Reanimal devs doing some scummy stuff. Releasing a super short game, they already have content ready to go as a dlc they'll be dropping in a few months. They took a game and divided it up and will be trying to sell us different pieces repeatedly. Greasy!
I'm with the wait for a sale crowd on this one. Too expensive for a 5 hour game. 20-30 hours is the sweet spot for a game Imo, though a resident evil that can be done in 12 or so hours is also acceptable. Short games need short game pricing.
After waiting what felt like my adult life for MP4, it has not lived up to the hype. I'm nearing the end of my plauthrough and it just doesn't have that sense of exploration the others do. Just feels like menial tasks I keep getting badgered to do by Miles. The silent desert just riding around crashing through green crystals... When I'm done I am gonna sell it and never look back. Might not ever buy a metroid prime game again. We shall see.
This game is speaking my language on all fronts, it looked so cool and I was stoked. Then I played the demo on steam and yeah... It feels super arcadey with the gun pickups that have limited ammo. The hacking was boring. All in all what a let down, I will not be purchasing it now when it releases and I was all in up to this point.
I am slightly interested in the yakuza games. But there so many and with different titles and numbering systems, it's just too much to decide from so I don't.
Still chugging through my playthrough and I'd say the linear aspect of the biomes along with the companion NPCs, particularly the girl who just fangirls samus the whole time, are the weakest parts. It plays well, and it's a compelling enough story, but I'm just not feeling the exploration aspect metroid is known for. I don't mind Sol valley and finding stuff in there. It's far from a failure, but equally far from a masterpiece. 7/10 is an extremely fair score as of how far I am, which I suspect is closing in on the finish line.
@HalBailman I played the og when it released back in the day. The best part of remastered was having a modern control scheme so you don't feel trapped in the character you're trying to play. Classic controls were bad for this game.
@MoldyPasta yeah I actually am. Cronos also runs on the switch 2 and it looks phenomenal. I was expecting more out of a first party Nintendo game. But like I said, it's very clear this was a switch one game they just buffed up a bit and not a ground up, designed for the switch 2 game so I think better things are coming for sure.
@Drnsnsr I have a high end tv, thanks for the suggestion. Prime 4 does not look great compared to what it should. Lots of rough textures and that hand when you're scanning with the psychic visor looks very bad. Keep lying to yourself if you want to.
Just started this one the other day and so far I'm enjoying it. I was very disappointed in how it looked. I was expecting an absolute showstopper for the switch 2, and it's very apparent this is a switch game with a switch 2 glow up. It doesn't look any better than prime remastered as a whole and the "Nintendo switch 2 edition" branding actually makes a lot of sense now. Anyways, once I got past that fact, it's a very fun game, but I'm in the Myles Mackenzie has gotta go camp, him telling me where to go and the path to get there is not ideal.
Gamestop's preorder bonuses are getting lame as hell. For pre ordering MP4 they gave me my "gift" it was a slightly larger cardboard picture of the front of the Nintendo switch game case cover, complete with all the writing and everything. I asked the guy if I would be an ***** if I just left it and didn't want it and he agreed it was a stupid thing. Now we're getting a bag.... Remember when they used to be at least somewhat cool?
I struggle to tell the difference between fps. The only time 30 ever felt clunky was when I would play starfield on my laptop at 140fps+ then play on my Xbox at 30. The sensation only lasted for about twenty mins then it felt normal again. It's wild that the quality mode on this game is 60, while performance ramps up to 120 on console. Wow. I'll defo be playing quality at a frame rate far above what I normally play games at.
@topsekret I'd argue the only perk is the storage control. I'm not worried in the slightest about 30 years in the future when the game may, or may not be unavailable. The ones I truly want to keep and play again I'll probably keep installed anyway so it's a moot point.
@topsekret physical only player here, and it's been a great generation for me too. Digging into Cronos since it just had its physical release. You should try it!
@KevinP I bought the controller for myself, so no, I treated myself to an overpriced product that I wanted. If it's not worth it to you, then don't buy it but don't try to make someone feel bad about buying something they like.
@Fake-news except..... When you buy a game, play it, sell it to someone else who wants to play it and on and on, you actually reduce waste and everyone saves a little money. Actually a much better system.
Anyone play the batman arkham series? Well, first two were sick. And in the third one they added in the batmobile. The driving parts were lame as hell and they tried to shoehorn it into pretty much any part of the game. I think that game would have been so much better if they axed the car, and I hope mp4 does not leave me feeling the same way.
Well on the plus side, nothing worth buying from this direct this year minus metroid in December. Everything else is next year so I'll have some time to finish up wind waker and a few game pass titles dropping next month like Ninja gaiden 4 and outer worlds 2.
Depends. I found having to use the touch screen to emulate the Wii gimmicks offputting for switch with 3d all stars. If they fixed that stuff, I might give it another go. If it's just ported across with all the Wii mechanics in place, pass.
@N8tiveT3ch just seems disingenuous to say it sucks, is horrible and a waste of time if your only real gripe is you don't like the world. At its core it's a tight performing metroidvania platformer that sticks to that script very tightly, so if you're a fan of the genre I think you're just making bombastic statements to incite fans of the series.
@N8tiveT3ch sounds like you hate platformers. Not sure why you'd play a genre you dislike then act like the game sucks as a result. I strongly dislike rogue lites or whatever, but you don't see me saying hades blows.
Might have just sold me on this. Used to be a star wars nut in my younger days but the absolute dilution of quality with the never ending star wars content had me out. Being set during the empire and Jedi returns is a big selling point, I loved that era.
Also, why does anyone honestly care about game key cards? For all your uses and purposes it is exactly like a full game on cart, oh, minus the fact that it actually runs faster since it can read off your system faster than it can off a cartridge.
Game looks alright. Name is horrible. People need to stop complaining about game key cards. Who. Cares. You'll get a cartridge that you'll use to install and play the game with alllll the same resale options. It's not a big deal.
There was a time in my younger days when anything star wars would have immediately grabbed my attention, but the over saturation of content and introduction of cast and characters that I really juat don't give a hoot about, makes it so seeing star wars is... Meh. How much of that is due to my getting older and how much is due to the new stuff actually stinking more is up for debate, either way this one didn't move the needle for me
All I'm gonna say is that Nintendo can either release wwhd, metroid prime 2/3 remastered (or just ported) and sell them to me, or else I'll find...... Alternate ways to play them for free.

Well, another switch 2 option means I'll be getting it there. Cronos looks great on it and I can only assume requiem will as well.

Well. I pre ordered it anyway, price be damned. I've loved resident evil since the og on ps1. Treated myself.

What a farce. Embarassing use of the IP to squeeze some microtransaction money out of some people with a lame mobile game. This is shameful.

Will definitely be buying Cronos on my switch 2. Game key card, who cares. It's just not available in physical form yet so I have to wait a month.
