Re: Capcom Reveals The Most Used Weapon In The Monster Hunter Rise Demo

@Patendo I totally get it. Even having "tutorial" stages, you actually have to open up the menu, read Hunter's Notes etc to really understand what is going on. And I don't remember the game telling you about it, but I may have missed.
Anyway, I would say to give the game another chance, as I find it really great. But at the end of the day, maybe it's just not your type of game.

@Blizzia Interesting to read your review about the Hunting Horn! I've been playing MH since MH3U and it never clicked, I might try it again. And now with a proper controller, I might give range weapons another shot (bad pun intended).

MH Rise demo was also the first time ever I tried Charge Blade, have no idea why I never used that before hahahahah My main weapons were always Long Sword and Switch Axe

@Kirby_Girl @TG16_IS_BAE The illustrator for Pyra/Mythra exaggerated in their designs. It is too much. Do people buy merch and stuff because of it? Yes. Does it prevents me from enjoying the game? No.
I guess you know, but there are some stereotypes in looks like "femme fatale" (Bayonetta) and "cute girl" (Pyra). There is a freedom in art and each person has hers/his preference. And of course child sexualisation is bad! LOL

Just try to avoid behaving like "he does not completely gree with me so his is an pervert/pedophile" etc, and don't use the same argument as "hard rock is bad because it leads to drugs"

Have a great weekend and take care

@Kirby_Girl @TG16_IS_BAE I agree that the artstyle is very nice, and that probably he had a real model posing. But you can't say that the painting does not express sexuality intentionaly, and I would bet it was pretty much distant from the average female human body at the time. Again, it all comes down to how the artist decided to portay a fictional character. If you don't like that painting (which deserves praise in my opinion), you won't give it a second glance.

In my head, I never saw Pyra/Mythra as children, even though the former does have more childish-like facial traits. And it's funny to see how one quickly gets attacked just by trying to go in a more "neutral" approach lol

In 1863, Alexandre Cabanel presented The Birth of Venus ( https://eclecticlightdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2018/07/cabanelbirthvenus.jpg )

I don't know if at the time it was criticized for portraying a woman beyong real standards, or of it being over-sexualized. Very clear skin, no body hair, volouptous body curves, long hair... That's how the artist decided to present a fictional character. We may agree with it or not. And of course the "mindset" changed from that time to today.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Character Designer Celebrates Third Anniversary With Some New Artwork

@Kirby_Girl Of course, the design is made to call attention of a target public, whatever the style may be. I totally agree that male heroes are most drawn in a way that evoke "damn this guys is strong" than anything else. But for sure some people do think "whoa this dude is HOT!" when seeing big muscles, etc. I would say that the main difference is how each part of the body is sexualized overall. I do not 'defend' such portrayal, nor will I attack a design of a fictional character, something an artist decided to express.
And no need to start trying to get offensive.

I played XC2 very close to release date, as I loved Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U. Got Torna as soon as it was released as well!

I love this game! Recommended to a friend and he also enjoy it a lot. When XC DE was announced I got really excited to finally be able to play the first XC, as the majority of comments stated that it was the best in the series. It does have a "darker" ambiance and great characters, but I enjoyed XC2 way more, mainly due to its combat system and music.

@Not_Soos Not just some accent and expressions as @freitasXsau mentioned, but also the same word might have completely different meaning in the way it is used. Another example is Brazilian Portuguese and Portuguese (from Portugal). In Portugal, the word "rapariga" means girl and that's it. In Brazil the same word is pejorative. And there is a common agreement between both countries to have same language! Pronounciation is very different as well.

Edit: now I imagined if they ever do a Portuguese translation and decide to call Zelda a "rapariga". No problem in Europe but well, in Brazil...

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard

As I've mentioned, I've already been the "target" of light sexual harassement by men and women alike, be it in public transportation or parties (no hands in my male genitals but other parts of the body well anyway). For example, even a rub over my abdomen or chest without me giving the slightest indication I might want it is not nice at all, I can't imagine when it's worse.

I totally see the point of @Astro_Alex argument. It is not by any means endorsing the behaviour nor accepting it as normal. And I also agree with @sikthvash and @Kirby_Girl, even though Terry gets what he deserves at the end, it's not a good ad. And sexual harassement is something we must talk about.

But then again, the game had sexualized characters from its conception. Sex sells, I'm pretty sure Mai was designed to captivate the spicy imagination of boys (mostly) and girls.

Anyway I never wrote something that long and I lost quite some minutes so I'm probably not doing it again lol

Take care everyone

@PBandSmelly they changed ZSS's body? When? And a Tharja trophy was removed from Smash 4?

@Arkay I totally get your point, but I must admit that if I read "Steve" without any mention to Minecraft or an image of it, I would have no idea who they were talking about. But well maybe due to your comment this will change hahahaha

Re: Switch Can Break The Traditional Hardware Cycle And Become Nintendo's iPhone, Says Analyst

Lugazz

The idea that the next Nintendo home console won't be an hybrid is indeed strange. As already mentioned, they dominate the portable gaming market.

If the newer models are more like a jump from Nintendo DS to Nintendo 3DS than from Nintendo 3DS to New Nintendo 3DS, seems pretty good to me.

Also:
"Nintendo is reported to be working on an upgraded Switch for release next year"

isn't more "rumoured to be working"?

Re: Talking Point: Could Monster Hunter Rise Hint At New Switch Hardware On The Horizon?

Lugazz

@Ulysses Whoa man, easy, easy! Well, first thank you for taking your time to write such a huge reply. Sure, no company wants to lose the sales opportunities for holiday season.

Probably I wasn't that clear, but the thing is that I, myself, nicknamed Lugazz, would be very pleased to know some months in advance about a new Nintendo hardware coming out by first quarter / half of 2021. I did not complain about anything lol

Peace

Re: Talking Point: Could Monster Hunter Rise Hint At New Switch Hardware On The Horizon?

Lugazz

@Ulysses Yeah, sure. But isn't exactly this what the article is about? New hardware to go for Monster Hunter Rise better performance, etc? If the system is to launch first half of 2021, I would like for it to be announced before 2021.

Of course Nintendo is working on a new hardware. It's silly to think they are not, even if Switch sales are going strong. But when it will actually be released, we can't tell for certain.
