, but sometimes you see it between $15-$20 with a description similar to "like new, case matches Mario Kart cartridges", people see the higher prices and assume "no one would sell a case only for so high"
I've seen scams like this before, nothing new and won't ever end
@CQCumber there are some 3.5mm Bluetooth transmitters and transceivers online and in some big chain stores like Wal-Mart and Best Buy, some are not very expensive at all, some of the 3.5mm jack units are pretty small and light and sit right on top of the Switch without adding any weight hardly, I love mine
forgive me if this very stupid question has been asked.....it says can use with a Bluetooth transmitting dongle connected to the dock and will transmit even when the Switch is NOT docked (stop me if I misunderstood that part), so I ask....
how does the audio output data get from the Switch to the dock remotely ???, we know the Switch DOES have Bluetooth, so is the dock hooked into the Switch when hooked to a power source ??? if so, why go through the maze of craze and just transmit directly to other Bluetooth headsets ???
@Balta666 I imagine as teaching programming using the Switch goes, FAZZ has the right idea, multiple languages including C++, that's a good way to start
@Anti-Matter I cannot comment personally, since I've only played once, and I am NOT a pianist, but it seems to me it was the right idea, but the games/apps it came with were crap, and you cannot just expect most people to want to learn how to make their own, it's way over priced, people expect a certain amount
@teamFUZE So it's not unrealistic I could make a clone of Legend of Zelda: ALTTP ??? I was thinking of a Legend of Zelda: Zero Mission type remake of LoZ 1
I have always been a huge hater of LoZ 2: Adventure of Link, but perhaps it could be a map, reboot it using the BoTW engine and added content
I have been a solid hater of LoZ 2 for many reasons since it was first release, it was a wasted Mario type game, but lots of people loved it, and with Zelda being very popular in 3D form, it might actually work and I think I would like to see it
@Zequio I will agree, for the size of the world, it was very empty and not enough enemy re-spawning either, a couple more towns and not required side quests would not hurt my feelings either
I would like to see a LoZ: ALTTP/LoZ: ALBW come to Switch at some point,
but most part I'm happy with a LoZ: BoTW game except for one thing....
Get rid of the destroyable weapons (excepts for sticks and other non-weapon weapons), that system affected how much fun the game was for me, it should not have been put in, in the first place !!!
you know what, i think people have been using the "Metroidvania" tag way to freely, I have been playing Metroidvania games for well over 30 years and most classifying themselves as such (especially recently) are not, I think the phrase needs to be reclarified, there are many semi-open world side-scrollers, but that does not make it a Metroidvania, those are a more serious game, sometimes somber and with aspects of ARPG's, from this video, this is NOT an MV class game, it has become a marketing term in the last 5+ years especially
@CaPPa I won't argue about price, I love Lego games like crazy, but $30 for the games less than a year and $20 over a year was usually the regular for pricing, this $50-$60 is total crap
I can't judge it too harshly without a little more to look at, a vid would be nice, but if I was going to judge based solely on the pics provided, I'd hope they don't expect more than $5 per sale

I cannot comment personally, since I've only played once, and I am NOT a pianist, but it seems to me it was the right idea, but the games/apps it came with were crap, and you cannot just expect most people to want to learn how to make their own, it's way over priced, people expect a certain amount

???
Re: Nintendo Labo Is Rolling Out In Classrooms Across The US And Canada
I had two kids, and I have lived in many states and a few countries over my life, even kids of today make me wonder....
does an audience between 8-11 have the ability for this type of endeavor ???

@HalBailman
I think "Castleroid" might not go over well, it sounds like something that requires a medicated cream to relieve
Re: AtGames Disappoints Again With The Bandai Namco Flashback Blast
Give me a 3DS & a Stargate and I'll be just fine
Re: FUZE4 Nintendo Switch Will Let You Code Your Own Games On Switch From April Next Year
@teamFUZE
So it's not unrealistic I could make a clone of Legend of Zelda: ALTTP ???
I was thinking of a Legend of Zelda: Zero Mission type remake of LoZ 1
Re: Poll: Surprise! A New Zelda Is In Development, But What Do You Want From It?
I have always been a huge hater of LoZ 2: Adventure of Link, but perhaps it could be a map, reboot it using the BoTW engine and added content
I have been a solid hater of LoZ 2 for many reasons since it was first release, it was a wasted Mario type game, but lots of people loved it, and with Zelda being very popular in 3D form, it might actually work and I think I would like to see it
Re: Poll: Surprise! A New Zelda Is In Development, But What Do You Want From It?
@Zequio
I will agree, for the size of the world, it was very empty and not enough enemy re-spawning either, a couple more towns and not required side quests would not hurt my feelings either
Re: Poll: Surprise! A New Zelda Is In Development, But What Do You Want From It?
I would like to see a LoZ: ALTTP/LoZ: ALBW come to Switch at some point,
but most part I'm happy with a LoZ: BoTW game except for one thing....
Get rid of the destroyable weapons (excepts for sticks and other non-weapon weapons), that system affected how much fun the game was for me, it should not have been put in, in the first place !!!
Re: Hard West - Complete Edition Will Bring Its Supernatural Wild West Action To Switch
is it just me or does this look and sound like the DC Jonah Hex comics ???
YAWN !!!
Re: Cat-Based Metroidvania A Purrtato Tail Is Clawing Its Way To Switch Next Year
you know what, i think people have been using the "Metroidvania" tag way to freely, I have been playing Metroidvania games for well over 30 years and most classifying themselves as such (especially recently) are not, I think the phrase needs to be reclarified, there are many semi-open world side-scrollers, but that does not make it a Metroidvania, those are a more serious game, sometimes somber and with aspects of ARPG's, from this video, this is NOT an MV class game, it has become a marketing term in the last 5+ years especially
Re: Review: LEGO DC Super-Villains - Proof That It's Good To Be Bad
@CaPPa
I won't argue about price, I love Lego games like crazy, but $30 for the games less than a year and $20 over a year was usually the regular for pricing, this $50-$60 is total crap
Re: Review: Super Hyperactive Ninja - Even A Massive Cup Of Joe Can't Save This Middling Effort
I can't judge it too harshly without a little more to look at, a vid would be nice, but if I was going to judge based solely on the pics provided, I'd hope they don't expect more than $5 per sale
