Now that the Mini NES is safely out of its packaging, we decided to go absolutely mad and actually play the console to see how it handles. After a few minor technical frustrations we finally got our mess of technology required to capture what this sucker spits out to behave.
Make sure you check out the video above where you can see how this latest miniature console from Nintendo handles in the real world.

That's what she said.
@AlexOlney, to answer your own question the games are running at 60Hz.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Or around these parts, 'he'
That tag line! I thought this was a family site! 😉
The NES donkey Kong had a level missing from the arcade version.
Sadly that does not look like the arcade version to me.
@A01 I too am interested but the 2 controllers seemed to fit snuggly inside the box as if it were made to fit both. However why would Nintendo allow them to be bought separately unless there is just one. Or are they that money hungry?
@A01 It's definitely not the norm(the box itself says so). I've seen other European unboxings. It was probably included as it was a review copy so that they could fully review the console playing 2 player games.
@A01 The spelling of ColoUr bugs the hell out of me and I've been well and truly over that before.
@A01 It's not spelled incorrectly. It's the official title of the game, you can't say that's "misspelled".
What a nice unbiased review.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy Absolutely it's wrong. There's 60+ English speaking countries in the world and we all spell it correctly with the exception of America.
They spelled it "Color," we spell it "Color." Ergo, they spelled it correctly.
Interesting factoid from Wikipedia (well, I copied from them but they sourced it from elsewhere):
"William Shakespeare's first folios, for example, used spellings like center and color as much as centre and colour."
Since William Shakespeare lived (in England, mind you) well before the USA existed, "color" is as much British as "colour"
In any event I just want to add that it serves no purpose saying one spelling is wrong and the other right. They are both right. "Color" is right in the USA, "colour" is right in the UK, and whatever spelling your country (if you're not from the UK or USA) adopted is correct.
That said, you can complain, I suppose, that Nintendo should have spelled/spelt it the way your country does, and therefore they are wrong.
Man you really did stutter there uh? Fine review though, I may get one someday.
The American spelling is color.
America likes to always think we're right...kind of like the big dumb guy who can get angry when poked...best to leave us think we're right and go back to spelling it colour when we leave.
(just kidding around - We love you Brits!)
That controller cable is way too short. I just ordered the Nyko Extend Link for NES Classic Edition from Amazon so I can extend it by 6ft. That should work.
Color is incorrect in the majority of the world. Its only correct in america because thats where we keep the Americans.
Colour - color, honour - honor. English - American.
When I travel to Asia, Eastern Europe and even parts of Western Europe the locals refer to English as American. "Do you speak American?" is thrown at more often than "Do you speak English?"
In Asian and Middle Eastern hotels the options for language on TVs, DVDs, ATMs etc., are often "American, French, German, Spanish ..." NOT ENGLISH.
I suppose it's because US culture ( TV, movies, music, novels etc., ) has been the dominant force throughout the world for a long time.
It did use to annoy me as a student but as I got older I found out that there are far more important things for me to worry about.
Nintendo life WAS playing with Monkey Dong on NES Mini!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE @A01 I'm a Brit, but for me Color Splash is simply the game's title rather than a misspelling.
Just wondering... Do you also get annoyed about Mortal Kombat (Mortal Combat), Pilotwings (Pilot Wings) or other "incorrect" game titles?
Artistic licence, and all that. Or is it artistic licenSe?
@lifepsychedelic what's open emu?
