I was interested when I read "Metal Slug" but then I saw "Metroidvania" and my eyes glazed over.

Christmas morning and I'm already checking Nintendolife. Happy Chrimbo y'all!

I bought it based on the Nintendolife review and played it at hospital whilst waiting up with my newborn boy. Such good memories and such a fantastic game.

Into The Breach awarded, well deserved - total surprise for me and one of my favourite games.

God dammit it's a game with some boobs in it, get some perspective people. Movies and music videos have been sexualized for years.

@Mountain_Man Thanks. Also a consideration as I've run out of internal memory so will finally need to get an SD card. Or maybe I'll archive Hollow Knight as I just can't be arsed with it.

Loved Top Gear, especially the soundtrack. When I read it was the same composer my interest was piqued. Once I'm done with Into The Breach I'll give this a shot.

That built-in kickstand is such crap. Why is it off-centre? I love the Switch as a console but that is such a strange design choice.

Happy with this, thanks EA. I've played a tonne of FIFA 18 on Switch after initially not really liking it (I'm a huge PES fan). It has a good atmosphere and manager mode is great.

Looks brilliant. We're long overdue a new one of these - far too many 2D "metroidvania" types clogging up the eShop. I used to spend ages playing 2 player Turtles in Time, Streets of Rage and even that Simpsons arcade game.

Damn it actually looks really good. I'm struggling for time as it is trying to finish Celeste and Mario Oddessey. First world problems huh.

@Krull That's a great idea, I'd love to see a follow up to Golf Story with another sport. Tennis would be a good one, but also maybe pool or football.

@OorWullie It is weird right - what's with all the "ROM hack" comments @YamAsereht? Almost as dull as all that 60FPS b*llocks people whinge on about. Almost.

@OnBeingHuman I find the idea of labelling everyone in a particular generation as easily offended offensive.

Absolutely brilliant, especially for the low price over Chrimbo. And so many (local and online) multiplayer options. Other developers should take note! @Nincompoop, couldn't give a stuff about 60FPS or whatever when it plays this good.

@Socrfan I read that as well. I was just a little dubious - "from scratch" to me is a blank sheet of paper, when clearly this wasn't. Of course I could be wrong.

Oh good God YES. I had Burnout 2 on Cube and it was one of my favourite ever games. Also loved Need for Speed on Wii U which I think was by some of the same guys? Anyway, really hope this happens!

@Socrfan A new O/S doesn't necessarily mean a new game engine (hence when a game is "ported" to a new console or Windows etc). I have played both Switch and Wii U versions and they do seem very similar in feel so it wouldn't surprise me if there was some re-use from that code.

My career mode game gas just reported that my team (Millwall) have just won the playoffs and gained promotion even though I have a) not been promoted yet, and b) haven't started the playoffs.
Also the difficulty jumps too far when you go from Amateur to the next one up (Pro). Which was a problem with the Wii U game also. Which leads me to believe that this is based on the Wii U game engine.

Seriously what's the big deal with buying the back catalogue of old games? If they were that good you wouldn't have thrown them away.
