I really hope they let you transfer past purchases on the 3DS and/or Wii U to the Switch. I don't want to pay full price for those things again.
Hell I'll be happy if they charge 1 dollar/euro for the transfer of each game, but not full price. Also damn it Nintendo release all the pertinent info right now, we are two weeks from launch with a lot of questions and barely any answers.
At times like this it dawns on one that our gaming icons that made the industry what it is today will die in our lifetime long before we are near to kick the bucket.
@Anti-Matter sorry its not stealing kid, its copying and distributing a program. Is it legal? Perhaps not, but is it stealing? Not in a thousand years.
I'll always be amazed how many of the residents here will flinch at the sight of ROMs and hacking, like you were puritans in 1600 being talked openly about sex.
@Paddle1 They could just change things and only ask for the regional dex (like they did) and still leave alone the national one. I'm really really baffled that you or anyone can justify the removal of something that was a stapple of the series just because of one item that you can still get now more easily.
I'm baffled at the missing national dex IN GAME. It is just stupid to have the bank to access it and even then it doesn't even have flavor text.
I mean what's the point then? Isn't catch em all the ultimate Pokemon goal? I can't believe they screwed an otherwise good game like this, though I'm finding more baffling the people who are either giving GF a pass on this or that are actively defending it with insanse justifications.
@Rei Ok I think I need to be more specific, if you want to train whole teams then it is slow as hell. Even with lucky egg and exp. share you get to level if you are lucky 1 level per battle, if you are not then you need at least two battles per level.
The place with the highest leveled pokemon is Poni Plains, with pokemon up tu level 57. Problem is when you level up you get less experience from any pokemon you battle, but it becomes bothersome when you are high level, so suddenly instead of the usual 2.5K to 3K experience points from these pokemons you start to get 1.8, 1.5, 1.3K and so on.
I don't know who was the idiot in GF that thought that was a good idea but it hampers your ability. Now for the rare kitchen it is another BS choice as you need a high level Festival Plaza and leveling that thing is just ugh, no, and of course even then you need those chips which again is just bothersome to get.
Compare that to the quick, almost broken way to level up in X/Y with the O-Power, exp. share and Le Wow Cafe in which you can level even the likes of Deino to Hydreigon in like two rounds at the cafe and you know somewhere along development they just screwed it.
Jesus the naivety and foolishness of fans here is astounding, no wonder Nintendo believes their out of touch calls are the right thing to do.
Yeah some third parties screw the pooch with their releases on these past consoles but they also weren't given a lot to work in terms of hardware. I mean for all of you its so easy to ask the debelopers to develop, like they just sit on a couch an say words that magically code their ideas.
Hell no, that's not how it works, having two teams develop for two different hardware specs for the same game is not as easy as clicking on the computer "scale" and they are done. Resources are not limitless and with the mentality of the classic Nintendo fan that third parties are garbage (a mentality born from bitterness from the N64 days) there is of course not much money to be made.
One of the best games overall, sadly the postgame is subpar compared to X/Y/OR/AS, with the bizarre leveling system making impossible to level anything past 30 quickly (let alone reach 100) and hyper training restricted to level 100.
The restriction of battle restaurant to once per day with not so strong pokemon is also baffling.
I will just say, they went full Nintendo, and you never go full Nintendo (in this times).
There is an article at Kotaku right now with some questions asked about the Switch and while most of the no comment answers came from the VC questions, the questions they did answer really left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Before the Wii U I'd never ever admit or even accept that Nintendo where behind the times (in terms of what they offer to the gaming scene) but now, man I'd be hard pressed to justify half of their choices. It seems like they take one step foward and then toss a dice to decide how many backwards they will take.
@nab1 sometimes you need to change words for it to make more sense in another language, not that calamity needed to be changed but perhaps it has more power that line with cataclismo.
@Ryu_Niiyama not on topic but where is your gif from?
Now on topic, as expected Europe (UK specially) is the weakest link in Nintendo sales so this is not a surprise, though I'd say we all wait till the end of this year winter holiday season to accurately say if Switch sales are healthy or not.
@gatorboi352 if you discount flops like the Vita, yeah kinda. They market to "casuals" too, just a different kind, the ones which feel like the annual Fifa, CoD, and the like are like super hardcore titles, oh and also they have Netflix, "4K" and many other buzzwords which mostly go under-utilised because many of them frankly don't know how to use them.
People like us, which are more interested in a wide variety of games are no match in numbers to those consumers.
