It's been some time since we last heard about Marvelous' anticipated Rune Factory 5. Previously due to launch in 2020, we received gameplay footage last September of the upcoming RPG simulation game – but that also brought news of a delay, pushing it back to 2021. We'd not heard anything since, but Marvelous has now confirmed Rune Factory 5 is releasing in Japan on May 20th.
As part of this launch, it has also revealed a "Premium Box" limited edition, which costs ¥9,980 / $95 / £70. That will include Rune Factory 5 for Switch, a special box, visual book, Memorial Soundtrack Selection, and a “Rune Factory 4 Bachelorette / Bachelor Costume Set” as DLC.
We've not had confirmation of a Western release date just yet, though localisation is being handled by Xseed Games, and it's unclear if we'll receive a separate limited edition. Either way, its seems Rune Factory fans in the West will be waiting a little bit longer.
Are you planning on buying Rune Factory 5 when it launches? Would you buy a limited edition for it? Share your thoughts down below.

I love Rune Factory 4 so I'm super keen for it when it does get an English release.
I hope they release this limited edition to America when it comes out, Liked the Rune Factory 4 Special Box.
That same blank stare eyes design again... 🤨
I don't like the character design especially their eyes design.
Looks like their eyes being possessed by something and the character design looks too bishoujou for my taste.
Definitely one of my most hyped games, I hope the western release isn't too long after the Japan release. Would be nice if it sells well so the series can be kept alive.
Why are Japanese developers so slow or hesitant to localize their games?
@iLikeUrAttitude Localisation is a lot of work. I'd say in recent years we've been seeing a lot more global releases or close to than we used to get but that's not always going to be viable with all developers and publishers, especially some of the smaller ones and for games with a lot of dialogue. A lot of English games take a while to get localised into Japanese too so it goes both ways.
@iLikeUrAttitude
Different cultures.
There are some Western peoples not getting along with Japanese things and vice versa.
Some Western audiences still think the Japanese things are weirdo or something freaky because they look different by Western standard.
I really need more info about the EU release and release dates. The premium box of Rune Factory 4 Special was really cool and I hope this one would survive its way on this side of the globe.
@Randy_RedGuard
Should be the same packaging for the western release I assume.
@Anti-Matter I mean to be fair those types of people are usually the vocal minority looking for something to complain about. Those types were never going to buy the game in the first place. The actual audience knows what they want.
Will get if available in america.
Hm, the cover art for the soundtrack is almost a bit too much for my taste. But always good to hear some Rune Factory 5 news, hope this box gets a Western release for those who would buy it!
Unless this version has english option is the only way to tell if I will buy or not.
Still have to finish Rune4 stil....ugh
@Anti-Matter The anime art style is good!
@Anti-Matter Honestly, the art style really is not that bad!
Unless the reviews are terrible this will probably be my first Rune Factory game. Hopefully you can be gay.
I need to play 4 some more again, barely got into it for some reason...I mean...I did play all of it on the 3DS...but still. lol
Also, wished these games had the option to bring past characters into the newer games, would be nice. -w-
If the game is well done, I will get this bundle. The only Rune Factory I haven't played is Tides of Destiny, but I've loved every one I've played. I am more than willing to support more
If this is coming anytime soon in the west, I'll probably skip Olive Town. RF is way superior
@Anti-Matter god I feel exactly the same... the designs are so incredibly off putting.
The palate cleanser I need after PooT.
If I buy the Japanese or Asia ver. of this game, when it releases in US, will I be able to play it in English?
