@SirPrimalform yeah, I know for a fact that some of the users are using it within legal bounds. However, just because something’s legal doesn’t mean Nintendo has to let you do it. You can get banned from their servers for cheating online, which isn’t illegal. If you don’t play fair online, you don’t play online at all. If you’re playing their games through means they don’t approve, then you can’t play those games at all

@joehendrey it’s true that Nintendo’s solution is not ideal, but given that people using MIG cartridges for reasons within the law are probably in the minority, and even less that are going to lose their original and have to use the backup, I think it’s a good way to get rid of pirates.
And about Nintendo not deciding the punishment…you think the courts are going to have time to prosecute every single person who pirates a switch game? If you’re using their products illegally, they have every right to not let you use their products. At least that’s my opinion

@chrisrlink I do think that that’s a big issue, and I wouldn’t discourage from buying used, actually. I usually try to buy a console used, in fact. I just think that the buyers and/or companies when they get a purchase/return, they should check the system first. It shouldn’t be that hard to turn the system on, and if it’s bricked then return it to the seller, or don’t except the return. All it requires is for the people to be a bit more vigilant

@Slideaway1983 I totally see that a third option might be best, but as you said, how you use them is probably in the minority. I feel like people act like if you buy something physical you’re entitled to it even if you lose it. When you buy a physical switch game, you’re not paying for access to the game like you are with digital, you’re paying for the physical cartridge and that alone. If you tend to lose cartridges then you can always buy digital or buy a replacement for a lost one. I’m not trying to be mean, but you are copying their game without their permission

Re: Former Rockstar Dev Throws Shade At Mario Kart World, Says New GTA Will Be Worth The Price

@thaimbomb but you don’t have to buy it physical. And to be clear, I’m not defending Nintendo upping their prices. I think MKW certainly doesn’t look like it’s worth $80. All that I meant was, you can’t bash Mario kart for its lack of “realism” because I think everyone understands that unlike GTA which is supposed to be in a realistic city, Mario kart is…Mario, since when has Mario been realistic? You can’t bash a game’s price and then tout your own just because of one random advantage (if you could even call it that)