@gatorboi352 I know but they are still very much a japanese company. Now setting that aside I don't see a problem with the concept of portability and why it is so frowned upon here in the west.
@electrolite77 then what? Because I sincerely don't understand what people were expecting out of this. I went with no expectations and came out satisfied.
Wow didn't expected this much negativity to the Switch even though I had my reserves before. Aside from the price complains (which I kinda understand) I don't know what people expected.
What you thought you'd had a Metroid, Zelda, Mario and Pokemon all in the same year? At launch? Or that you'd see FFXV and FFVII shown? Perhaps all Dark Souls and even Bloodborne because lets get unrealistic?
Or maybe you thought you'd see all of the VC catalog on day one with like 20 new GC games and all at half the price? I mean this all doesn't sound unrealistic right?
I honestly thought the presentation was serviceable and the console itself cool. That may be because I skipped entirely the Wii
U so all this games sound appealing to me, plus I'm pretty much a handheld player this days.
I sincerely don't know what people expected but I've come to terms that Nintendo will never have a mostly positive reception, either by their own undoing or because frankly the gamer community is just freaking jaded. I have made my mind and I will get the console at launch, at worst it will be like the launch of the 3DS and I have other things to do to keep me occupied until this thing builds an interesting library.
@ROBLOGNICK Pokepelago is heaven sent for getting those pesky evolution rocks that are not thunder, leaf, water or fire. It is really easy to use and it also helps for getting tons of berries.
But Festival Plaza is a damn mess, no clear instructions, not intuitive and really more of a bother than something to use. I love my Sun version and I love this gen but it is not without a fault, O-Powers need to return as well as battling cafes post game, it is a hassle to level up pokemon in this games.
Somehow I fear that in two days Nintendo will price themselves out of a good start. The Switch must be between 300 and 250 to be competitive, if it's anything more than 300 then it will not succeed.
Internet always kinda took a dump on the play anywhere angle of this. I really wish I knew how Nintendo works psychologically, they have great ideas but when they develop them sometimes they just screw the whole process with one or two stupid decisions.
@DanteSolablood hey, Nintendo could sell us a Wii U 1.5, you can't blame people for doubting this thing power after two underperforming (in terms of specs) generations.
Still even if this thing is not as powerful as the Ps4 or One, the fact that it is an hybrid that will fullfill the Vita failed promises is what will make it sell like recently baked hot cakes.
@DanteSolablood I wasn't concerned on the big screen, I knew the game would have at least Wii U level of graphics. But when it got undocked? Smooth as butter. Hell this thing could bomb and I wouldn't give a damn, I'm team Switch all the way.
@sp_initiate-001 they didn't lost the right, it just needed to get renegotiated because of the Marvel/Disney merger. So in the mean time they had to pull everything.
Now they are kinda putting it back, at least in PS4 and the One. For things I want them to revive, obviously Megaman is one of them, but I don't want any reboot, and if they plan one at least finish the ZX and Legends storylines damn it.
@YouSeemFRAZZLED I think this trailer shows they should actually charge for this DLC, it almost feels like a new game. If it goes to the Switch, I would gladly buy this all over.
@Whopper744 This show was just to see what "world premieres" they had, everything else is pretty subjective. Now that is not to say Nintendo deserved any prices at all, though they released quiality content truth is every other developer did too and competition is really fierce.
@Grawlog part of the enjoyment people get while playing Metroid is the idea of a badass woman all alone in a planet hunting these critters and explring unknown regions.
Other M while commendable on trying to be more cinematic and expand Samus personal lore, it screwed it all big time by converting Samus in a character that is the polar opposite of what she was represented so far. They even screwed her by having a panic attack (after the third time I guess) Ridley appeared which you could try to justify but it is poor storytelling.
Now that doesn't mean its gameplay was bad or that you shouldn't enjoy it, but for the majority of Metroid fans (at least western ones) it was just not worth it.
I liked the video up until the coment about imperial units. No s**t Sherlock, between the UK and US still enforcing them in industrial standards we will never get rid of them. I can't still fathom why in this day and age this countries still uses them.
I may be one of a rare case but I didn't found this game as good as all critics claim. It's not bad by any means but it didn't felt like a masterpiece either.
I think the dock will have its own Tegra chip which will enhance whatever the main chip is doing to bring the games to the console side of gaming.

@NEStalgia it is defended because it is a standard all over the world save some really few english speaking countries.
There is a reason why the metric system became the most used, though scientifically speaking kelvin would be the right measure to use.
