@Braok Oh yeah, Red and Blue can not be enjoyed as much as they used to. People that still say that are thinking back of the joy and excitement of getting a new Nintendo IP and not knowing how the system really works. Younger generations will say the same about their first jump into the series (i.e. Ruby and Sapphire).
I would like Game Freak to fix the type advantage so that a fire type does not always get knocked out by a water gun. I know that the held items help a bit with that.
@pip_muzz I am in the same boat. I skipped all the 3DS ones and the Sword and Shield seems like a new coat of fresh paint. When looking back at the 3DS ones, I can see why people are saying there is not much in progress. But hey, Game Freak delivers and usually makes the upcoming games tie in nicely with the current ones.
@WesEds Agreed. Wooly World is cool in style though. Paper Mario color Splash is very similar to Origami King (compare the two endings and you will know).
Sonic Lost World.......Sonic I love you and the game was unique but we need you to evolve man.
Stage wise this is cool. It means they might surprise us with something down the line. Personally I am hoping for a boss rush with Tabuu, Porky, and maybe even DJ Octavio.
@WoomyNNYes True. The past article with the Suikoden spiritual successor shows how developers really weigh in whether or not they should make something for the Switch. For them to say they rather release to a potential Switch 2 shows how Switch is not their priority right now (even though it is selling big).
In terms of franchises, Nintendo seems to have improved quality over quantity. But I feel all franchises have taken time to develop sequels. Ratchet and Clank had 4 games on the PS2 but only one on the PS4. It seems that AAA games are taking longer to develop.
However, if you want something like My Hero Academia then you will get sequels close together without much change in quality.
@GameOtaku Yeah, this looks like another physical cartridge version with updated DLC but not all the DLC. If fighting games are going this route then why even have a physical version?
@AmethystLeslie I never played the Crystal version but it did pique my interest. It just makes me wish that Nintendo made a cartoon series with these characters. I don't know why they stopped at Origins and Generations. I thought they would be motivated to do more.
I always feel that the originals and the Johto journeys were just two parts. You need to play both for the full experience. They are probably on my top list.
@Tendogamerxxx I think it may not be polished. The art style is blocky rather than a mix of 2D art and 3D. You seem to just fight in semi open worlds instead of getting a true open world.
@Air-Dog Ditto with the bots idea. That's is what makes stuff like Smash, Mario Kart, TimeSplitters, and Power Stone so much fun (especially when you are playing on your own for a bit).
@Ashunera84 I think it was more of the idea that Nintendo was quiet for sooo long and then they hit the audience with a quick announcement to only be about two games. I think people were expecting a year plan for Nintendo or something.
This was on the same level as the second Pokemon announcement. They need to say that, "Hey this announcement is for just two games." I think people will be more understanding than just be quiet for long time and then hit with a presentation.
@SuperWeird Yeah, I felt that could have been done. Maybe for at least four characters and then an alternate costume for each one (i.e. Dragon Quest). I wonder if the pandemic really halted that idea. On the other hand, since the Dragon Quest characters all have the Toriyama design, their faces look similar. In Arms everyday has a different expression. Yet, the Kooplings are all different and they are in.
@Anti-Matter I don't know. Ninjala does not have the rhythm base game that Kingdom Hearts is sooooooo well know for. That is why we are only getting a rhythm based Kingdom Hearts game. The best part of it.
I don't mind past generations, I mean now. How do you feel about the PS4? I feel that it can totally run that Ratchet and Clank game. It can even handle a new Horizons game.
Whoah! There are no releases for PS4 or Xbox One! The companies must be asking developers to push for the newer systems so that people can buy them. I wonder how many games will start doing that?
@Chlocean I would say it is a good template for a Sonic game. @Rarefan is correct in saying it is glitchy but that is because there is no refinement due to the many teams they had to put in.
@NEStalgia Right on. I have two suggestions for Sonic.
1. Go back to the Sonic Heroes template. That template translated the 2D to 3D idea so well. Just don't focus on so many teams or there will not be a chance to refine the system. Sonic Heroes is not perfect but it can be refined with less teams.
2. Open world like you said. Have Sonic be able to run around but not necessarily boost all the time to skip out on exploration. Maybe include Tails and Knuckles as playable characters to help Sonic fly and dig around. This would mean less Sonic games due to focus on creativity but that is better than having a lackluster Sonic game every year.
Sonic Forces was a straight line for 99% of the levels. My deal with SEGA is not the Twitter accounts but developers stepping back and saying, "Is this trash?" Didn't anyone step back from the Werehog stages and say, "This is slow and tedious. I want to run some more." (Or at the very least make the Werehog stages fun run levels with destructible stages). Didn't anyone step back from Sonic and the Secret Rings and Black Knight and say, "This is very constricting, let us kick out the on-the rail stages and make levels free with Sonic exploring his new powers." Is there reflection at all? I feel the developers becoming more serious on their work is more important.
@NEStalgia I agree. If SEGA went the total serious route then Sonic Mania would have been just a dream and Sonic Forces would have killed the franchise.
They can do this? What about the Sonic Advance series? Where are the Ninja Turtle compilations? Where is the Disney Afternoon games that the other systems got even though they were all NES titles?????? Is this Bizzarro world? I must be living in Bizzarro world.
I think the models are fine (maybe a bit more motion). I would have liked a gang like Team Rocket and Giovanni in there. Even someone like Guzma would have been great.
@Krockman I think this is the Ninetendo fanbase showing their rage. However, the pre-selected comments from past Nintendo online games has conditioned us to show our anger pleasantly.
I don't know. I might be interested if it was a Pachinko machine
I am joking. This is exciting and the cartoony nature is reminding me of Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and Rocket Knight. I grew up with those awesome Konami games and still believe they got the ability to recreate those times again.
