Bandai Namco, Hasbro, Outright Games and UK developer Coatsink have announced a new Transformers video game, and it's coming to Switch.

Transformers: Battlegrounds will offer both single-player and multiplayer action as Optimus Prime and the Autobots regroup to fight off the menace of the evil Megatron and save planet Earth. There's little info on how the game will play, but it looks like it could have a tactical leaning.

Terry Malham, CEO of Outright Games, had this to say:

The TRANSFORMERS franchise is one of the most enduring and recognizable in the world of entertainment. It’s an honour to work with this beloved universe and these iconic characters to create a new and exciting TRANSFORMERS console game that families can enjoy together.

Mark Blecher, Hasbro SVP Corporate Strategy and Business Affairs, added:

TRANSFORMERS: BATTLEGROUNDS is a new and authentic take on what a TRANSFORMERS video game can be. It’s exciting for us to bring the epic story of the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons to life for a new generation of fans on console.

Transformers: Battlegrounds will launch October 23rd on Nintendo Switch. It's also coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
