VooFoo Studios has announced that it is bringing its top-down racer Mantis Burn Racing to the Nintendo Switch eShop.
Already a critical hit on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam, Mantis Burn "combines real-world ‘fun’ physics with intuitive controls in highly competitive ‘one-more-go’ style races that players of all ages and abilities can enjoy." That's VooFoo's words, not ours, but having played a bit of the game on PS4 we have to say we agree with the sentiment.
Mark Williams, Technology Director at VooFoo Studios, adds:
Mantis Burn Racing’s addictive pick-up-and-play style game play has already been very well received on PS4, Xbox One and Steam. The game’s broad appeal and addictive couch multiplayer make it a great fit for the Nintendo audience and we can’t wait to give Switch players the chance to play the definitive version of the game at home or on the move.
Mantis Burn boasts an RPG-style upgrade system, 4-player local split-screen racing (in both docked and tabletop modes) and online multiplayer options for up to 8 players. The Switch version will also benefit from additional downloadable content packs, such as ‘Battle Cars’, ‘Elite’ Class vehicles and ‘Snowbound’ tracks.
If you're planning on going to EGX in the UK this week then you'll be able to go hands-on with the Switch version of the game in the Rezzed area.

Superb, this looks quality. I loved top down racers back in the day.
Another game is good even if it's yet another port.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE That's surprising, coming from you.
fantastic. love the look of this
This was the first PS4 Pro game that runs in real native 4K, but no one seems to care about it at PS camp.
I have greater hopes that this title will live up to the "definitive" title. It's cool that the Switch is getting another racing game, though! That genre was rather dry during the Wii U days.
Looks cool.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Have a day off will ya.
Very very fun and underrated game. Not sure if I will double dip but it is a super fun time for sure!
This will be our Micro Machines for now.
This looks legit.
A perfect game for the hybrid system. Plugs a genre gap nicely.
This looks alright.
Great News! I really wasn't sure what interesting surprises today would hold.
@crackafreeze Exactly what I thought when I saw it
Nice, reminds me of a modern version of Rock n Roll racing
3 new games announced just today. We ain't in Wii U-ville any more, Toto.
I have this on PS4 but have hardly played it. When it came out I'd just exhausted my Motorstorm RC addiction so there was no space for this. Might have to give it another chance.
Looks like a better version of TNT Racers (that I have downloaded on both WiiWare and Wii U eShop). That series also felt similar to Micro Machines.
Very nice
Nice. Never heard of this game It looks interesting.
Wow a driving game on Switch. I'm all over this.
Hmmm, a definately maybe for me.
I have been itching for this kind of racing game, reminds me of micro machines.
On another note , I really hope switch owners get 'Track Mania'..... I know its wishful thinking but I had a blast with that game on the Wii.
Misread it as Mantas Racing XD
@crackafreeze where is the Micromachines 2 port? --TOP 10 MULTIPLAYER COUCH GAMES FOR SURE.
@uximal
agree on the Trackmania comment. love that series and the United version is excellent
@JaxonH played on PS4 - nice little racer! Might have to double dip here. Switch is just getting slammed with game announcements now! Crazy good! 😃
I think we have to accept the fact that most games on Switch will be ports for the time being except of course for first party and other Nintendo published games. All AAA games that Switch over will of course be ports. Nindies will be available on at least Steam as well. People that complain we're only getting ports need a reality check. I'm loving the number of good games coming to Switch, ports or not, and my wallet is very very sore.
